Release information
In Japan, this card was available as an insert with the Pocket Monsters Fan Book, released in April 1997. The English version of the card was one of four possible cards that one could receive by buying a ticket to the theatrical release of Mewtwo Strikes Back. The English version also has a gold foil stamp in the top right corner that reads "Kids WB Presents Pokémon The First Movie".
It was later reprinted as another promotional card with different artwork by Benimaru Itoh. In Japan, this version came with the June 1997 issue of CoroCoro Comic, released in May 1997. The English version of the variant card was included in the VHS and DVD releases of Mewtwo Strikes Back.
