- Misty rejoins the group.
- Ash wins the Fuchsia Free-For-All Race on behalf of Lara Laramie.
- Ash helps Mikey get accepted into the fellowship The Knights of the E Stone.
- Ash and company are separated from Pikachu, but are reunited in the Hidden Village.
- Ash's Pikachu meets a herd of wild Pikachu and befriends them.
- Ash loses Pikachu twice in this volume, but they are reunited both times.
Party changes
- Ash's Charmander, Bulbasaur, Squirtle and Oddish appear for the first time in You Gotta Have Friends. Their capture is not depicted in the manga. Instead, there is a notice at the bottom of the panel saying that "Ash has been busy since the last comic!".

- Jessie and James are shown battling Koga in a montage sequence in ET07, though it is not stated if they win or lose.
