(I added a summary about Ash during his time in Masters. I tried to keep his history short while only giving information that is important for Masters. For the special events, I basically summarized the story of those events to only focus on Ash to keep it from being too long, which is why Red isn't mention here, as he never directly interact with Ash. I think this is fine as a summary, and I hope this isn't to long. Feel free to edit any spelling mistakes I made, or change it for better wording.)

Ash has experienced all the events from Pokémon the Sereis up until he became a member of the Masters Eight. Ash's starter Pokémon, Pikachu, was given to him by Professor Oak after he woke up late on the day he was set to get his first Pokémon. Although at first Pikachu didn't listen to Ash, after risking himself to protect his Pokémon, he earned Pikachu's trust, and the two have been inseparable ever since. While still traveling in Kanto, Ash caught a Charmander, who happily obeyed him until he evolved into a Charmeleon and Charizard. After showing love and care towards his Charizard, despite Charizard's disobedience, Ash's Charizard regained full loyalty towards his trainer. While staying in Alola, Ash obtains Pikashunium Z, which allows Pikachu to use the Z-Move, 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt, and later became the first Champion of Alola. While training for the Masters Eight Tournament, Ash somehow ended up in Pasio. By the time the player (Scottie or Bettie) and Tina found Ash, he had passed out due to hunger. After taking Ash to Lear to help feed him, Ash asks Lear where he is. After Lear explains what Pasio is to Ash, he asks him if he is confident in his battling skills, which prompts Ash to show off his entire team that he had during Pokémon Journeys: The Series, which impresses Lear. Ash asks Lear if he could stay in Pasio to train for the Masters Eight Tournament, which Lear allows. Lear then leaves and tells Ash that if he has further questions about Pasio ask the player or Tina for answers. Before Lear leaves, Ash asks him if they can battle when Lear isn't busy, to which Lear agrees.
While training for the Masters Eight Tournament, Ash somehow ended up on Pasio. By the time the player (Scottie or Bettie) and Tina find Ash, he has passed out due to hunger. The player and Tina take Ash to Lear to feed him, and after recovering his strength, Ash asks Lear where he is. After Lear explains what Pasio is to Ash, Lear asks him if he is confident in his battling skills. Ash shows off his entire team that he had during Pokémon Journeys: The Series, which impresses Lear. Ash asks Lear if he could stay on Pasio to train for the Masters Eight Tournament, which Lear allows. Lear has to leave and attend to other business, so he tells Ash to ask the player or Tina if he has further questions about Pasio. Before Lear leaves, Ash asks him if they can battle another time when Lear isn't busy, to which Lear agrees.

Later the player battles Ash to help show him what a sync move is. Tina then battles Ash, and while battling, Tina fails to perform a sync move with her Flareon, while Ash successfully performs his first sync move with his Pikachu. Ash asks why Tina couldn't perform the sync move, with Tina saying that they might need more training, although she mentions that this has never happened before. Pikachu tries to cheer up Flareon, only for Flareon to scare him away. After Faleron attacks Tina and runs away, Ash asks if Tina and her Faleron usually fight. Tina explains that her Flareon never fought with her when he was an Eevee, but has become a bit feisty ever since it evolved. Ash assures Tina that her Faleron is going through a rebellious stage. Ash further explains that he has met all kinds of Pokémon throughout his journey and that he has been through a similar situation that Tina is going through. Ash also says that he and Pikachu have also had their difference when they first met and assures Tina that she and Falreon will be fine because Flaeron is important to her. The player, Ash, and Tina then head out to find Falreon.
Later, the player battles Ash to demonstrate what a sync move is. Ash then has a battle against Tina, which Ash wins by successfully performing his first sync move with his Pikachu. However, Tina fails to perform a sync move with her Flareon during the battle, and Ash wonders why that is. Tina shrugs it off, saying that they just need more practice. Pikachu tries to cheer up Flareon, only for Flareon to scare him away. After Flareon attacks Tina and runs away, Ash asks if Tina and her Flareon usually fight. Tina says that Flareon never fought with her when he was an Eevee, but he has become a bit feisty ever since he evolved. Ash tells Tina that her Flareon is going through a rebellious stage. He explains that he has met all kinds of Pokémon throughout his journey, and he has been through a similar situation to what Tina is going through. He just had to start telling his Pokémon how he felt, that he wanted to get along with them, and that allowed them to understand each other better. Ash adds that he and Pikachu also had their difference when they first met and assures Tina that she and Flareon will be fine because Flareon is important to her. The player, Ash, and Tina then head out to find Flareon.

