Vigoroth (Japanese: ヤルキモノ Yarukimono) is a Normal-type Pokémon.

Biology
It evolves from Slakoth starting at level 18 and evolves into Slaking starting at level 36.

Gender differences
None.

Special abilities
Biology
Behavior
Vigoroth is a white, sloth-like, bipedal Pokémon with a teardrop-shaped tuft of red fur on its forehead. It has stubby ears, two small, triangular teeth in each jaw, a brown lower jaw, and large eyes encircled by brown rings. There are two stripes on its back, which are also brown. Its arms are long, and its hands and feet have two sharp black claws. The undersides of its hands and feet have circular red pads, and its rear also has a baboon-like patch of red. The fur on its chest, tail, and sides of its maw are shaggy.
Habitat
Diet
Main article: Pokémon food

In the anime
Vigoroth's heart beats ten times faster than it did as a Slakoth, and as such, it cannot sit still for even a minute. Attempting to stand still or sleep raises its stress level and agitates its blood. It likes to go berserk by spinning its arms to destroy anything in its path. It runs wild through the List of Pokémon by habitat Due to its rampages, it is always hungry. As mentioned in the Sleep Style Dex, despite Vigoroth appearing to be fast alseep at first glance, it is unable to sleep deeply.
Norman's Vigoroth made appeared several times in the anime, the first being in There's no Place Like Hoenn.

In the manga
Evolution
In the TCG
Vigoroth evolves from Slakoth and evolves into Slaking.

Trivia
Origin
Vigoroth seems to be based on sloths, exhibiting traits most similar to two-toed sloths and ground sloths in particular. It also exhibits some similarities to Old World monkeys, particularly to baboons who have bright red rumps, short tails, and are known for violent outbursts just like Vigoroth.

Vigoroth's evolutionary line goes through three stages of energy, where Slakoth is lazy, Vigoroth becomes extraordinarily energetic, and later Slaking becomes lazy again. This may be a reference to the Sphinx#Riddle of the Sphinx, in which the baby crawls on four legs, the adult has the most energy and walks on two legs, and the old man walks on three legs, one of which is a cane. In the case of Slaking, two legs and an arm touch the ground in its most preferable position.

Trivia
Name origin
Origin
Vigoroth may be a combination of vigor or vigorous and sloth.
Its based on sloths, possibly the giant ground sloth in particular.

Name origin
Yarukimono may be a combination of やる気 yaruki (motivation) and 樹懶 namakemono (sloth).
Vigoroth's name is a combination of vigor and sloth. Its Japanese name is likely a combination of やる気 yaruki, willingness, and 樹懶 namakemono, sloth.

Vigoroth (Japanese: ヤルキモノ Yarukimono) is a Normal-type Pokémon introduced in Generation III.

It evolves from Slakoth starting at level 18 and evolves into Slaking starting at level 36.

Biology

Vigoroth is a white, sloth-like, bipedal Pokémon with a teardrop-shaped tuft of red fur on its forehead. It has stubby ears, two small, triangular teeth in each jaw, a brown lower jaw, and large eyes encircled by brown rings. There are two stripes on its back, which are also brown. Its arms are long, and its hands and feet have two sharp black claws. The undersides of its hands and feet have circular red pads, and its rear also has a baboon-like patch of red. The fur on its chest, tail, and sides of its maw are shaggy.

Vigoroth's heart beats ten times faster than it did as a Slakoth, and as such, it cannot sit still for even a minute. Attempting to stand still or sleep raises its stress level and agitates its blood. It likes to go berserk by spinning its arms to destroy anything in its path. It runs wild through the jungle. Due to its rampages, it is always hungry. As mentioned in the Sleep Style Dex, despite Vigoroth appearing to be fast alseep at first glance, it is unable to sleep deeply.[1]

Major appearances

Vigoroth debuted in There's no Place Like Hoenn, under the ownership of Norman. In Love, Petalburg Style and Balance of Power, it was used in a Gym battle against Ash. It defeated Torkoal due to its speed, but the match against Pikachu ended in a draw because it was paralyzed by Pikachu's Static Ability.

In The Garden of Eatin', a Snorlax was causing trouble for Marcel by eating the bananas in his Banana Slakoth Garden. No one was able to stop it until one of the Slakoth in the garden evolved into a Vigoroth and defeated Snorlax, allowing Marcel to catch it.

Trivia

This may be a reference to the Sphinx's riddle, in which the baby crawls on four legs, the adult has the most energy and walks on two legs, and the old man walks on three legs, one of which is a cane. In the case of Slaking, two legs and an arm touch the ground in its most preferable position.

Name origin

Vigoroth may be a combination of vigor or vigorous and sloth.

Yarukimono may be a combination of やる気 yaruki (motivation) and 樹懶 namakemono (sloth).
