Trivia
- Misty had darker hair in the first three chapters, but in Chapter 4, she had lighter hair.
- Ash loses Pikachu twice in this book.
Party changes
- Ash's Charmander, Bulbasaur, Squirtle and Oddish appear for the first time in You Gotta Have Friends. Their capture is not depicted in the manga. Instead, there is a notice at the bottom of the panel saying that "Ash has been busy since the last comic!".
Gym battles
- Jessie and James are shown battling Koga in a montage sequence in ET07, though it is not stated if they win or lose.
