No clue on how to edit wikis, but this page needs some updating. I see a small mention of the battle disc being distributed by Active Gulf, but I think the fact it also distributes the DS/3DS games needs to be mentioned as well if you check through their facebook page. I've lived in the United Arab Emirates my entire life, and I can say the "ban" is nonexistent at this point. You can buy Pokemon-related things normally like everything else for a very long time now. Book shops have Pokemon manga and books in stock, game shops sell Pokemon games in public view, and you can buy the TCG in the few card game shops in the region. Banned?

Does anyone know why, exactly, the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia believes Pokemon promotes Zionism? That doesn't make any sense to me. Where in Pokemon does anything remotely related to Israel appear? Jedibob5 16:56, 5 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

See the first paragraph here. —Minimiscience 18:37, 5 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
An anecdote from my friend who lived in Saudi Arabia at the time:
If I remember it was because we'd play the card games and winner would grab a card at random from the opponent.
That was "gambling", and the nutty Muttawas picked up on it.
It was a good example of how even us young indoctrinated kids were like: "fuck, muttawas are batshit insane. Charizard defo doesn't mean, 'death to muhammad' in Hebrew..."
My two cents: The real reason was that Pokemon promotes darwinism. Capncanuck (talk) 02:24, 6 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
