Here's a small little list of guidelines I expect to be followed on my talk page:
Please use English. It's not that I'm against other languages, it's just...how am I suppose to respond when I don't know what you said?
Please do not respond for me. I don't mind people tacking on their own questions to a discussion that's already been made, even before I have the chance to answer the initial post. But when someone personally has come here to ask me a question, don't answer for me. And if someone has answered for me, please don't take their word for my own. I can guarantee you that almost no one on this site knows me as well as I do. If you want my opinion, you wait for my response.

On Iris, there's no note for anime!Iris's eyes; same between Misty's articles, despite having four different colors on her main page. Since his anime page notes his eyes in that incarnation are blue, I don't feel it's necessary to note it on his main page. For that same reason, I also didn't add Limone in his relatives' list, like is done on Brock and Misty. Luna Tiger * the ArcToraph22:30, 26 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Bonus Question! If you're auto-confirmed here, will your account also be auto-confirmed on the Archives? I ask because earlier today, I attempted to upload a better Shauntal sprite, but apparently I can't unless I'm not auto-confirmed. --FireGambit (talk) 07:23, 2 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
So then what else would one do on the Archives, other than upload images? Forgive me if this is a stupid question; I'm prone to asking them. :) --FireGambit (talk) 07:40, 2 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
Alright then, thanks for the help. Speaking of welcoming users, when I see a new account is created, can I drop that generic Bulbapedia welcome template, or is that something only administrators can do? I promise it's the final question for tonight, hehe. --FireGambit (talk) 08:22, 2 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
Anyone can welcome new users. But while it's not a requirement, we do have a preference that experienced users welcome new ones, because chances are that new users will go to whoever welcomed them for guidance and advice, and if the person that welcomed them literally does nothing but welcome users they won't really know how to answer their questions. See what I mean? So we'd like it if people knew their way around the site first. ★Jo the Marten★ಠ_ಠ♥08:38, 2 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello! As I was perusing Bulbapedia articles the other day, I noticed that several anime characters (such as Foster or Georgio) did not have a character box. Is this because they are minor characters? Or, if they do need boxes, could I add some? Thanks in advance. --FireGambit (talk) 00:51, 7 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
Bonus question, 'cause I have far too many of them: after reading plenty of articles here, I've noticed that they seem to follow a protocol of not repeat-linking a page? I'm not sure about this, but I was wondering if this is so. I've found plenty of inconsistencies, if my hypothesis is correct, and therefore was excited at the prospect of finding an editing niche. --FireGambit (talk) 05:42, 7 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

I'll bring it up in a chat discussion cause even though I'm Head of Games I feel like all I'd do is delete all trances of competitive battling from the site. (hahaha...) But while I do agree that it's a bit too close to "strategies", it's also based on solid fact based on their stats. Friend Safari locations for Pokemon pages
Latest comment: 23 March 20144 comments2 people in discussion
I understand we're "supposed" to be waiting on a new template to add Friend Safari locations to Pokemon pages. But I cannot fathom that it could be so great a change that Friend Safari location is only acceptably notable in that template, and not in the current template. If it is possible to acceptably note Friend Safari location for a Pokemon with the current template, people should be allowed to go around and add FS locations to Pokemon pages. It's been entirely too long, and unless you can tell me the new template will be ready in a day or two, we shouldn't have to keep waiting, keep the wiki out-of-date even longer. I know I'm willing to work on it, and I'm sure there are a few others around who would still be willing. Will you approve people adding Friend Safari locations in some acceptable format? Hello. I couldn't find anything on Bulbapedia along the lines of Wikipedia's Reference Desk, so I figured I might as well ask you (hope I'm not a bother)! So, here goes. I visited Bulba's page on EV Yield, and in the intro, there's a note stating that the numbers there are only valid for gen V and up! So I Googled around, and there's conflicting sources. Psypokes claims that these values only differ from the first 2 gens, and that the only change between gen III and the present is the new Pokemon (by the way, for the purposes of this question, my main focus is gen III) Is this true?.
Bonus Question - What's a good 3 Pokemon core to build around Mudkip, using Pokemon available toward the beginning of Sapphire (even if only temporary)? I plan on EVing Mudkip to be a wall breaker/mixed tank, if that helps...
And one last thing, you might have been able to deduce from my questions that I'm a budding EV trainer. Can you point me in the direction of a good online community? Kay, thanks! --SillyWynaut96 (talk) 17:52, 28 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
The Staff page is kind of like a reference page. You can contact pretty much any active staff member you want with a question, and if they can't answer, someone who can will show up to help you out.
I'm probably not the person to ask for competitive advice. I'm generally terrible at team building because I prefer using Pokémon I like over Pokémon that would actually be useful. The only thing I can really imagine being good with Mudkip in Sapphire would be Ludicolo since it gets Rain Dance and its ability heals it during a downpour. Then Mudkip-Swampert can also benefit from the attack boost. But I would suggest asking MAGNEDETH cause he's more savvy in that field than I am.
Okay, thanks! I sure appreciate the help. By the way, is there a way that I can just link this message directly to the user you mentioned, rather than re-asking the question? - unsigned comment from SillyWynaut96 (talk • contribs)