While searching for Tina's Flareon, she suspects that Team Break might have taken Flareon. Team Break then shows up saying that Tina will never get her Faleron back. Ash is confused about Team Break, with Tina explaining to him that they are a group of trainers who steal other Trainer's Pokémon. Ash then asks Team Break what they had meant earlier, they then show that Tina's Flareon had joined them. The player and Ash battle Team Break, with Ash having difficulty going all out against a friend's Pokémon. The player tries to help but their Pikachu is knocked out by Team Break's Pokémon. Tina becomes distraught by the turn of events, but Ash tells her she can't give up, and encourages her to tell Faleron how she feels. Faleron is moved by Tina's speech, with Team Break disappointed that Faleron is still loyal to his Trainer, so they send a Crobat to knock him out, but Ash takes the attack to protect Flareon. Tina is surprised by Ash's actions, with Ash telling Faleron to go back to Tina, as he knows he hates being apart from her. Once Flaeron reunited with Tina, Ash and Pikachu knocked out Team Break's Crobat. At first Team Break wasn't too concerned about their loss until Ash brought out his entire team to battle them. This causes Team Break to flee from Ash, which leads to him, the player, and Tina celebrating their victory.
After searching for Flareon for a while with no success, Tina starts to suspect that he was stolen by some of the bad people on the island. Suddenly, Team Break shows up saying that Tina will never get her Flareon back. For Ash's benefit, Tina explains that they're a group of Trainers who mess with their tournaments and steal people's Pokémon. Ash then asks Team Break what they meant, and they reveal that Tina's Flareon has joined them. The player and Ash battle Team Break to get Flareon back, but Ash has difficulty going all out against a friend's Pokémon and the player's Pikachu is knocked out by Team Break's other Pokémon. Tina is distraught at this turn of events, but Ash encourages her to not give up and tell Flareon how she feels. After she tells Flareon her feelings, Flareon is moved, and Team Break is annoyed that Flareon is still loyal to his Trainer. They send a Crobat to knock him out, but Ash takes the attack to protect Flareon. Ash tells Flareon that he's Tina's partner and Ash knows he hates being apart from her, prompting Flareon to return to her side. Once Flareon reunites with Tina, Ash and Pikachu knock out Team Break's Crobat with ease. Team Break doesn't want to give up just yet, but Ash sends out his full team to challenge them, causing them to chicken out and flee. Ash, the player, and Tina celebrate their victory.

Afterwards, Ash realizes that Faleron was just jealous and thought that Tina was going to be taken away from him. Ash then asks Tina if she wants to battle again to help cheer her up from the events that happened today. The two then proceed to battle.
Later, Ash guesses that Flareon was just jealous and thought that Tina was going to be taken away from him because he lost to Pikachu. Ash then invites Tina to battle again to cheer her up from the day's events, and the two proceed to battle.

While walking in Pasio, the player (Scottie or Bettie), Ash, and Tina notice a crowd surrounding a screen, with Ash noticing that Lear is on the screen. Lear announces a single battle tournament called the "Single Master Challenge Cup" for trainers who just arrived in Pasio, with the finalist being able to challenge the leader of the team that won the first-ever PML. The group is shocked, with Ash remembering that the player was the leader of the team that won the first PML tournament. Ash is at first confused by the nature of the tournament, as he thought battles on Passio were usually team battles, and wonders why the tournament is in single battles. Tina thinks it's because the tournament is for new Trainers in Pasio, and Lear wants them to give it their all in a format they're used to rather than force them into teams. Tina and Ash decide to enter the tournament, with Ash saying he also wants to have a serious battle with the player on a big stage.
While walking through Centra City, the player (Scottie or Bettie), Ash, and Tina notice a crowd has gathered to watch an announcement that Lear is making. He announces a single battle tournament called the "Single Master Challenge Cup" for Trainers who just arrived on Pasio, with the winner being able to challenge the leader of the team that won the first-ever PML. This shocks the whole group, especially after Ash remembers that the player was the leader of the team that won the first PML tournament. Ash wonders why the tournament is for single battles instead of Pasio's standard team battles; Tina guesses that it's because the tournament is for Trainers who are new to Pasio, and they'll be able to do better in a battle format they're used to. Tina and Ash both decide to enter the tournament, with Ash declaring that he wants to have a serious battle with the player on a big stage.

