The Pokémon Orienteering (Japanese: ポケモンオリエンテーリング Pokémon Orienteering) is an animated series-exclusive orienteering competition held in Potpourri Island, Kanto. It was featured in Off the Unbeaten Path. Another, nearly identical competition appeared in Foggy Pokémon Orienteering! as part of Professor Sycamore's Pokémon Summer Camp. An event with a similar name was also hosted by the Cerise Laboratory in Dreams Are Made of These!.

![](https://staging.archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/thumb/8/88/Potpourri_Island_map.png/220px-Potpourri_Island_map.png)
At the beginning of the Pokémon Orienteering competition, all of the contestants receive a map of Potpourri Island and a compass. Together with a partner Pokémon, Trainers must navigate their way around the island and attempt to find five checkpoints, which are located in places that are difficult to reach. At each checkpoint, their map must be stamped with a Pokémon symbol.
The object of the competition is to get Trainers and their Pokémon to work together. The first team to get all of the stamps on their map and get back to the Pokémon Center is declared the winner. The winners are presented with a golden medal called the Pokémon Teamwork Medal. They also receive a sample of Potpourri Island's famous fruit.
During the competition, Jessie and Meowth—who was disguised as a Sneasel—had trouble finding the checkpoints and gave up, letting James and his Mime Jr. collect all of the stamps so they would benefit from the sample of fruits as well. They decided to slow down the other contestants by setting pitfall traps. In the end, Nurse Joy announced James and his Mime Jr. as the big winners. James happily accepted the medal, but gave away the fruit to the rest of the contestants, excluding Jessie and Meowth.
