:A small note: I read [http://34102238.at.webry.info/201310/article_10.html something] that suggests there's a special effect of some sort on your birthday, but it was very coy and didn't say what exactly, so I can't tell whether it's referring to the battle text message (and if the message actually only appears on your birthday, that should be noted) or something else entirely.  The two [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRWu2KSeDJ8 videos] I've seen [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pst87tCxqCE both] had the message, but one was also uploaded on the same day as (and only a few minutes of game time earlier than) a [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVD0XS5Sdpo video] showing a birthday celebration at the in-game Pokemon Center.

:(And afaik the language option ''only'' affects text display and your game is still whatever region you bought.  But again, I don't have X/Y.  Either way, the birthday Pokemon are gotten at Japanese Pokemon Center stores, so you'd need to be in Japan on top of changing your game's language to get them...  But at that point you could also just buy the Japanese game/3DS, if necessary.) I have the move in an English version of the game on a Smeargle. The move is called "Celebrate" in English. The description is:
"The Pokémon congratulates you on your special day!" [[User:GenericJoe|GenericJoe]] ([[User talk:GenericJoe|talk]]) 08:59, 26 November 2013 (UTC)

Move Description?

Could someone who knows Japanese and English please translate the move description? I'm guessing most of the visitors (and most likely members) cannot read Japanese. Either that or get one of the Birthday Eevee/Umbreon/Sylveon on a Japanese save and trade it to an English save. I've got the general gist from Google Translate, which says "Pokemon is willing to celebrate about you happy even if I take it". Obviously, online translators aren't the best, so I'd reckon the page would need either a human translator or the game's description.

Just one more thing: is it possible to start a new game in Japanese now that you can select the language and get Japanese events, or is it still region-locked? Like, "this is an Australian/American/European version of the game so you can't get Japan events"? PokeMaster99999 (talk) 09:52, 14 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Translated for now. It would be nice if someone could get one (cloned, I would imagine) in a game displaying in English and see what the English name and description are really supposed to be. (I don't have X/Y.)
A small note: I read something that suggests there's a special effect of some sort on your birthday, but it was very coy and didn't say what exactly, so I can't tell whether it's referring to the battle text message (and if the message actually only appears on your birthday, that should be noted) or something else entirely. The two videos I've seen both had the message, but one was also uploaded on the same day as (and only a few minutes of game time earlier than) a video showing a birthday celebration at the in-game Pokemon Center.
