Release information
A prerelease version of the Holofoil print of this card was created as a Pokémon League promo in July 1999. The US version of this promotional print has the original Star Holofoil, while the European print has the Cosmos Holofoil.

This was the first Pokémon card to have a Resistance to its own type.
Origin
Prehistoric Power's Japanese name is that of Ancient Power, a move later introduced in the Generation II Pokémon games that Aerodactyl can learn. Wing Attack is also a move in the Pokémon games that Aerodactyl can learn. This card's English Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Red and Blue, whereas the Japanese entry comes from Pokémon Red and Green.
