There is nothing on 11 except a handful of Trainers and a Berry tree.  However, it does get you where you want to go - the sleeping Snorlax on Vermilion's eastern border.  To wake it up, tune the Pokégear's radio to the Poké Flute channel (20.0), and press the B Button.  Exit the menu, and check on Snorlax to place the radio near the snoozing creatureIt wakes up annoyed, and attacks the closest living thing.  After the battle, enter Diglett's Cave.
There is nothing on 11 but a handful of Trainers and a Berry tree.  However, it does take you back to the Snorlax just outside Vermilion City.  To wake it up, tune the Pokégear's radio to the Poké Flute Channel and examine the snoozing creature to place the radio near it.  Annoyed, it attacks the nearest living thingIf you don't catch it, at least use Thief to swipe the In-battle effect item it holdsNow take Diglett's Cave to 2.

Diglett's Cave is a short tunnel that connects the eastern border of Vermilion with 2 in the west, linking the eastern and northwestern regions of KantoThere is nothing of major interest here, though this is the only location to find wild Diglett and Dugtrio.  Trek through the tunnel, and you'll emerge just south of Pewter City.
With the Fuchsia beach blocked, the only way to reach western Kanto is through Diglett's Cave, a long tunnel that links Vermilion's east side with 2 in the northwestCatch a few Diglett and Dugtrio on your way through before emerging near Pewter City.

After emerging from Diglett's Cave, walk to the northeast to find a Vitamin.  Visit the man in the house south of here to obtain a Valuable item.  Walk through the gate to the route's southernmost extent to find an Ether.  Cut through the line of trees to access the route's west side.  Battle the two Bug Catchers, and wander into the remains of Viridian Forest.  Grab the items along the way, battle the third Bug Catcher, and go north to enter Pewter City.
Loop around behind Diglett's Cave to find a Vitamin, then visit the man in the house to the south for a Valuable item.  Pass through the gate to find an Ether, and cut through the trees to reach the route's west side.  Hike through the remains of Viridian Forest for a handful of items, and go north to enter Pewter City.

Brock still commands the Pewter Gym, meaning that the place still specializes in the Rock type.  Grass moves will inflict massive damage against all five of his Pokémon, so Giga Drain can likely take each out with one shot. Alternatively, hit his Graveler, Rhyhorn, and Onix with Water- or Ice attacks, and his Omastar and Kabutops with Electric moves.  Watch out for Earthquake and Sandstorm, which takes its toll on all but Rock-, Ground-, and Steel Pokémon.

Brock still commands the Pewter Gym, meaning that the place still specializes in the Rock.  Grasss will have the advantage over all five of his Pokémon, while Waters will only be effective against his Graveler, Rhyhorn, and Onix.  Moves like Graveler's Earthquake, Rhyhorn's Horn Drill, and (for Waters) Kabutops' Giga Drain are the biggest  threats, but by now your team should be higher-leveled than Brock's team anyway.

Route 11

Route 11

There is nothing on Route 11 but a handful of Trainers and a Berry tree. However, it does take you back to the Snorlax just outside Vermilion City. To wake it up, tune the Pokégear's radio to the Poké Flute Channel and examine the snoozing creature to place the radio near it. Annoyed, it attacks the nearest living thing. If you don't catch it, at least use Thief to swipe the Leftovers it holds. Now take Diglett's Cave to Route 2.

Diglett's Cave

Diglett's Cave

With the Fuchsia beach blocked, the only way to reach western Kanto is through Diglett's Cave, a long tunnel that links Vermilion's east side with Route 2 in the northwest. Catch a few Diglett and Dugtrio on your way through before emerging near Pewter City.

Route 2

Route 2

Loop around behind Diglett's Cave to find a Carbos, then visit the man in the house to the south for a Nugget. Pass through the gate to find an Elixir, and cut through the trees to reach the route's west side. Hike through the remains of Viridian Forest for a handful of items, and go north to enter Pewter City.

Pewter City

Pewter City

The Pewter Museum of Science is closed for renovations, but the Pewter Gym is still accepting challengers. There is also a man in the Poké Center who wants a Haunter, and is willing to trade his Xatu for it.

LEADER: BROCK
The Rock Solid
POKéMON Trainer

Brock still commands the Pewter Gym, meaning that the place still specializes in the Rock type. Grass-type moves will inflict massive damage against all five of his Pokémon, so Giga Drain can likely take each out with one shot. Alternatively, hit his Graveler, Rhyhorn, and Onix with Water- or Ice-type attacks, and his Omastar and Kabutops with Electric-type moves. Watch out for Earthquake and Sandstorm, which takes its toll on all but Rock-, Ground-, and Steel-type Pokémon.

The Boulder Badge

Defeated, Brock awards you the Boulder Badge, which gives a slight boost to your party's Attack.

The Second Feather

There is an old man strolling around the east side of town. Talk to him to get the Silver Wing, an item he found while training in Johto. This feather lets you track down the second legendary bird, Lugia, in the Whirl Islands.

Rest your team, and go east to Route 3.