I understand that the comment is very old. However, isn't the policy that replies should not be added to conversations that have finished/resolved? The policy doesn't actually say that it is, unassailably, okay to respond if no response was ever made, of course... But Bbbbbbbbba did make a useful comment about something that was never answered in any form. I just think that warrants forbearance here and the comment should be kept. Tiddlywinks (talk) 23:55, 28 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
I doubt Socob has been watching the talk page all these years waiting for a response. The discussion is dead. Rather than trying to revive a dead conversation, it would be a better decision to have added the information to the article. That's where most people look for information anyway. If we can get proof their theory is factual, it can be added to a Notes section. ★Jo the Marten★ಠ_ಠ♥00:23, 29 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Or...leave it on the talk page until someone can provide proof for it. If that proof never comes, you'd be preventing people from finding the information at all (Socob isn't the only person to consider).
...Unless someone just makes a new section on the talk page with that theory. Yeah, I think that'll be what I'll resort to. If it hasn't been put on the article by tomorrow or so, I'll just make a section recounting Bbbbbbbbba's theory and asking if anyone can confirm it and put it in the article. There shouldn't really be any cause for complaint about that.
(I don't intend to be insubordinate, per se. I just believe that this information shouldn't be consigned to the void and intend to see that it isn't (especially since I can't confirm and add it into the article myself).) Tiddlywinks (talk) 00:45, 29 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi! Billy Mays SillyWynaut96 here, with another question.
Latest comment: 2 April 20143 comments2 people in discussion
Hope you laughed too! Anyway, I've got another (hopefully simpler) factual question (hate to single you out, but 'Head of Games' seems like the go-to for this). You're aware of the whole, grass beats water, water beats fire, fire beats grass thing. So, just how many of these rock-paper-scissor-style type-effectiveness triangles are there? Can you name them? And besides the obvious difference of the fairy type, would there be any other differences between gen III and gen VI in this respect? Thanks for putting up with me, SillyWynaut96 (talk) 15:48, 2 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
After googling around, I think I should clarify. For my purposes, a type triangle strictly means that x is super effective to y, is super effective to z, is super effective to x. Also, x is resistant to (NOT immune to) z, is resistant to y, is resistant to x. SillyWynaut96 (talk) 16:33, 2 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
Sorry to butt in, Jo, but The Cave of Dragonflies has a good type-interaction tool that can tell you this and lots of other things. (The newer version doesn't have type polygons, but it does a lot of other things a lot better than the older one, so take a look at it, too, if you're interested.) As for your question, there are four: Fire/Water/Grass, Fire/Rock/Steel, Grass/Poison/Ground, and Fighting/Flying/Rock. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 19:00, 2 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

