File:Ash fleeing spearow.png
The scene from EP001.

At the start of most episodes in the original series, a tune can be heard which also features in the games. The purpose for the music is like many other animated programming , to set mood of the show.

The music is played in times of hardship , influencing a more sad soft tone .It can then progress getting loud when the show is in a serious tense moment such as One example from the anime is when Ash flees from a flock of attacking Spearow during Pokémon - I Choose You. The music playing sets scene for the more serious side of the anime, adding emotion.

Every time their is a Pokémon battle ,the battling music from the game is heard.