In the "Single Master Challenge Cup," both Trainers can use 3 Pokémon, and the battle ends when either Trainer's Pokémon are all knocked out. The preliminary round begins, with Ash's first opponent being Rochelle from Lilycove City in Hoenn. Ash first sends out Sirfetch'd against Rochelle's Salamence. During the battle, Ash recalls Sirfetch'd due to Salamence attacking in the air, and sends out Dragonite to counter. Dragonite manages to knock out Rochelle's Salamence. Rochelle then sends out her Glalie, who knocks out Dragonite. Eventually, Sirfetch'd defeated Glalie, who was then defeated by Rochelle's Banette. Both are down to one Pokémon left, with Ash sending out Gengar as his last Pokémon. Both Pokémon seem to be evenly matched, but Ash decides to Gigantamax his Gengar in order to defeat Rochelle's Banette, causing Ash to win the round.

Both Pokémon seem to be evenly matched until Ash Gigantamaxes his Gengar, defeating Rochelle's Banette and winning him the battle.

Ash's next opponent was Axel from Hau'oli City in Alola. Ash had his Dracovish battle against Axel's Kommo-o, with Dracovish ending up knocking it out. Axel then sends out his Salazzle to battle Dracovish, with Ash recalling Dracovish after it got poisoned. Ash then sends out Pikachu to battle, with Pikachu's speed overwhelming Axel's Salazzle, leading it to be knocked out. Axel sends out his last Pokémon Tsareena. Ash has Pikachu attack Tsareena with Thunderbolt but is surprised when Axel reveals that his Tsareena is immune to Electric-type moves, Tsareena then knocks out Pikachu. Ash decides to send out his Lucario to finish things off. Ash then Mega Evolves his Lucario and after a few hits from each side, Axel's Tsareena was knocked out, leading Ash to win another round.

Finally, the "Single Master Challenge Cup" finals begin, with Ash's opponent being the player. Ash first sends out Dracovish, while the player sends out Torchic. Ash has Dracovish use Water Gun, as Torchic keeps dodging the attack, but it turns out that Ash wanted to wet the ground with Water Gun in order to freeze it later with Ice Fang, causing Torchic to not move. Ash then has Dracovish slide on the frozen ground and use Fishious Rend to knock out Torchic. The player then sends out Solgaleo as their next Pokémon, shocking Ash. Ash has Dracovish attack with Fishious Rend, but is then knocked out by Solgaleo. Ash then sends out Sirfetch'd to battle and with the use of Detect to dodge and Fury Cutter to attack, Sirfetch'd manages to knock out Solgaleo, while also knocking himself out in the process, resulting in a double knockout. Both Ash and the player decide to send out their respective Pikachus as their final Pokémon. Both Pikachus are evenly matched, but Ash uses the sync move Best Buds 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt in order to defeat the player, thus making Ash the winner of the "Single Master Challenge Cup".
Finally, Ash reaches the last battle of the tournament, where he gets to fight the player. Ash first sends out Dracovish, while the player sends out Torchic. The player, Tina, and Lear congratulate Ash on the win. Lear then asks Ash if he has forgotten about their promise to battle each other, which Ash says he hasn't forgotten. Lear, Rachel, and Sawyer, then begin their battle against the player, Tina, and Ash.

*Where Are We?!
: "Where are we?"
: "I'm so hungry, Pikachu..."
: "Maybe we trained a little too hard..."
: "Aw, man... I can't take it anymore..."

