This round starts on the magnet train. Inside, [[Clair]] states that the [[Neo Team Rocket]] soldiers are controlled by another [[Gym Leader]], and goes after [[Blaine]] in revenge of [[Lance]]. As they battle, the other Gym Leaders leave to help battle Team Rocket in the other train cars. In one of them, [[Erika]] realizes that [[Misty]] has feelings for {{adv|Red}}, while Clair reveals to Blaine that Lance is her cousin. His father fell in love with a woman from [[Viridian City]], and they were banished from the Dragon Clan. It also explains why Lance has healing powers.  
The [[Gym Leader]]s of both [[Kanto]] and [[Johto]] battle the numerous masked [[Team Rocket Grunt]]s inside the [[Magnet Train]], which has left the [[Indigo Plateau]]. Eventually they come to the realization that they were tricked into entering the train. [[Clair]] uses her whip and her {{p|Dragonair}} to keep three grunts at bay, then declares the culprit behind the train trap to be among the Gym Leaders. She thus catches [[Blaine]]'s arm with her whip, and fends off protests from the other Kanto Gym Leaders. They and their Johto counterparts move to other carriages, leaving Blaine and Clair in the carriage they are in, to have the {{wp|exhibition game|exhibition match}} that Blaine missed.


After Clair aggressively attacks Blaine with her {{p|Dragonair}}'s {{m|Outrage}}, he defeats her with {{p|Entei}}, revealing that Entei chose him for his partner. Blaine starts running, and Misty joins him in another car, while [[Lt. Surge]] tries to snap the [[Team Rocket Elite Trio]] out of their daze. He rips off their mask in a last effort, after which they regain their willpower and spirit for Team Rocket. Surge leaves the triad to break all the rest of the soldier's masks, and departs for [[Indigo Plateau]].

The Last Battle II (Japanese: 最終決戦II The Last Battle II) is the 168th chapter of the Pokémon Adventures manga, and the 78th chapter of the Gold, Silver & Crystal arc.

The Gym Leaders of both Kanto and Johto battle the numerous masked Team Rocket Grunts inside the Magnet Train, which has left the Indigo Plateau. Eventually they come to the realization that they were tricked into entering the train. Clair uses her whip and her Dragonair to keep three grunts at bay, then declares the culprit behind the train trap to be among the Gym Leaders. She thus catches Blaine's arm with her whip, and fends off protests from the other Kanto Gym Leaders. They and their Johto counterparts move to other carriages, leaving Blaine and Clair in the carriage they are in, to have the exhibition match that Blaine missed.

Clair uses the impromptu battle as an opportunity to confront Blaine over Lance, a close member of Clair's dragon clan who Blaine fought a year ago. Hearing no answers, Clair has her Dragonair launch an Outrage, only for the silhouette of a Legendary beast to surround Blaine and reflect the attack back at Clair and her Dragonair. Blaine walks calmly over to his fallen opponent to assure her that Lance is alright, before moving further down the train to join Misty and the others.

Meanwhile, Lt. Surge is in the carriage just ahead, and notice the Team Rocket Elite Trio seemingly oblivious to him while under their masks. Lt. Surge recites the Team Rocket pledge to shatter their masks and restore their pride.
