Pokémon Origins
Mewtwo's origin in Pokémon Origins is essentially the same as in the games. At some point before the start of the series, Mr. Fuji created Mewtwo and fearing its power isolated himself in Lavender Town and kept to himself a last resort for a Trainer to use to defeat Mewtwo. In File 3:Giovanni, on his way through Cinnabar Island, Red finds the files that detail Mewtwo's creation process in the Pokémon Mansion.
At a certain point in the story in File 4:Charizard, after Red became Champion, Blue goes to Cerulean Cave and faces a mysterious Pokémon, during the battle Mewtwo manages to easily defeat Blue's Blastoise and even hurt the opposing Trainer.
Red encountered Mewtwo in the Cerulean Cave. It proved to be extremely tough to beat, easily defeating almost all of Red's Pokémon and breaking out of the initial Ultra Ball Red threw at it. However, once his Charizard Mega Evolved into Mega Charizard X, it was able to weaken Mewtwo enough to allow Red to finally catch it and finally managing to complete his Pokédex and have the 150 Pokémon in the Kanto region.

Pokémon Evolutions
Mewtwo is Elaine's second known Pokémon. She caught it in Cerulean Cave shortly before Green arrived there. In Elaine's battle against Green, it easily defeated her Mega Blastoise.
Personality and characteristics
Unlike other versions, this version of Mewtwo is more seeming to be more jolly and sportful, as shown after the battle with Green. Despite this, Mewtwo is extremely powerful, being able to easily defeat a Mega Evolved Blastoise without any difficulty.
Mewtwo is housed in an Ultra Ball.
