Monferno (Japanese: モウカザル Moukazaru) is a Fire/Fighting-type Pokémon.
|friendship=70
}}
Monferno (Japanese: モウカザル Moukazaru) is a dual-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IV.

It evolves from Chimchar starting at level 14 and evolves into Infernape starting at level 36.

Monferno comes with the ability Blaze, which increases the power of Fire-type attacks by 50% once the Pokémon has less than one-third of its maximum HP.
Biology
Monferno is a bipedal, primate-like Pokémon. Orange fur covers most of its body, except for its ears, muzzle, fingers, circular areas on its palms, feet, and chest, which are tan. A small tuft of fur extends from the top of Monferno's head, and it has oval, brown eyes. Its eyes have a thick blue marking above and a small, red marking in-between. Its muzzle is short and blunt, with two small, pointed teeth in its upper jaw. There is a white ruff of fur around its neck and gold bands around its arms near its shoulders. It has five fingers on each hand, but only three toes on each foot. Its long tail has a red ring around the base and a flame burning at the tip.

Monferno evolves from Chimchar at Level 14 and evolves into Infernape at Level 36.
The flame on Monferno's tail has several purposes. Primarily, it can be controlled to keep opponents at an ideal distance or stretched in order to make Monferno appear larger. The size of its flame, in combination with the brightness of its facial marking, indicates this Pokémon's position in its pack. The bigger the flame and the brighter the pattern, the higher the Pokémon's position. In addition to using its flaming tail as a weapon, Monferno can also leap from ceilings or walls to perform aerial attacks.

Evolution
Physiology
Monferno evolves from Chimchar and evolves into Infernape.
Much of Monferno's hair is a bright orange color. Monferno now has an evident tail, unlike its previous form Chimchar. Its tail is similar to those of Charmander, Charmeleon and Charizard due to the flames at the tips. This flame is often used as a weapon. When threatened, Monferno increases the size of its flame in order to appear larger than it really is, which is useful in scaring off attacking foes. It has white hair around its neck and gold arm bands. Monferno has blue-and-red markings on its face.

Monferno (Japanese: モウカザル Moukazaru) is a dual-type Fire/Fighting Pokémon introduced in Generation IV.

It evolves from Chimchar starting at level 14 and evolves into Infernape starting at level 36.

Evolution

Monferno evolves from Chimchar and evolves into Infernape.

Trivia

 • Monferno shares its category with Pancham. They are both known as the Playful Pokémon.
 • Monferno and its evolutionary relatives were designed by Takao Unno.[1]

Origin

Monferno may be based on a golden snub-nosed monkey or a mandrill, a primate similar to a baboon. It also appears to be a direct impression of the Monkey Kung Fu, a type of martial arts, which could explain its Fighting type.

Name origin

Monferno may be a combination of monkey and inferno.

Moukazaru may be a combination of 猛火 mōka (roaring flames) and 猿 saru (monkey).
