Release information
This card was released in the English Base Set with an illustration by Mitsuhiro Arita, first originating from the Japanese Expansion Pack. In Japan, this card was reprinted with artwork by Tsukasa Hosono, one of five winning entries of the 64 Mario Stadium Pokémon Snap Best Photo Contest held in Spring 1999. This print has a camera graphic where the expansion symbol would normally be. This print is extremely rare and the exact number in existence is unknown. The Base Set print was reprinted in the English Base Set 2 and Legendary Collection expansions.
A special reprint with redrawn art by Mitsuhiro Arita was released in the English Stormfront expansion, originating from the Japanese Intense Fight in the Destroyed Sky. This print modified some of the card text to bring it in line with modern card wording whilst still allowing it to retain its original effects.

Trivia
Unlike the majority of the cards released through the Spring 1999 Pokémon Snap contests, the "Snap" print does not feature additional text on the bottom right.
Origin
Scratch and Ember are both moves in the Pokémon games that Charmander can learn. This card's English Base Set Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Red and Blue, though it is slightly reworded. The Japanese entry comes from Pokémon Red and Green. The Stormfront Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon FireRed.