*Ash's Sync Move Practice
: "Mmm, that food was great! That was a huge help! Thanks!"
: "Uh... So, could you explain what this place is?"
: "Whoa, really? So Trainers from all over the world come here? And you're, like, the king and creator of this place?! That's so cool!"
: "Of course! I'm really good at battling!"
: "Come on out, everyone!"
: "I'm Ash, from Pallet Town! My dream is to become a Pokémon Master!"
: "By the way, we've been training for this thing called the Masters Eight Tournament!"
: "If you don't mind us being here, could we stay on Pasio for a while?"
: "Awesome! Thanks, Lear!"
: "OK!"
: "Thanks, <player>! And...what was your name again?"
: "Yeah! Nice to meet you!"
: "Oh! Wait, Lear! One more thing!"
: "Once you're done with whatever you're busy with, let's have a battle!"
: "Whoa! So that's a sync move, huh!"
: "I wanna try that, too! I wonder if I can do it!"
: "Yup! There's supposed to be something called a sync stone in there. It turns the strength of your bond with your Pokémon into power, right?"
: "Sure thing! Ready when you are, Tina!"
: "What?!"
: "What's the matter? If you're not gonna use your move, then I guess it's our turn!"
: "Wait, was that–"
: "Really? That was it?! We did it, Pikachu!"

*Flareon's Rebellion
: "I wonder why your sync move didn't work, Tina."
: "Do you usually have fights like that with Flareon?"
: "Don't worry, Tina. Flareon's just going through a rebellious stage."
: "Yeah. Y'see, I've traveled around a lot and caught tons of different Pokémon."
: "Everyone's got their own personality, so I've seen it all!"
: "I've butted heads with my Pokémon every now and then...just like how you and Flareon are right now!"
: "But I was determined to get along with them! So I did my best to tell my Pokémon how I felt!"
: "Once I started doing that, we started to understand each other better, and now we get along just fine!"
: "Even Pikachu and I had our differences when we first met. Isn't that right, buddy?"
: "So don't worry! I'm sure the two of you will be fine!"
: "'Cause Flareon's really important to you, right?"
: "Let's go find Flareon! I'm sure he's feeling lonely without you by now!"
: "Where did Flareon go?!"
: "Oh, do you have an idea where Flareon went?"
: "Tina..."
: "And who are you?!"
: "Team Break?"
: "Hey, you! What do you mean when you said Tina will never get Flareon back?"

*Use Thunderbolt!
: "Are you kidding me?!"
: "No, this can't be true!"
: "C'mon, <player>! Let's stop Flareon together!"
: "Pikachu, I choose you!"
: "Aw, man!"
: "I can't just go all out against a friend's Pokémon!"
: "Ugh!"
: "<player>!"
: "Tina! You can't give up!"
: "Flareon's your friend, right?!"
: "You've gotta tell him how you feel!"
: "Cut it out!"
: "Urgh..."
: "You heard her. Right, Flareon?"
: "You're Tina's partner. Nobody could replace you."
: "And you hate being apart from her, too, right?"
: "I'm not letting you get away with what you've done!"
: "Pikachu! Use Thunderbolt!"
: "Oh, you still wanna battle? We don't mind."
: "I guess Flareon thought you were gonna get taken away from him, Tina."
: "That's why losing to Pikachu made him so upset."
: "You were just jealous, right?"
: "See? I think he's feeling a little sorry about that."
: "Hey. Do you wanna have another battle?"
: "The best way to feel better when you're feeling down is to have a battle!"
: "I wanna see your teamwork now that you're not fighting anymore!"

*Lear's Goal?
: "Hey, I thought battles on Pasio were usually team battles!"
: "If so, why is this tournament for Single Battles?"
: "I guess Lear must've thought this through."
: "Of course!"
: "Let's show everyone on Pasio how we battle, Pikachu!"
: "Also..."
: "This is our chance to have a serious battle with <player> on a big stage!"
: "We're gonna make it to the top and battle you, <player>!"

: "What?"
: "Pikachu!"
: "You did great! We'll take care of the rest!"
: "It's your turn, Lucario!"
: "Pikachu and Dracovish are at their limits, so we have to finish it here!"
: "Let's show them our bond! Lucario, Mega Evolve!"
: "Give 'em a barrage of Aura Sphere!"
: "Dive in with Bullet Punch!"

Description Ash is a boy from Pallet Town who dreams of becoming a Pokémon Master. He's honest, with a strong sense of justice. He is always with his best partner, Pikachu.

Ash (Japanese: サトシ Satoshi) is a Pokémon Trainer in Pokémon Masters EX, based on the character of the same name in the animated series. He forms a sync pair with Pikachu, which is capable of wearing his Trainer's World Cap. The sync pair could be obtained through a limited-time Master Fair Sync Pair Scout and was first made available on August 28, 2022. This pair can be raised to Masters EX star.png 6★ EX since its release.

