As far as the ''Pokémon'' Trading Card Game, I was first exposed to that towards the end of third grade, when ''Pokémon'' was starting to become less and less popular amongst the kids at school. A former friend of mine decided he was getting too old for ''Pokémon'', so he gave me his entire collection of ''Pokémon'' cards for my ninth birthday. He tried, rather poorly, to teach me how to play the Trading Card Game, but because I could not grasp the rules, my cards became more for the purposes of display and collecting than for competition.

Salutations! My name is The Pokémon Master, and I have been a huge fan of the Pokémon franchise ever since I was very young. I know a great deal about all aspects of Pokémon, and I hope to put that knowledge to good use during my time on this Wiki.

Story

Discovering Pokémon

My Pokémon adventure began back when I was only eight years old. I was up at 7:00 AM, waiting for the bus to come and bring me to my elementary school, when I decided to turn on the TV for the sake of entertainment. Sure enough, the only thing on at that time that was kid-friendly was Pokémon, which, until then, I had had no interest in whatsoever, despite its popularity at school. Over time, watching the Pokémon anime became a part of my morning routine; I made sure to watch the episodes shown on Cartoon Network every day at 7:00 AM. My mother, who believed Pokémon was too violent, was not thrilled that I had obtained a liking for the show. What was my response to her statement that Pokémon was inappropriate? I, not being a fan of Yu-Gi-Oh!, told her to watch that show if she wanted to see something violent. With that, my mother ceased to give me trouble when I wanted to watch Pokémon.

I was first exposed to the Pokémon video games in third grade, as well. One of the kids on the school bus always played Pokémon Ruby Versionon the way to and from school. I spent several days watching him play, but I finally gained the courage to ask him if I could try the game myself. He said yes. Thus the gamer in me was born.

As far as the Pokémon Trading Card Game, I was first exposed to that towards the end of third grade, when Pokémon was starting to become less and less popular amongst the kids at school. A former friend of mine decided he was getting too old for Pokémon, so he gave me his entire collection of Pokémon cards for my ninth birthday. He tried, rather poorly, to teach me how to play the Trading Card Game, but because I could not grasp the rules, my cards became more for the purposes of display and collecting than for competition.

Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen Versions

Pokémon LeafGreen Version was the first Pokémon video game I ever received upon being made a gamer during the Christmas season of my third grade year. The first Pokémon I ever obtained was a Squirtle; this Squirtle soon evolved into Wartortle and was joined by a Weedle I foolishly nicknamed "Ben." Not liking the childish and nonsensical nicknames I had chosen for my Pokémon, I later restarted my game and decided to continue my Pokémon LeafGreen Version adventure with a Charmander, instead.

I got pretty far into Pokémon Leaf Green Version, but then, tragedy ensued. When I was in fourth grade, one of my friends told me about a way to get any Pokémon in the game that I wanted, a device known as "ActionReplay." Desperate to "catch 'em all," I asked my mother to buy me an ActionReplay, which she did, and I immediately plugged it into my copy of Pokémon LeafGreen Version to see if it would work. Unfortunately, my endeavors to obtain Event Pokémon such as Deoxys resulted in the corruption of my game's save file. I was heartbroken, for I could no longer play my first-ever Pokémon game.

That Christmas, my parents replaced my copy of Pokémon LeafGreen Version. They also purchased Pokémon FireRed Version for me as an added bonus. I decided this time to play Pokémon FireRed Version; it was this game in which I finally managed to complete my journey in the Kanto region.

Pokémon Silver and Gold Versions

When I learned that I could play GameBoy Color games on my GameBoy Advance SP, I decided to purchase Pokémon Silver Version to begin a journey in the Johto region. I loved Pokémon Silver Version; even though I laughed at the terrible quality of the graphics and music, I played the game all the way through and wound up with a final party consisting of Typhlosion, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Tyranitar, and Dragonite.

To say I put effort into my copy of Pokémon Silver Version is an understatement. It took patience to complete both the main and post-games, as well as to train my team to the high levels at which they were. Once again, my Pokémon gaming experience was met with tragedy, however, for while I was playing Pokémon Silver Version while my mom was shopping at a local Kmart, I accidentally dropped my GameBoy Advance SP on the hard, tiled floor. When I tried to reload my copy of Pokémon Silver Version, realizing the game had crashed, I was met with a terrible message: "The save file cannot be loaded because the save file is corrupt." It had happened again. Months of gameplay had been wasted. I lost yet another one of my Pokémon games. I was devastated.

My parents tried to give me another chance at playing the Generation II Pokémon games by purchasing me Pokémon Gold Version for Christmas. When I turned the game on, I noticed there was already an active save file on it in which the previous owner of this apparently used game had made the stupid decision to release his or her Cyndaquil. I deleted the save file to make my own, only for this action to apparently corrupt my copy of Pokémon Gold Version, as well. More than frustrated, I have not touched a Generation II Pokémon game since.

Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire Versions

My GameBoy Advance SP came with a Shrek video game that I had no interest in playing. Thus my mother took the game and traded it in for Pokémon Ruby Version. This was the first Pokémon game I had ever played, thanks to the kid on the bus I knew in third grade; it was wonderful to finally have my own copy of it. Pokémon Ruby Version held the distinction of being the first Pokémon game I owned not to be destroyed by an ActionReplay or through my clumsiness; it was joined in my Pokémon video game collection by Pokémon Sapphire Version a few months after I had beaten it. While I never raelly played Pokémon Sapphire Version upon receiving it, my final party in Pokémon Ruby consisted of Blaziken, Walrein, Salamence, Metagross, Aggron, and Flygon.

Pokémon Emerald Version

I was quite intrigued by the news that Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire Versions were being remade. Still, I wanted Pokémon Emerald Version desperately. It sounds stupid, but this game was to be my prize if I learned to ride a bicycle like my parents wanted. I took many falls (literally) for Pokémon Emerald Version; as soon as the game was in my possession, I never got on a bicycle again. I loved how Pokémon Emerald Version combined the exclusive content from Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire Versions into one game, and with a party consisting of Blaziken, Sceptile, Swampert, Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza, I was unbeatable.
