Pokémon multiverse

The Pokémon multiverse refers to a collection of alternate universes in the Pokémon media.

In the core series games

Pokémon Black and White

In Pokémon Black and White, it is said that Opelucid City is different in another world, with there being an alternate version of the city that is traditional^B/modern^W, referencing the fact that the city differs between the two versions of the game. The character Thyme^B/Bach^W (on the second floor in the building east of Drayden's house) requests to be shown a Pokémon that knows Charge from the alternate world and rewards the player with a Cell Battery once they show him such a Pokémon originating from the opposite version of the game.

Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire

In Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, Zinnia mentions that there is another similar yet different world where the war in Kalos 3000 years ago never occurred, so the ultimate weapon was never built and Mega Evolution consequently does not exist. This world contains an alternate version of the Hoenn region. This is a reference to Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, which are earlier games set in Hoenn that lack Mega Evolution.

In Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, Maxie^OR\Archie^AS mentions another world in which the player would battle Team Magma^OR/Team Aqua^AS. This is a reference to the opposite version of the game, implying that Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire take place in alternate universes to each other.

Pokémon Sun and Moon

In Pokémon Sun and Moon, Anabel is mentioned to have fallen onto Poni Island from another universe via an Ultra Wormhole, and was found by Looker and Nanu ten years before the events of the game. She remembers that she came from Hoenn and was a powerful Trainer who protected a tower, referencing her role in Pokémon Emerald.

During its post-game, an Ultra Wormhole appeared at the Altar of the Sunne^S/Altar of the Moone^M, leading to an alternate universe's version of the altar, but during the nighttime^S/daytime^M instead. In this world, a Lunala^S/Solgaleo^M can appear before the player's Solgaleo^S/Lunala^M at the Lake of the Moone^S/Lake of the Sunne^M. Together, they'll create a Cosmog that the player can obtain.

Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon

In Episode RR in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, Giovanni comes to Alola from an alternate universe in which Team Rocket was successful in achieving its goals. He then forms Team Rainbow Rocket by summoning other villainous team leaders from alternate worlds where they each also succeeded in their goals: Maxie, Archie, Cyrus, Ghetsis, and Lysandre. All of these leaders use Legendary Pokémon in battle. Colress uses his technology to send them back to their original worlds after they are each defeated by the player. Episode RR ends with Giovanni wondering what other worlds he could attack next before vanishing on his own.

Through the Ultra Warp Ride, it is possible to travel to other worlds, including an alternate universe's version of Alola known as the Ultra Ruin, which has been completly destroyed by Guzzlord.

• Traditional Opelucid City universe: An universe where Opelucid City possesses a traditional design, referencing the Pokémon White's version of the city.
• Modern Opelucid City universe: An universe where Opelucid City possesses a modern design, referencing the Pokémon Black's version of the city.
• No Mega Evolution universe: An universe where Kalos' war never happened so the Ultimate weapon was never built and the Mega Evolution phenomenon was never created by it, referencing the Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald's version of Hoenn.
• Team Aqua's battle universe: An universe where Team Aqua tried to control Kyogre to expand the oceans so humanity can be wiped out and the world returns to its origins, referencing the Pokémon Alpha Sapphire's version of the plot.
• Team Magma's battle universe: An universe where Team Magma tried to control Groudon to expand the landmasses so humanity can build and develop their civilation, referencing the Pokémon Omega Ruby's version of the plot.
• Anabel's original universe: An universe where in the Hoenn region, a powerful trainer named Anabel lived in, protecting a tower, before she was taken to another universe through an Ultra Wormhole, losing most of her memories, referencing the Pokémon Emeral version's of the region.
• Nighttime universe: An universe where in Alola, it's nighttime and where a Lunala lives in the Lake of the Moone.
• Daytime universe: An universe where in Alola, it's daytime and where a Solgaleo lives in the Lake of the Sunne.
• Successful Team Rocket's universe: An universe where Giovanni succeeded in his plans with Team Rocket, taking over Kanto and travelling to other universes and forming the Team Rainbow Rocket with other team leaders to conquer more universes together.
• Successful Team Magma's universe: An universe where Mega Evolution doesn't exist and Maxie's Team Magma succeeded in defeating Team Aqua, expanding the landmasses but causing a fissure to open beneath Maxie, right before he was warped into another universe during his fall.
• Successful Team Aqua's universe: An universe where Mega Evolution doesn't exist and Archie's Team Aqua succeeded in defeating Team Magma, expanding the oceans but causing a large wave to swallow Archie, right before he was warped into another universe during it.
• Successful Team Galactic's universe: An universe where Cyrus' Team Galactic succeeded in using Dialga^US/Palkia^UM to destroy his universe and create a new one without a spirit, but before that was possible, a shadow engulfed him, taking him to another universe.
• Successful Team Flare's universe: An universe where Lysandre's Team Flare succeeded in using Xerneas/Yveltal to power up the Ultimate weapon and shoot it to kill all who are not members of Team Flare, but before he sees the outcome, he was taken to another universe.
• Successful Team Plasma's universe: An universe where Ghetsis's Team Plasma succeeded in using N to trick the people of Unova and take over the region now with the possession of Zekrom^US/Reshiram^UM before he was somehow taken to another universe.
• Ruined Hau'oli City universe: An universe where Hau'oli City and apparently the whole world, was attacked and destroyed by the Ultra Beast, Guzzlord.

In the spin-off games

Pokémon Masters EX

Giovanni is the same one that appeared in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, as he is the leader of Team Rainbow Rocket.

Cyrus is also the same one that appeared in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, as he says that he was about to use Dialga and Palkia to remake the world when he was interrupted by Hoopa's ring.

A different version of Ghetsis from Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 is playable in this game. Before arriving in Pasio, Ghetsis was about to confront the player from the original game when he was also interrupted by Hoopa's ring.

The Team Rocket trio from the alternate movie continuity is somehow trasnported to Pasio while chasing a Shiny Celebi.

During the The Classic Thunderbolt special event, Ash from the anime universe accidentally wound up on Pasio while training for the Masters Eight Tournament.

During the Twin Stars Far Apart story event, Liza and Anabel wind up in an alternate world version of Pasio through an Ultra Wormhole. This world appears to house no humans, but does contain several Ultra Beasts, which appear to have wound up there by chance. The two Trainers eventually return to their own world through another wormhole.

A different version of Rose and Oleana from Pokémon Sword and Shield are playable in this game. This version of Rose and Oleana are from a world where they have not yet caused the Darkest Day.

Mirror Ash

The Mirror World appears in The Cave of Mirrors!. It is similar to the regular Pokémon world, except that the humans and Pokémon found in the Mirror World have mirrored appearances and opposite personalities compared to their regular world counterparts.
