Baton Pass (Japanese: バトンタッチ Baton Touch) is a non-damaging Normal-type move introduced in Generation II. In Generation VIII, it is TR29.
Effect
Generations II to IV
Baton Pass switches out the user, passing all temporary stat stage increases and decreases on to the Pokémon that replaces it in battle. Baton Pass also passes some volatile status conditions, namely confusion, getting pumped, taking aim, can't escape, Ability suppression, Leech Seed, Curse, Substitute, Ingrain, Power Trick, Heal Block, Embargo, Perish Song, Magnet Rise, and Aqua Ring. Ability suppression disappears if the replacement Pokémon's ability cannot be suppressed.
No matter what type of Poké Ball the user was captured in, the animation will always display a normal Poké Ball.
Baton Pass fails if there are no other Pokémon in the user's party that can be switched in in its place. Baton Pass will not change the effect of Pursuit. Baton Pass will also not pass the effect of Minimize causing Stomp to hit at double power nor the effect of Defense Curl causing Rollout and Ice Ball to hit at double power.
Generation V onwards
Baton Pass passes the effect of Telekinesis. This effect disappears if the replacement Pokémon is Mega Gengar. If a Pokémon inflicts "can't escape" on a target and then uses Baton Pass, the target will no longer be trapped. The effect can be passed only if the Pokémon that can't escape uses Baton Pass.
The correct type of Poké Ball the user was caught with is now displayed in the animation.
Baton Pass can also be used as part of a Contest Spectacular combination, with the user gaining extra three appeal points if a certain move (Agility, Amnesia, Autotomize, Calm Mind, Cotton Guard, Hone Claws, Nasty Plot, Rock Polish, or Shell Smash) was used in the prior turn.
If powered up by a Normalium Z into Z-Baton Pass, all of the user's lowered stats are reset.
Baton Pass cannot pass the critical hit rate boosts from G-Max Chi Strike.[1]

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series
In Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team, Baton Pass is a move with 19PP and 100% accuracy. The user targets all other Pokémon in the room and consecutively swaps places with them (assuming it doesn't miss them) in a mostly random order (prioritizing allies before enemies). A Pokémon that stays on a tile they cannot walk on will be warped away. This move is affected by Taunt.
In Explorers of Time, Darkness and Sky, the move's PP has been decreased to 15 and its accuracy to 75%.
