In the Biology section, it states that Spearow is monochromatic (sees in black and white). This is quite different from how real birds see, as most of them, including the sparrows and shrikes Spearow is likely based on, are tetrachromatic (sees in 4 colors; in birds, these are typically red, green, blue, and ultraviolet). Spearow's origin?
Obviously Spearow is not based on a sparrow (we already have Pidgey for that). But could it draw some influence from a chicken (particularly the male chicken, the cock/rooster) ?
- Spearows can be temperamental/aggressive in defending their territory. (Chickens can also be aggressive; rooster to rooster, hen to hen, or hen protecting a nest)
- It must flap its wings rapidly, and lacks the endurance to fly long, high, or far. (Chickens also fly for only short distances.)
- Spearow has a loud territorial cry.
- Spearow's wings (when folded) have a much more upturned angle than other bird Pokémon, and its evolution has a clear rooster-like comb.

Potential trivia
In the Biology section, it states that Spearow is monochromatic (sees in black and white). This is quite different from how real birds see, as most of them, including the sparrows and shrikes Spearow is likely based on, are tetrachromatic (sees in 4 colors; in birds, these are typically red, green, blue, and ultraviolet). (Wikipedia link; article has many reliable citations)
