I got to watch this short on internet and the narrator clearly refers to May's Squirtle as a "a bit of a selfish girl"('zenigame ha chotto wagamama na onnanoko da ne'/'ゼニガメはちょっとわがままな女の子だね。'). I don't know if this is enough to confirm the Pokémon gender, so I'd like to talk about it.

May's Squirtle/Wartortle gender confirmation

Also there's a part where Squirtle starts to cry and the narrator translates what a Misdreavus says as "Is wrong make a girl cry"('onnanoko wo nakashicha ikenai ne.'/'女の子を泣かしちゃいけないね') Kitsune kushi (talk) 19:24, 31 December 2024 (UTC)