In the games

History

Ash has experienced all the events from Pokémon the Series up until he became a member of the Masters Eight. Ash's first Pokémon, Pikachu, was given to him by Professor Oak after he woke up late on the day he was set to get his first Pokémon. Although at first Pikachu didn't listen to Ash, after risking himself to protect his Pokémon, he earned Pikachu's trust, and the two have been inseparable ever since. On his first day of being a Trainer, Ash saw Ho-Oh in the sky, although at the time he didn't know the Pokémon's name. While still traveling in Kanto, Ash caught a Charmander, who happily obeyed him until he evolved into a Charmeleon and Charizard. After showing love and care towards his Charizard, despite Charizard's disobedience, Ash's Charizard regained full loyalty towards his trainer. While staying in Alola, Ash took care of Nebby until it became a Solgaleo. Ash also obtained Pikashunium Z, which allows Pikachu to use the Z-Move 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt. He later became the first Champion of Alola. While participating in the World Coronation Series, Ash caught a Dragonite, a Gengar who can Gigantamax, a Lucario who can Mega Evolve, a Sirfetch'd, and a Dracovish.

The Classic Thunderbolt

Ash's party in Pokémon Masters EX

Later, Ash guesses that Flareon was just jealous and thought that Tina was going to be taken away from him because he lost to Pikachu. Ash then invites Tina to battle again to cheer her up from the day's events, and the two proceed to battle.

Blazing Battle with Ash

The first round of the tournament begins, with Ash's first opponent being Rochelle from Lilycove City in Hoenn. Ash first sends out Sirfetch'd against Rochelle's Salamence. During the battle, Ash recalls Sirfetch'd due to Salamence attacking in the air and sends out Dragonite to counter. Dragonite manages to knock out Rochelle's Salamence. Rochelle then sends out her Glalie, who knocks out Dragonite. Ash sends Sirfetch'd back out to defeat Glalie, who is then defeated by Rochelle's Banette. Both are down to one Pokémon left, with Ash sending out Gengar as his last Pokémon. Both Pokémon seem to be evenly matched until Ash Gigantamaxes his Gengar, defeating Rochelle's Banette and winning him the battle.

Ash's next opponent is Axel from Hau'oli City in Alola. Ash has his Dracovish battle against Axel's Kommo-o, and Dracovish knocks it out. Axel then sends out his Salazzle, which poisons Dracovish, so Ash recalls it. Ash then sends out Pikachu to battle, with Pikachu's speed overwhelming Axel's Salazzle, leading it to be knocked out. Axel sends out his last Pokémon, Tsareena. Ash has Pikachu attack Tsareena with Thunderbolt, but is surprised when Axel reveals that his Tsareena is immune to Electric-type moves. Tsareena then knocks out Pikachu. Ash decides to send out his Lucario to finish things off, quickly Mega Evolving Lucario. After a few hits from each side, Axel's Tsareena is knocked out, so Ash wins the battle.

Finally, Ash reaches the last battle of the tournament, where he gets to fight the player. Ash first sends out Dracovish, while the player sends out Torchic. Ash has Dracovish use Water Gun. Torchic keeps dodging the attack, but it turns out that Ash wanted to wet the ground with Water Gun in order to freeze it with Ice Fang, causing Torchic to lose its footing. Ash then has Dracovish slide on the frozen ground and use Fishious Rend to knock out Torchic. The player then sends out Solgaleo as their next Pokémon, shocking Ash. Ash has Dracovish attack with Fishious Rend, but it is knocked out by Solgaleo. Ash then sends out Sirfetch'd to battle. With the use of Detect to dodge and Fury Cutter to attack, Sirfetch'd manages to knock out Solgaleo, while also knocking himself out in the process. Both Ash and the player send out their respective Pikachu as their final Pokémon. Both Pikachu are evenly matched, but Ash uses the sync move Best Buds 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt in order to defeat the player, thus making Ash the winner of the tournament.

The player, Tina, and Lear congratulate Ash on the win. Lear asks Ash if he has forgotten about their promise to battle each other, and Ash says he hasn't. Ash then teams up with Tina and the player for a team battle against Lear, Rachel, and Sawyer.
