Arceus (Japanese: アルセウス Arceus) is a Mythical Pokémon in the Pokémon Adventures manga.

History

Multitype activated

In the HeartGold & SoulSilver arc, Arceus appears as one of the main antagonists, where it plans on destroying humanity due to its mistrust of humans. It was the target of Team Rocket's plans to create Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina.

Arceus first appeared in a flash forward in Out-Odding Oddish, battling against Gold. It made its first actual appearance in With a Little Help From Hitmonchan, having been summoned by Archer due to all the plates being in the same place. Crystal decides to try and capture it but Arceus proves to be too strong and escapes.

After escaping Arceus goes to the Ecruteak Gym and promptly destroys the place. Gold then attempts to battle it, but Arceus easily pushes away his teams attacks before flying away to the Ruins of Alph. Upon arriving at the Ruins Arceus places a barrier around itself and Gold, forcing him to battle it. After a quick fight Silver appears with all 16 plates and Arceus transports everyone in the area to the Sinjoh Ruins. Upon arrving Team Rocket captures Arceus and forces it to the Mystri Stage. Archer then uses the plates to control Arceus and force it to create Dialga, Palkia and Giratina.

After the Pokédex holders intervene Arceus regains control of itself, but continues to create the Legendary Pokémon as well as absorb the plates. Gold then attempts to calm Arceus's heart and eventually succeeds after bonding with his Togebo. Satisfied with Gold's connection with his Pokémon Arceus commands the Legendary Pokémon to stop fighting and takes its leave.

Personality and characteristics

Prior to the start of the series Arceus lived in harmony with humans but eventually something caused it to mistrust them and since them it exhibited strong hostility towards them, sometimes attacking on sight without cause. Despite this Arceus wishes to see the good in humans again, waiting for one to show it their heart and end its suffering. After seeing Gold bond with his Togekiss Arceus began to regain some trust in humans.

It is a very powerful Pokémon having the ability to change into any type it wishes using any of the plates, with it's signature move, Judgement, changing types aswell. It also easily defeats the Pokédex holders of Johto without much effort. When it is at the Mystri Stage in the Sinjoh Ruins, it is able to summon a swarm of Unown and create Dialga, Palkia and Giratina.
