Plot
As Ash and ashfr try to find the nearest Pokémon Center, they hear a roar. They come to a theater, where they see a Hawlucha bullying a Snubbull. As Pikachu uses Thunderbolt, a Gallade comes. The Pokémon dodge, but Gallade injures his leg. Snubbull is angry and uses Thunder Fang on Ash. Suddenly, the lights turn on, making a man displeased they interrupted the rehearsal. Later, at the Pokémon Center, the heroes introduce themselves to Carl, the director of the play. Ash apologizes, as they thought Snubbull was being bullied. Carl tells the play is called "Super Pokémon Battle", a mixture of Pokémon battles and drama. Practically, it is a magnificent battle between "Dark" (Hawlucha) and "Shining" (Gallade).
As Ash and ashfr are continuing their journey to Coumarine City, they are passing through a forest. On their way, they then hear a scream from afar. Running towards the sound, they see Snubbull being threatened by a Shiny Hawlucha. Ash orders Pikachu to use Thunderbolt, but Hawlucha and Snubbull avoid the attack. Gallade, who at that time was running onto the scene, also dodges the move. But as Gallade lands, it injures its foot. Snubbull becomes angered and attacks Ash with its Thunder Fang. The lights then turn on, revealing the scene of a show. A man from behind then shouts at Ash to stop interrupting their rehearsal.

Gallade comes out, his leg being bandaged. Nurse Joy clarifies his leg will heal in two to three days. Carl sees he will have to cancel the play, making Ash sad he also ruined the play. Bonnie asks if another Pokémon could take Gallade's place and suggests Ash's Hawlucha. Carl sees he has no choice, so runs off to rewrite the script, while Serena praises Bonnie for such a good idea. Next day, Ash sends out Hawlucha, while Carl explains Ash's Hawlucha battles Dark Hawlucha to save Lady Snubbull. Dark Hawlucha has the upper hand, but Ash's Hawlucha would make a counterattack and win.
At the Pokémon Center, the director introduces himself as Carl. The group apologizes for their actions, and Carl explains that the play is a Super Pokémon Battle show; entertainment involving a blend of acting and battling. Nurse Joy then comes forward with Gallade's leg bandaged, and tells Carl that it would need two or three days to heal up. Carl sadly comments that the show is tomorrow, and that he must cancel the show. Bonnie then suggests putting another Pokemon to replace Gallade in the show. She suggests Ash's Ash would be great for the role. Excited, Carl then runs off to write the script for tomorrow's show. Later, the rehearsal begins and Carl explains the new plot to everyone. The show will be a battle between Ash's Shining Hawlucha the Hero, and Carl's Dark Hawlucha. Shining Hawlucha will rescue Lady Snubbull from Dark Hawlucha, and though Shining Hawlucha will appear to be losing at first, will be victorious at the end.

The scene begins, as the Hawlucha clash with each other. Dark Hawlucha wraps him and goes to throw him away, but Ash's Hawlucha manages to dodge. Everyone tells Ash's Hawlucha has to act flying, for Dark Hawlucha was to throw him away. Ash's Hawlucha jumps and uses High Jump Kick, hitting Dark Hawlucha. Everyone is disappointed as Ash's Hawlucha does not stick to the script, for he does actual battling. Hawlucha repeats the play, so Dark Hawlucha throws Ash's Hawlucha away. Dark Hawlucha comes to use Karate Chop, so Hawlucha counterattacks. However, both get angry and start hitting each other. Everyone separates them, so Dark Hawlucha walks away, displeasing Carl for this bad performance.
The two Hawlucha then begin to rehearse, but as Carl's Hawlucha begins to throw Ash's Hawlucha, Ash's Hawlucha escapes its grip. The group shout to Ash's Hawlucha that the battle is only make-believe and that he must allow Dark Hawlucha to throw him. The rehearsal continues, but as the battle scene becomes intense, the two Hawlucha begin to argue and fight. The rehearsal then stops for the meantime. Meanwhile, TRT is looking on. They plan to capture the Pokemon involved in the popular Super Pokémon Battle show to either give to their boss, or keep for themselves to host battle shows.

