Route 9 (Japanese: 9番道路 Route 9) is a route in the north-central Unova, connecting the Tubeline Bridge and Opelucid City. In Black and White, Route 9 also holds the entrance to Challenger's Cave, which is only accessible after completing the main game.

Route description

Route 9 is a short, forested route, dominated by a paved road that connects Tubeline Bridge and Opelucid City. There are six Trainers, all of which are Bikers and Roughnecks. Two of the Bikers are constantly driving along the paved road, while the others remain stationary. To the north of the route is Shopping Mall Nine, with two vending machines to the right of the entrance. At the bottom of the route are several tall grass patches and dark grass patches, separated by trees in a winding fashion.

In Black and White, after going down flights of stairs at the end of the forested path, the entrance to Challenger's Cave awaits. Initially, a Black Belt will be blocking the entrance, but upon completing the game, Challenger's Cave may be entered.

In Black 2 and White 2, after the Plasma Frigate freezes Opelucid City, part of this route will be frozen, making the player have to slide on ice in order to enter Shopping Mall Nine until the player completes the main game. The entrance to Challenger's Cave has been blocked off. A Hidden Grotto is located to the left of Shopping Mall Nine.
