Pidgeotto (Japanese: ピジョン Pigeon, German: Tauboga, French: Roucoups) is a Normal/Flying-type Pokémon.
Pokédex entries
- Pokémon Emerald
- This Pokémon flies around, patrolling its large territory. If its living space is violated, it shows no mercy in thoroughly punishing the foe with its sharp claws.
- Pokémon FireRed
- The claws on its feet are well developed. It can carry prey such as an Exeggcute to its nest over 60 miles away.
- Pokémon LeafGreen
- Very protective of its sprawling territorial area, this Pokémon will fiercely peck at any intruder.
Name origin
Its name is a corruption of pigeon, a common bird. Its Japanese name clearly refers to said species of bird.
Its design appears to be less of a pigeon and more of an osprey or other bird of prey.

In the anime
In the anime, Pidgeotto played a role as one of Ash Ketchum's Pokémon. It participated in the Gym battles against Brock and Misty, was frequently used for breaking Team Rocket's Meowth-shaped balloon, and was the only one of Ash's Pokémon at the time, save some of his numerous Tauros, not to participate in the Pokémon League in Kanto. It eventually evolved into Pidgeot and left Ash's party.