TRT spy and see they could catch all the Pokémon for Giovanni, plus they can make some plays of their own to earn cash. Ash's Hawlucha is sad, so the heroes encourage it, for it is Hawlucha's first time acting. Suddenly, they see Dark Hawlucha climbing a tree and falls down. They think it is practicing safe falling. Carl explains to them Hawlucha competed in a tournament and became a Champion. However, Carl made a mistake and caused Hawlucha to get hurt. With that strain, it cannot compete in regular Pokémon battles. Still, even with that accident, it still has not lost its pride, for Dark Hawlucha does its best in Super Pokémon Battles.
Back with Ash's Hawlucha, Hawlucha is on a bridge away from the rehearsal, feeling sad over his failings. The group approach him and encourage him to start rehearsing again. Just then, they hear a sound from afar; the sound of Dark Hawlucha practicing its battle dive. Carl approaches the group and explains that he used to coach Dark Hawlucha, and that Hawlucha had been the champion of the Kalos region's Fighting Tournament. However, it had been hurt in one of the tournaments, and had not battled full-on since. Carl had then thought up of the Super Pokémon Battle shows, which were much less physically demanding. Into the night, Ash and Ash's Hawlucha rehearse with each other, with Dark Hawlucha observing them secretly.

Later, Ash trains Hawlucha for the scene in the play, while Dark Hawlucha observes. Later, Carl tells them the rehearsal is over and it is nearly the time for the play. Clemont is worried Hawlucha may not act very well, but Ash has faith in both of them. Later, the viewers gather to see the play. Team Rocket, disguised, are also among the viewers. Jessie sees the spotlights and has the urge to show herself, even if James and MTR remind her why they are here. Team Rocket show themselves, though the heroes and the Hawlucha appear. James reminds Jessie of their task, who sends Jessie, along with James. Inkay uses Psybeam, which hits Pikachu.
The next night, the battle show begins. Team Rocket is disguised in the crowd, and Jessie, unable to resist the lure of the spotlight, runs off despite James and MTR's protests. The show then starts with Jessie disguised in a red dress, along with James and Meowth on stage. Carl rushes onto stage, demanding to know who they are. Team Rocket then recite their motto and reveal their true selves. Ash and the group, who have also rushed onto stage, begin to battle against James and Jessie. Inkay's Psybeam hits Pikachu, knocking it out. Team Rocket continue attacking, now aiming at the two Hawlucha. However, both Hawlucha dodge Team Rocket's attacks, until they are forced back-to-back, surrounded by Team Rocket. The two then agree to help each other out. After dodging a Psybeam and Shadow Ball, the Hawlucha attack Pumpkaboo and Inkay, eventually causing Team Rocket to blast off. The crowd then reacts wildly, thinking it was just part of the show.

Pumpkaboo uses Shadow Ball, but misses. Inkay uses Psybeam, which causes the Hawlucha to dodge. However, Dark Hawlucha is hit by Shadow Ball. The Hawlucha stand near each other and combine their forces. Inkay uses Psybeam and Pumpkaboo Shadow Ball, but both miss. Hawlucha spins around Dark Hawlucha and uses High Jump Kick on Inkay, knocking it out on Pumpkaboo. Using Flying Press, Hawlucha blasts Team Rocket off. The viewers are amazed by this event, though Carl carries on with the play. As Dark Hawlucha bullies Lady Snubbull, Shining Hawlucha appears. However, Hawlucha is nervous and falls down. Dark Hawlucha helps Shining Hawlucha stand up, for it is not part of the script.
The main event, the Super Pokémon Battle show, then continues. However, Ash's Hawlucha is nervous and falls onto the stage. Unexpectedly, Dark Hawlucha gives Ash's Hawlucha a hand, and then the two begin to battle off the scripts. As the crowd gets behind Shining Hawlucha, the battle scene is imagined to a fighting ring, as if seen from the eyes of Dark Hawlucha's past. Carl, looking on at Dark Hawlucha's expression, reminisces that he had not seen it like this in so long. Excitedly, he comments that Dark Hawlucha must have been moved by Ash's Hawlucha's raw determination and spirit. With Ash cheering on for his Hawlucha, and Carl cheering on for his own Hawlucha, the battle continues. Ash's Hawlucha eventually comes out as the victor of the intense battle. Afterwards, Ash's Hawlucha gives Dark Hawlucha a hand as the crowd roars on.

