Aerial Ace (Japanese: つばめがえし Sasaki Kojirō#Swallow cut) is a damage-dealing Flying move introduced in Generation III. It was TM40 from Generation III to Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon as well as in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. It is TM027 in Generation IX.

Effect
Effect
Generation III to IV
Aerial Ace inflicts damage and bypasses accuracy checks to always hit, unless the target is in the semi-invulnerable turn of a move such as Dig or Fly. Aerial Ace can hit non-adjacent opponents in Triple Battles. If used by a Pokémon with Sharpness, its power is increased by 50%.
Aerial Ace inflicts damage and is unaffected by modifications to the accuracy stat and evasion stat. It will not hit a Pokémon during the semi-invulnerable turn of moves such as Dig, Fly and Dive.

Generation V
Generation VIII
Aerial Ace can hit non-adjacent opponents in Triple Battles.

UNITE
In Pokémon UNITE, Aerial Ace is Talonflame's first move. It is obtained by evolving into Fletchinder at level 5 and upgrading Peck into it instead of Flame Charge. The user dashes through a targeted enemy, damaging it. The user's next basic attack is boosted. At level 11, the move's damage is increased.

Trivia
Trivia
* The Japanese name of this move, つばめがえし Swallow Return (more commonly known in English as the "Turning Swallow Cut"), is probably taken from the signature technique of the legendary swordsman Sasaki Kojirō (the namesake of TRT's James). It is widely believed that it consisted of first a rapid downward slash from above, immediately followed by an upward slash on the same line (this same motion is used for the move's animation in Generations IV and V). Its name came from Kojirō's observations of the motion of a swallow's tail in flight.
* This move is based on and named after Sasaki Kojirō's "Sasaki Kojirō#Swallow cut" sword technique, so named due to its resemblance to the motion of a swallow's tail in flight, and is usually construed as a quick upward slash followed by a second one down the same direction, same as the move's animation.
* Heracross is the only non-Flying Pokémon able to learn Aerial Ace by level-up.
* Although Kabuto can learn Aerial Ace in Generation III through TM, it is no longer capable of learning this move in later generations with the same TM.
* For unknown reasons, Fearow couldn't learn Aerial Ace naturally, while its Spearow could in Generation III.
* Dugtrio and its pre-evolution can learn Aerial Ace, despite never appearing to leave the ground.

Aerial Ace (Japanese: つばめがえし Swallow Return) is a damage-dealing Flying-type move introduced in Generation III. It was TM40 from Generation III to Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon as well as in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. It is TM027 in Generation IX.

Effect

Aerial Ace inflicts damage and bypasses accuracy checks to always hit, unless the target is in the semi-invulnerable turn of a move such as Dig or Fly. Aerial Ace can hit non-adjacent opponents in Triple Battles. If used by a Pokémon with Sharpness, its power is increased by 50%.

Trivia

 • This move is based on and named after Sasaki Kojirō's "Turning Swallow Cut" sword technique, so named due to its resemblance to the motion of a swallow's tail in flight, and is usually construed as a quick upward slash followed by a second one down the same direction, same as the move's animation.
