Release Information
This card was released as a promotional card. In Japan, it was released as a special card by All Nippon Airways in 1998. Passengers flying in conjunction with the "Pokémon Getaways" campaign could redeem their boarding passes for the 2 card set including Dragonite and Flying Pikachu. The English version of the card was one of four possible cards that one could receive by buying a ticket to the theatrical release of Mewtwo Strikes Back. The English version also has a gold foil stamp in the top right corner that reads "Kids WB Presents Pokémon The First Movie". In Japan, this card was later reprinted in Pokémon Web.
Trivia
Although this Pokémon is level 47, Dragonair does not evolve into Dragonite until level 55.
Origin
This card's Pokédex entry is based on the original entry from Pokémon Red and Green. The card features the Dragonite used by Mewtwo to deliver letters of invitation in Mewtwo Strikes Back.