I come to you, Head of Games, wondering about a new template(s) for the Gen VI Berries. I have two issues.
The first, a fairly minor concern: the Gen VI Berries have no numbers, so I'd like to create a new template (Berrylist/6 and Berrylist/h/6, I think) without that column.
Second, the Berry trees now have 7 stages of growth as opposed to 5.
This is where you planted the [Berry] Berry!
The [Berry] is sprouting!
The [Berry]'s seedling is growing well!
The [Berry]'s trunk is getting bigger!
The [Berry] tree has buds!
The [Berry] tree is in bloom!
(When the Berries have fruited and the tree is harvestable.)
In addition, sprouts may be different now; Rawst and Oran sprouts look different, for example. Right now we don't have sprites for any of these stages, but I think these should get a new template as well, like Tree/6.
Of course, none of the above would be too difficult to do within current templates, I just kind of think it'd be better if they were their own, new templates. What do you think? Tiddlywinks (talk) 16:42, 4 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
Well, they are sorted by their numbers, AFAIK. You could theoretically collect all the berries and sort them by type to get the numbers. Pikachu Bros. (talk) 16:46, 4 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi Jo, I just have a few questions, and I figured you'd be the best person to ask them as head of games here. A while back I made a few templates that I would assume are ready to be mainspaced, but I want to run it by you first. The first of these templates is User:Schiffy/Template:Warrior (or User:Schiffy/Template:Warrior/Full), which is intended for this page. I asked Berrenta to look over the first one, and she agreed it looks fine, but that someone higher up should decide (On a side note, in regards to that page, I noticed some Warriors using colors on their tables that don't match their type(s). It's only one or two, but it should probably be fixed). On a separate note, the other templates I set up a while back were User:Schiffy/Barry color and its light and dark equivalents. Just wondering of those could possibly be used. Thanks, Schiffy (瀬藤健二) (TalkContribs) 02:21, 5/1/2014 (UTC)
Essentially you're just taking the code already on the page and turning it into a template? Eh, I think Template:Warlord would be better. Then we could get rid of the gallery at the bottom, and fill in some of the information in the bullets. Also, we don't need a template for Barry colors. ★Jo the Marten★ಠ_ಠ♥07:11, 1 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Well yes, that's exactly what I did for the template. Essentially, I figured since the same table is being used 163 times on that page, it would make more sense to condense it. I suppose the Warlord template could work as well. The Barry thing just crossed my mind while I was helping with the Party -> Party/Single template switch, and I noticed nearly everything with Barry was using the same three hex color codes. If they're unnecessary, then fine. Schiffy (瀬藤健二) (TalkContribs) 15:07, 5/1/2014 (UTC)

Hey there! Apologies if you're not in charge of such matters, but I thought you're the most appropriate person to ask, being the Head of Games. I was wondering if an article on the Google Maps: Pokémon Challenge event would be warranted. It was motivated by the April Fools, but it took place for quite a while (in fact, it still does) and was with The Pokémon Company's endorsement. There's quite some content that can be documented, including the Pokémon on the Google Pokédex, with their index numbers and locations. I don't like these at all, and while I don't find the information that particularly useful (because the moves are all essentially the last 4 moves it could learn up to its current level), if we really want to have the information on the article(s), we could do a lot better in terms of presentation. You should not revert a whole edit that affects more than what you have issue with. I feel that since you have the problem, you should do the fixing up right, so I've reverted it (give or take a couple fixes/minor edits of my own) and you're free to add back in the colors (manually, instead of just reverting wholesale again, please). (Plus, I favor Lady Ariel's edit anyway: with the cells white, the table is brighter and more pleasant and it looks cleaner, as opposed to the dark colors for no needful reason.) Tiddlywinks (talk) 02:09, 1 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
...Okay, I'm half sorry. Upon double-checking it, it seems you didn't "just" revert Lady Ariel's edit. But you did still undo a whole lot of stuff that was completely unnecessary (the borders, the widths, the numbers, colspans, "color:"s). So I apologize for the mischaracterization. But still: please just add back/adjust the colors next time (/this time). Tiddlywinks (talk) 02:22, 1 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
Actually, I'm the highest authority on decisions regarding our gaming articles aside from the EiC and deputy so I actually can revert an entire edit if I disagree with it. That means neither you nor Lady Ariel have the power or the authority to make such a major change within my section without consulting me first, or at least discussing it. The white background looks bland and boring. The colors make it pop and it looks more appealing in my opinion. If you disagree, discuss it, and we will put it up to a poll, but do not simply change it because it's what you want. That design has been there since the articles were written. You can't just suddenly up and decide to change it. ★Jo the Marten★ಠ_ಠ♥02:57, 1 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
I respect your authority where it deserves respecting. To wit: if you insist, I'll bend regarding the color scheme (I won't even argue it, mostly because I don't know how to do so strongly enough). But your authority does not extend to useless code like all this. That is the main reason I undid your edit; the color scheme was entirely secondary. I thought you had merely reverted the whole edit without much thought, and I wanted you to be more discriminate in fixing your issue. Though I shortly realized that you hadn't actually reverted the whole edit, it was too late. Sadly, you still reverted practically the whole of my reversion as well, even after I tried to make my main issue clear to you. (You'll notice I only discussed the color scheme parenthetically.) That means you either didn't realize that the parts I re-edited afterwards were bloat/bad form or you didn't care. I hope the answer is that you didn't realize.
All I'm really saying is that I expected better of you and hoped you would do better. For whatever reason, though, my hopes were betrayed and you didn't or weren't able to. Perhaps we can both do better next time... Tiddlywinks (talk) 04:00, 1 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