Hawlucha uses Karate Chop on Dark Hawlucha, who attacks him back with the same attack. The heroes are not pleased, for it is not in the script, but Carl waits, for the viewers support both Hawlucha. Carl sees Dark Hawlucha feels like being in a ring, like it battled for the title of Champion. Shining Hawlucha attacks Dark Hawlucha, tossing it and attacking it with High Jump Kick. The viewers support Dark Hawlucha, who stands up and clashes with Shining Hawlucha. Everyone is pleased, for Ash's Hawlucha inspired Dark Hawlucha to act so lively. Shining Hawlucha tries to use Flying Press, but Dark Hawlucha avoids the attack. Carl is happy, for Dark Hawlucha is enjoying the moment. After a final clash, Dark Hawlucha is defeated.
The next day, Carl thanks the group, revealing that Gallade's leg is now fully healed.

The heroes are glad the play turned out to be well. Shining Hawlucha comes to Dark Hawlucha, helping it stand up. Next day, the heroes thank Carl and his Hawlucha on this experience, but Carl thanks them back, for everyone enjoyed the play. With Gallade's leg healed, Carl is able to spread the play further. Carl wishes Ash luck in his mission to become the Champion, while Dark Hawlucha shakes hands with Ash's Hawlucha. Carl bids the group farewell and leaves in a truck.

Blurb

When Ash and Pikachu attempt to rescue a Snubbull from asinister[sic] Hawlucha, they accidentally injure the Gallade who's swooping in to protect Snubbull. That's when they discover that they've interrupted a rehearsal of a Super Pokémon Battle show! The director, Carl, explains that the show combines a Pokémon battle with a scripted storyline—but since one of his stars is injured, he’ll have to call off tomorrow’s performance.

Bonnie has a better idea: she suggests that Ash's Hawlucha step in to fill the role of the shining hero! Hawlucha has some trouble with the idea of a staged battle, but the show must go on. When the curtain goes up, Team Rocket tries to steal the show, but Hawlucha and Dark Hawlucha team up to blast them off. Then the two Pokémon clash with each other in an intense battle over "Lady Snubbull," and the Super Pokémon Battle show is a huge success!

Plot

As Ash and his friends are continuing their journey to Coumarine City, they are passing through a forest.

She suggests Ash's Hawlucha would be great for the role.

Meanwhile, Team Rocket is looking on. They plan to capture the Pokemon involved in the popular Super Pokémon Battle show to either give to their boss, or keep for themselves to host battle shows.

Carl approaches the group and explains that he used to coach Dark Hawlucha, and that Hawlucha had been the champion of the Kalos region's Fighting-type Tournament.

The next night, the battle show begins. Team Rocket is disguised in the crowd, and Jessie, unable to resist the lure of the spotlight, runs off despite James and Meowth's protests. The show then starts with Jessie disguised in a red dress, along with James and Meowth on stage. Carl rushes onto stage, demanding to know who they are. Team Rocket then recite their motto and reveal their true selves. Ash and the group, who have also rushed onto stage, begin to battle against Inkay and Pumpkaboo.

The next day, Carl thanks the group, revealing that Gallade's leg is now fully healed.
