Lugia (Japanese: ルギア Lugia) is a recurring Pokémon that appeared during the new series.
In the anime
Lugia first appeared in SS002, where it appeared just outside Vermilion City. Its appearance caused many Pokémon Trainers to engage it in battle but none of the attacks had an effect. As Lugia started to fly away, Ash and Go jumped onto Lugia, which led them to meet each other for the first time.
