The [[Pokémon anime]] is broadcasted on '''[[Disney XD]]''', previously known as ''Fox Kids'' and then ''Jetix'', and TV2 in Denmark, a publicly owned television station in Denmark based in Odense, which the station began broadcasting on 1 October 1988, thereby ending the television monopoly previously exercised by the Danmarks Radio (DR). The season ''[[Pokémon: Battle Frontier]]'' was not sent after the ''[[Pokémon: Advanced Battle]]'' season, but was just skipped and went directly to ''[[Pokémon: Diamond and Pearl]]''. After they had sent in ''Pokémon: Diamond and Pearl'', they sent ''Battle Frontier''.
The [[Pokémon animated series]] is currently available on [[Netflix]] and some seasons and episode available on-demand on [[Pokémon TV]]. It first aired on January 23, 2000 on {{wp|TV 2 (Denmark)|TV 2}}. The [[Who's That Pokémon?]] segments and the [[Pokérap]] were omitted in some airings of the first two seasons because of commercial issues, but they still appeared on the VHS releases.  


The entire Johto saga has never aired on Danish TV. TV2 did not air any Pokémon episodes between Season 3 and Season 5. This is known in Denmark as '''{{tt|Pokémon Pausen|The Pokémon Pause}}'''. However, the last 16 episodes of Season 5 were released on DVD's with three episodes in each.
[[EP105]] was the last episode to air before the animated series underwent a three-season break on Danish television. It would not return until [[EP263]] aired in late 2003, leaving no explanation as to why the episodes in-between where never aired. Therefore, only the last 12 episodes of the Johto saga aired on Danish television. Much of the cast had been replaced, meaning that some recurring characters had gotten new voices, such as {{an|Misty}}, {{an|Professor Oak}}, and {{Gary}}.


In Denmark, the [[Who's That Pokémon?]] segment was deleted in Season 1 and 2, because of a hidden commercial. This meant that one had to buy the games to know the names of the Pokémon. Who's That Pokémon? did appear in the VHS tapes that were released in Denmark.

Disney XD, which also aired the entire Diamond and Pearl saga, has revealed that the official premiere of Season 14 will be March 10th.

The first three movies were released in theaters and later on home video, with their respective [[Pikachu short]]s. Later on, the [[M04|fourth]] was released on DVD and VHS, however, unlike with the previous movies, the Pikachu short was not dubbed in Danish. Movies [[M05|five]], [[M06|six]], and [[M07|seven]] would later be released on DVD simultaneously, but did not include their Pikachu shorts. Movies [[M08|eight]] and [[M09|nine]] were skipped without being either released nor dubbed in Danish and several years would pass before new movies made it to Denmark.

The [[M10|tenth]] and [[M11|eleventh]] movies premiered on Jetix Scandinavia. These were later made available on home video for a contest with 10 copies of each being given away, limiting their homevideo availability at the time. Movie [[M12|twelve]] premiered on Disney XD the following year. The [[M13|thirteenth]] movie was released on DVD followed by movie ten through twelve later that year. The [[M14|fourteenth]] movie pair premiered on Disney XD August 18 (Black) and August 19 (White), 2012.

Then on February 14th, 2009 ''[[M10|The Rise of Darkrai]]'' had its television premiere on Jetix Scandinavia. Then on May 9th, 2009, Jetix Scandinavia had their premiere of ''[[M11|Giratina and the Sky Warrior]]''. These two movies were released on Danish DVD, but not for sale; instead they were made for a contest, and there were about 10 copies of both movies made. It is yet unknown about if they are going to be released commercially on Danish DVDs. ''[[M12|Arceus and the Jewel of Life]]'' had a television premiere on Disney XD on June 26th, 2010. ''[[M08|Lucario and the Mystery of Mew]]'' and ''[[M09|Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea]]'' have never been dubbed in Danish.

Since the games haven't been localized in Danish, the only official source of how to properly conjugate words from the Pokémon universe is the animated series. In the early days, it was inconsistent whether or not the singular definite of Pokémon was to be conjugated as Pokémoner or Pokémon, although later on, Pokémon became the standard. This goes for the names of the different Pokémon as well. The grammatical genders of both the word Pokémon and all the Pokémon are by default common.

The Pokémon animated series first reached Denmark in January 2000, with the first broadcast of Pokémon - Jeg vælger dig! In Denmark, Bergsala A/S owns the franchise.

Pokémon video games

Pokémon games sold in Denmark do not have a Danish translation, and are released at the same time as in the rest of Europe. The only game released in Danish was the Pokémon Trading Card Game Online, but only the interface had been translated and the cards themselves remained in English.

Events

Event Pokémon that were distributed in Denmark included Movie 11 Shaymin in 2009 and Michina Arceus in 2010.

Pokémon animation

The Pokémon animated series is currently available on Netflix and some seasons and episode available on-demand on Pokémon TV. It first aired on January 23, 2000 on TV 2. The Who's That Pokémon? segments and the Pokérap were omitted in some airings of the first two seasons because of commercial issues, but they still appeared on the VHS releases.

EP105 was the last episode to air before the animated series underwent a three-season break on Danish television. It would not return until EP263 aired in late 2003, leaving no explanation as to why the episodes in-between where never aired. Therefore, only the last 12 episodes of the Johto saga aired on Danish television. Much of the cast had been replaced, meaning that some recurring characters had gotten new voices, such as Misty, Professor Oak, and Gary.

Pokémon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire began airing on April 11, 2004. However, it moved from Pokémon: Advanced Battle to Pokémon: Diamond and Pearl, with Pokémon: Battle Frontier not airing until after Pokémon: Diamond and Pearl. Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl aired on June 7, 2008; Pokémon the Series: Black & White aired on March 10, 2012; Pokémon the Series: XY aired on October 26, 2014; and Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon aired on August 26, 2017.

Movies

The first three movies were released in theaters and later on home video, with their respective Pikachu shorts. Later on, the fourth was released on DVD and VHS, however, unlike with the previous movies, the Pikachu short was not dubbed in Danish. Movies five, six, and seven would later be released on DVD simultaneously, but did not include their Pikachu shorts. Movies eight and nine were skipped without being either released nor dubbed in Danish and several years would pass before new movies made it to Denmark.

The tenth and eleventh movies premiered on Jetix Scandinavia. These were later made available on home video for a contest with 10 copies of each being given away, limiting their homevideo availability at the time. Movie twelve premiered on Disney XD the following year. The thirteenth movie was released on DVD followed by movie ten through twelve later that year. The fourteenth movie pair premiered on Disney XD August 18 (Black) and August 19 (White), 2012.

The Danish version was originally dubbed by Dubberman AS, but as TV 2 stopped airing Pokémon, the series was, like most other international dubs, dubbed by SDI Media. It is known that Pokémon Heroes: Latios & Latias was translated by Dorte Langberg, and that Jirachi: Wish Maker and Destiny Deoxys were translated by Thomas Maintz. Subtitles of voice actors and translators on Disney XD also reveal that Mathias Klenske translates Black & White himself.
