The Destiny Knot (Japanese: あかいいと Red Thread) is a type of held item introduced in Generation IV.

In battle
If the holder becomes infatuated, the Pokémon that the holder is in love with becomes infatuated as well.
Outside of battle
From Generation VI on, if held by a Pokémon in Day Care or Nursery, five of the parents' combined twelve IVs will be passed down to the child.