I see you are the one responsible for proposing this whole mystery situation. Your reason, however, is vague. Based on your edit history, you had believed prior to contact that she was voiced by Ortiz like the rest and particularly rejected the concept of Jayne as a candidate. The way you removed Ortiz and go to such lengths suggests that your contact was with a proxy or Ortiz rather than one from Jayne. Therefore I ask you this: What exactly did your contact say? More specifically, did it particularly state that Jayne was not the voice of Bianca despite the credit list (in other words, did it say that the credits themselves were incorrect)?
Do not think ill of me; I want only what's best. And what I'd like is to see is this triviality that has somehow inflated to this mass taken care of once and for all. Rosebr10 (talk) 23:43, 5 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
I knew it. So then did you choose the "Unknown" label as an absolute defense rather than an indication of sheer ambiguity? I really like the new sprite boxes! However, after looking through, I saw that many of them have the wrong Generation in the part where it says, 'This Pokémon was unavailable prior to Generation '. For example: Wingull (Which has 'Gen' as the parameter name instead of 'gen'), Metagross, Oshawott, Tepig, Chandelure, and many, many more. But yes, we definitely agree with you that the two abilities are one and the same, just for two different types of moves. ★Jo the Marten★ಠ_ಠ♥01:21, 15 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
I'm sorry if you aren't the person to bother on this, but since you're the Head of Games, I figured you'd be a good person to bring it up to.
The list of Mystery Dungeon characters currently covers four different sets of games. It makes more sense to me to split the page up into four different pages--one for each set of games. It'd also be easier to navigate since there wouldn't be so many different sections on one page. I brought it up on the talk page for the article, but no one has responded. I wouldn't be in such a rush, except I plan on doing quite a few edits to some Mystery Dungeon articles, and it would involve linking to this list. So if the page is going to be split, I'd rather it be before I make all of the edits so that I won't have to go back and fix all the links.

I earlier interrupted what might have become an edit war to try to help figure out a solution to what was being edited. After a friendly chat, I made the call on how to mark Yellow for PEGI: unrated (I used N/A since it didn't exist at the time), and included a tooltip with the conflicting source listed as Pokémon UK, who claims it's rated. I know nothing about PEGI other than being told it was created in 2003, which was after Generation II.
As the Head of Games (this article, obviously, is a game), can you please review the discussion and my edit and determine if anything further should be done in regards to this? Other than contacting PEGI and getting official word from them, we have to go by the facts, I think. Feel free to outdent the discussion if you choose to comment. PokéDex entries/Game Locations
Latest comment: 5 January 20153 comments2 people in discussion
I would just like to ask for the PokéDex entries and Game Locations section in each individual "Species (Pokémon)" pages, for which games are supposed to be written in white or black texts. Some articles feature Omega Ruby with black text, while some others feature Omega Ruby in white text, same as for Alpha Sapphire, and maybe previous generations. Or either black or white text is acceptable? --Ruixiang95 (talk) 14:49, 5 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
Hi, hopefully I can take this one, Jo.
I'm already working on correcting this. I asked ht14 about this yesterday, who checked with the editor-in-chief and confirmed they are all to be white text. I have gone ahead just yesterday and updated all Hoenn Pokémon pages - which as you note were all mixed up even there - to now all have white text. This is the standard from what Kogoro says. Making Pokémon Yellow's PEGI rating be "3" by default and mentioning where it is from.
Latest comment: 5 January 20151 comment1 person in discussion
Hello. I was actually the one who started the discussion you dealt with regarding Pokémon Yellow's PEGI rating. Those of us who were involved in the discussion came to a slightly different conclusion than you did; we thought that since PEGI's actual website—the "more official" source—lables it unrated, we should make that the default choice while also noting (e.g., by tooltip) the other source's "3" rating. Although I'll respect your final decision, I request that you read our discussion in order to see why we came to the conclusion we did (unless you did read it already). Thanks! (As you may notice, I basically already posted this in the Pokémon Yellow PEGI Rating section above. I'm just re-posting this to make sure you got it.) —The Sackinator (talk) 17:14, 5 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
DexNav or hidden Pokémon
Latest comment: 11 January 20154 comments3 people in discussion
Just to tack on if this is OK, here's a related discussion. I would suggest that you never saw one until you received the DexNav, making them DexNav exclusive, but the arguments regarding not needing to actually load up DexNav to approach them carries weight here. This would be a case where I have to agree to disagree. CycloneGU (talk) 15:20, 11 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

