Virbank City first appeared in the anime when Ash and ashfr arrive in the city in An Epic Defense Force!. The town has had a movie studio since long ago and recently an amusement park was completed. The group meets Luke who is visiting to participate in a movie contest and they help in the making of his film. In Rocking the Virbank Gym! (Part 1) and Rocking the Virbank Gym! (Part 2), Ash arrived at Virbank Gym, in order to battle Gym Leader Roxie for his eigth gym badge in Unova. In BW085 Ash and his friends, having found out that the Unova League begins in three months, decided to go eat Virbank City's famous "Beartic Ice Cream" at Cilan's suggestion. When they do, they meet the Sinnoh Region Champion, Cynthia.
Virbank City debuted in An Epic Defense Force!, when Ash and ashfr arrived at the city port. Like in the games, the city has an existing movie studio and a recently built amusement park. The group met Luke again as he was visiting the city to participate in the Pokéstar Studios Film Competition. After being persuaded by Cilan, the group decided to help Luke in the making of his film, which won Best Picture.

In Rocking the Virbank Gym! Part 1 and Part 2, Ash and his friends went to the Virbank Gym. There, he battled Roxie for his eighth Unova League Gym Badge, and ultimately won it. Roxie also fronts Unova's top punk rock band "Koffing and the Toxics", so fans flock to the Virbank Gym to watch them perform during Roxie's Gym matches.

In All for the Love of Meloetta!, Ash and his friends, having learned that the Vertress Conference would begin in three months, decided to go eat Virbank City's famous "Bearticone" at Cilan's suggestion. Arriving at the ice cream stand, they met up with the Sinnoh League Champion, Cynthia. Cynthia then invited them to go to East Unova with her for the upcoming Pokémon World Tournament Junior Cup.

In The Pokémon Harbor Patrol!, Ash and his friends, accompanied by N, passed through Virbank City on their way to the White Ruins. Visiting the Virbank Complex, they met Halsey and his Pokémon Harbor Patrol, who dedicate themselves to protecting people and Pokémon in the area.

Virbank City in the anime

Virbank City debuted in An Epic Defense Force!, when Ash and his friends arrived at the city port.

Trivia

 • Due to a glitch, it is possible to Surf on the southeasternmost tile of the westmost boat by interacting with it from land, despite this tile being inaccessible from the adjacent water tile. This tile cannot produce wild Pokémon encounters, even through Sweet Scent or Honey.
 • In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Virbank City is mentioned to be Crispin's hometown.
