Briar (Japanese: ブライア Briar) is a character introduced in The Teal Mask in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. She is a teacher at Blueberry Academy, the descendant of historian Heath, and also the one in possession of the original Scarlet BookS/Violet BookV.

In the core series games

Briar is a descendant of Heath, the author of the Scarlet BookS/Violet BookV.[1] She owns the original copy of the book, which contains unredacted information on the Pokémon Terapagos.[2] As Heath was discredited for his writings in the book, Briar seeks to find Terapagos in order to prove Heath's theories correct. While waiting for her request to enter Area Zero to be approved, she leads the player and several other students on a class trip to Kitakami.

She later was given permission to finally start a new expedition to Area Zero alongside the player, Kieran, and Carmine.