I'm a bit confused as to why Swords Dance and Barrier are considered variations to a lot of moves on Template:Amnesia but much less on Template:Agility, which is the template used on their pages. It seems contradictory to me. Should those two be removed from the Acid Armor (template named Amnesia for some reason) variations? Or am I missing something obvious again? Do you think it would be worthy enough for Gengar to have its own article because it appeared in the games, anime, manga (except for Pokémon Adventures but three manga appears to be enough), and TCG, and is Morty's signature Pokémon? Pokemon Omega Ruby will be my first game, and the Saving article is a little unclear. Let's say the only pokemon I had was my starter and I made it to Petalburg Woods. Then I saved my game. The next day I caught 2 more pokemon and I wanted to save. Correct me if I am wrong, but since the game only allows one save file, then if I delete my first save file, what will happen? Will I lose my starter? Or did I misread and you only have to delete a save file if you want to start over? Please help! I think we should add this info to make the article more clear. Updating Movelist for Contest Condition Page
Latest comment: 31 January 20161 comment1 person in discussion
This had been long overdue, but I created updated versions of movelists for the Cool (condition), Beautiful (condition), Tough (condition), Cute (condition), and Clever (condition) for ORAS. Since the existing templates could not accommodate the new information, I had to make and test new templates on my userspace and left the up-to-date lists on the respective Talk pages. Anyways, I figured it would be really helpful for this belated information to be made available on the mainspace. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns regarding the new lists. I earlier ran this by Abcboy and was told to ask a member of the Editorial Board. I made a number of pages for the playable characters in Pokkén Tournament earlier this year and I believe the first one I finished is Blaziken's, as I can't think of anything else I need to add to it, other than screenshots and the voice actor, who I can't really find/figure out. Other than that, I think it might be ready for mainspacing, though I admit it may be a little "rough around the edges". Thank you for your time. Greninja Moveset error
Hello,
If I am correct Greninja can learn smack down from Froakie and Frogadier, yet in the moves by a prior evolution section it doesn't list that only bounce. There was no edit button on that page probably due to the new ash-greninja form in the sun and moon demo. It should be a quick, easy fix! Thanks!

If you can make it a page worth keeping, go for it. The reason it was deleted in the first place was because it was created with a single, poorly written sentence. ★Jo the Marten★ಠ_ಠ♥02:20, 15 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
Hello, I've used this site for a while but I'm new to the editing scene. I haven't been able to find out anything about this on my own, so I figured I'd ask somebody. =)
As you may know, introduced in Pokémon Sun and Moon for each Pokémon are unique QR Codes to scan with the QR Scanner and register them as "seen" in the Pokédex. This includes different QR Codes for Shinies, regional variants, gender differences, alternate forms/Formes, and combinations thereof. The QR Codes for any Pokémon can be viewed within the Pokédex, excluding "special" Pokémon such as Legendary and Mythical Pokémon. However, datamining has apparently revealed that even the "special" Pokémon have designated QR Codes. I've even scanned some of these QR Codes with my own copy of Pokémon Moon, and they work just fine.
Which leads me to my question: Are there plans to incorporate these QR Codes into the template for Pokémon species's pages? If there are plans, where might I be able to join the conversation? If there aren't yet plans, where might I be able to start that conversation?
I have learned my lesson on using the preview button before saving the edits. Can you please remove me from the forcepreview group? Gruntman 03:29, 15 June 2017 (UTC)

I am writing a sandboxed version of the {{alldex}} row template for use on a draft article (User:Force Fire/List of Pokémon that appear in multiple regional Pokédex) that is currently nominated for mainspacing. I want this sandboxed version to take into account whether a non-numeric input (like --- or ???) is fed to any of its parameters.
On the current version in templatespace, whenever a non-numeric input is fed to the s= parameter, as in the following example:
This is because of the following numeric comparison statement being executed by the template to determine whether or not to append Pt to the Sdex number:
{{#ifexpr: {{{s|001}}} > 151|{{Sup/4|Pt}}}}
The comparison {{{s|001}}} > 151 crashes whenever s= is non-numeric. So, I want to modify my sandboxed copy of {{alldex}} to not execute the numeric comparison above unless the input is purely numeric.
I want to ask if there is a wikicode command (like {{#ifnum: {{{in|def}}}|out}} or similar) that I can use in my template to check whether the input is a number (positive, negative, etc.) and execute the output only upon meeting that numeric constraint. That way, I could have my template do this without crashing or returning error messages:
I could also use such a construct to tell the template to supress any {{tt|*|}} tooltips for non-numeric inputs (like ---, used to express that a Pokémon is not in that regional Pokédex), so that for the example above I get something like this:
