Ash and Korrina train before going to Pomace Mountains. Pikachu uses Thunderbolt, but Lucario dodges. Lucario uses Bone Rush, but Pikachu evades. Pikachu retaliates with Iron Tail, but is countered by Power-Up Punch. Korrina cheers for Lucario, but remembers she should give orders, else Lucario may disobey her again. Bonnie tells them her brother made lunch, so Ash and Korrina stop training and go eating. Ash praises Clemont for making tasty food, as well as Bonnie, who helped him. Serena gives some Poké Puffs to Lucario, who likes them. Ash asks Korrina did she have Lucario for a long time. Korrina confirms, as she trained with it since it was a Riolu. She battled her grandpa's Lucario many times in many places. During this training, she met many trainers, including one that had a Mega Ampharos. Team Rocket overhears this and Meowth believes there is a Meowthite somewhere for him. Team Rocket plans on taking Lucario and create a Mega Evolution army.
On the road to Pomace Mountain, Ash and Korrina are having a battle. Pikachu uses Thunderbolt, which Korrina dodges. Lucario then retaliates with Bone Rush, which Pikachu dodges. Pikachu then attacks with Iron Tail, which Lucario counters with Power-Up Punch. Korrina exclaims at Lucario's choice of moves, only to quickly realize that she had not commanded Lucario to attack. The battle soon ends with Bonnie announcing that lunch is ready.

The heroes go through a tunnel to reach Pomace Mountains. They soon find more tunnels. Korrina does not want to wait much and takes a path. Team Rocket saw them and James reads the tunnels are inhabited by Noibat. Jessie has a plan, so James sends Inkay, who uses Psybeam on one. Noibat dodges and emits sound waves, causing more Noibat to be upset and attack Team Rocket. They also attack the heroes, who run off. Bonnie, Serena, Ash and Lucario come out, but see Clemont, Korrina and Pikachu are absent, who came the other way out. Ash, Serena, Bonnie and Lucario go back to search for the others, but they think they came out. Clemont, Korrina and Pikachu try to find others. Neither side managed to find others and since it is getting dark, they decide to search tomorrow. Team Rocket isn't pleased either, since they didn't catch Lucario, but managed to split the twerps.
During lunch, Serena passes around some Poké Puffs for Lucario as well as for Clemont and Pikachu. Ash then asks Korrina about what training Korrina and Lucario had done since their childhood. Korrina replies that she had battled her grandfather and his Lucario on several occasions, and also reflects on having battled a Trainer with a Mega Ampharos. Meanwhile, TRT is eavesdropping on the group, listening in about Mega Ampharos. The trio then plot to steal Korrina's Lucario, her Lucarionite and Key Stone.

At night, Ash, Serena and Bonnie have dinner. Lucario does not eat, so they suspect it is too worried to be hungry. Bonnie tells it Korrina is with his brother, and even if he is sometimes clumsy, he can do well in tough situations, making Lucario less worried. Clemont gives Korrina some food and asks of Pikachu to eat up, since they will search for others tomorrow. Later, Clemont wakes up and sees Korrina cannot sleep. Korrina is worried about Lucario, since she was never without it. Clemont sees she is like Ash and Pikachu. Lucario cannot sleep either, even if Bonnie assures him Korrina is with Clemont. Korrina thinks about Gurkinn's words and Clemont suspects Mega Lucario couldn't hear her words. Korrina realizes her grandpa was right, she couldn't understand Lucario's feelings back then. Lucario trains, but stops remembering its fury when fighting Pikachu.
Ash and his friends have now arrived at a cave which Serena states is a shortcut to Pomace Mountain. But they soon arrive at a fork in the road, and Korrina decides to lead, choosing a path with her instinct. Team Rocket, following close behind, decide to scare the group by disturbing the Noibat in the cave. James commands Inkay to attack a Noibat, causing the whole group of Noibat to become scared and fly off towards Ash and the group.

Next day, Ash sends Fletchling to search for others. Korrina, Clemont and Pikachu prepare themselves, but are attacked by Team Rocket, who plan on capturing Pikachu and the Key Stone. Clemont sends Bunnelby, while James sends Inkay (with headgear) and Jessie Pumpkaboo (with a device connected to the bottom). Meowth (with mechanical claws) and Wobbuffet (with a machine behind his back) also join the fight, for they powered them up with machines. Inkay uses Psybeam and hits Bunnelby, along with Pumpkaboo's Dark Pulse. Using Tackle, Inkay defeats Bunnelby. Clemont calls Bunnelby back and sends Chespin. Chespin goes to tackle, but Inkay dodges and Meowth uses Fury Swipes on Chespin, as well as Pumpkaboo's Shadow Ball. Korrina counts on Pikachu, who uses Thunderbolt. Wobbuffet uses Mirror Coat, reflecting back the attack. Chespin uses Pin Missile, but Wobbuffet counters the attack back. Pikachu uses Quick Attack, but misses Inkay. Pikachu uses Iron Tail, but Pumpkaboo dodges, who hits him back with Shadow Ball.
The group then run away from the Noibat colony, only to realize that their group has become split, with Ash, Bonnie, Serena and Lucario in one group, and Clemont, Pikachu, and Korrina at another end of the cave. Both groups decide to camp the night separately before the sun sets. During the night, Korrina, unable to sleep, again reflects on her childhood with Lucario. She contemplates with Clemont, about her inability to control Mega Evolution, and the advice her grandfather had provided.

Fletchling found the others fighting Team Rocket. Lucario senses trouble through his Key Stone and Fletchling confirms the location. Pumpkaboo uses Dark Pulse, hitting Chespin and Pikachu. Meowth uses Fury Swipes and goes to hit Korrina, but Lucario arrives and counters the attack with Bone Rush. Ash, Serena and Bonnie arrive as well. Pikachu uses Electro Ball, but is countered back by Wobbuffet. Lucario asks Korrina for Mega Evolution. The heroes know what Lucario will get, but see they have no other choice. Korrina touches the Key Stone and Mega Evolves Lucario. Mega Lucario uses Bone Rush and hits Inkay and Pumpkaboo. Mega Lucario becomes furious and starts attacking the heroes, making Team Rocket think this is fun. Mega Lucario goes to hit Korrina, but seeing her Key Stone, it remembers the events of past days and stops the attack. Inside Mega Lucario's mind, Lucario goes towards the light and comes to its senses, hearing Korrina properly.
The next morning, the two groups attempt to find each other. However, at Clemont's group, Team Rocket intervenes, trying to capture Pikachu in a net which Pikachu narrowly avoids. Clemont takes out Clemont, only to face a powered-up James, Jessie, MTR, and Wobbuffet, armored with their "Team Rocket's mechas". Bunnelby faints after being hit by Inkay's Psybeam and Tackle, and Pumpkaboo's Dark Pulse.

Clemont then takes out Clemont, only for Chespin to also get badly hurt by Team Rocket's powered up Pokémon. Pikachu joins the fight with Thunderbolt, only to be countered by Wobbuffet. Korrina then commands Pikachu to use Quick Attack and Iron Tail, which are dodged by Inkay and Pumpkaboo respectively. Korrina then commands "now Pikachu" without stating a move. Pikachu, confused, gets hit by Pumpkaboo's Shadow Ball. Meanwhile, Fletchling has found Clemont's group, and leads Ash, Serena, Bonnie and Lucario to the others.

Back with Korrina, Meowth comes in to attack Korrina to steal her Key Stone. However, at the last minute, Lucario comes in to block Meowth's attack. The battle then continues between the group and Team Rocket. But as Ash and his group are losing, Lucario prompts Korrina to allow it to Mega Evolve. Despite some misgivings, Korrina decides to Mega Evolve Lucario.

After Mega Evolution, Lucario attacks with Bone Rush, successfully hitting Pumpkaboo. However, Lucario subsequently loses control and begins to start attacking Ash and the group. Korrina tells Lucario to stop, but Lucario charges forth towards Korrina, stopping just before attacking Korrina because of her voice. Korrina continues to shout Lucario's name, and Lucario begins to regain control of itself. Lucario then attacks Team Rocket with Bone Rush, causing them blast off. However, Lucario then loses control momentarily before fainting from exhaustion. At this, Clemont comments that they still have some way to go, though Ash believes that they will be able to figure it out.

Hearing Korrina's voice, Mega Lucario uses Bone Rush and hits Inkay and Pumpkaboo, causing Team Rocket to blast off. Korrina is pleased Mega Lucario heard her voice. Mega Lucario becomes furious again, but is too tired and falls unconscious. The heroes saw Lucario does not obey Korrina fully, since it is up to them to resolve this problem. Korrina is worried about Lucario and places her hand on its paw.

On their way to Pomace Mountain for Korrina's special training, our heroes enter a winding cave where they encounter a swarm of agitated Noibat, stirred up by the Team Rocket trio! In the confusion, the friends get separated: Ash, Serena, Bonnie, and Lucario end up at one entrance to the cave, while Clemont, Korrina, and Pikachu are at the other. The villains take advantage of the opportunity to strike against Clemont's group, and thanks to the "Mecha Evolution" devices attached to the Team Rocket Pokémon, they quickly get the upper hand.

When the two groups are reunited, even Lucario can't overcome Team Rocket's technology. As a last resort, it Mega Evolves again—and promptly loses control as the power of its aura drowns out Korrina's voice. But Korrina is persistent, and Mega Lucario comes to its senses just long enough to send Team Rocket blasting off again before it collapses, exhausted.

It appears their journey is just beginning...

Plot

On the road to Pomace Mountain, Ash and Korrina are having a battle. Pikachu uses Thunderbolt, which Lucario dodges.

During lunch, Serena passes around some Poké Puffs for Lucario as well as for Dedenne and Pikachu. Ash then asks Korrina about what training Korrina and Lucario had done since their childhood. Korrina replies that she had battled her grandfather and his Lucario on several occasions, and also reflects on having battled a Trainer with a Mega Ampharos. Meanwhile, Team Rocket is eavesdropping on the group, listening in about Mega Ampharos. The trio then plot to steal Korrina's Lucario, her Lucarionite and Key Stone.

The next morning, the two groups attempt to find each other. However, at Clemont's group, Team Rocket intervenes, trying to capture Pikachu in a net which Pikachu narrowly avoids. Clemont takes out Bunnelby, only to face a powered-up Inkay, Pumpkaboo, Meowth, and Wobbuffet, armored with their "Mecha Evolution Power-Packed Amplify-O-Rama Mark 2". Bunnelby faints after being hit by Inkay's Psybeam and Tackle, and Pumpkaboo's Dark Pulse.

Clemont then takes out Chespin, only for Chespin to also get badly hurt by Team Rocket's powered up Pokémon.
