Pokémon: Twilight Wings (Japanese: 薄明の翼 Twilight Wings) is an animated miniseries based on Pokémon Sword and Shield set in the Galar region. It consists of seven episodes and one special episode, each approximately five minutes in length.
Episodes premiered monthly from January 15 to August 6, 2020 on the official Pokémon YouTube channels, and Pokémon TV. The first three and last episodes were made available starting at 10:00 PM JST (1:00 PM UTC), while the fourth, fifth, and sixth episodes were made available starting at 2:00 PM JST (5:00 AM UTC). The series is available with Japanese, English, and Korean audio and German, Spanish, French, Italian, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese subtitles. The Thai dub premiered weekly beginning on September 2, 2020 on TrueID.
On October 23, 2020, a special episode titled The Gathering of Stars based on the Pokémon Sword and Shield Expansion Pass was announced. It was made available on November 5, 2020 starting at 11:00 PM JST (2:00 PM UTC).
Blurb
Galar is a region where Pokémon battles have developed into a cultural sensation. Over the span of seven episodes, “Pokémon: Twilight Wings” will show in detail the dreams of Galar’s residents, the realities they face, the challenges they must overcome and the conflicts they must resolve. In addition to these new stories, fans can expect to see a variety of Pokémon originally discovered in the Galar region appearing in the capsule series.
Plot
Each episode focuses on a different character and is connected by a Cabbie and his Flying Taxi. John, a boy who has been in the hospital since childhood, is a fan of Champion Leon and dreams of watching him battle live. The story begins when John is visited by Chairman Rose.
The plot of the series takes place right before the events of Pokémon Sword and Shield, ending with Leon's exhibition match against Raihan seen during the game's introduction.[citation needed]
