Would the fact that, when one looks closely at the Pokédex artwork for Pokémon X and Y versions (especially when viewing from the side of the computer screen), one can make out, not only that Fennekin's Pokédex entry is being displayed, but that the Pokédex displays a blank space, then a menu sprite of Zigzagoon, then a blank space, then a menu sprite of Fletchling, implying that the Kalos regional Pokédex has Zigzagoon, Linoone, and then Fletchling listed together in that order be worth mentioning?

I researched and created 99% of the current spin-off games section at Pokédex, but I think the page is getting pretty large. The spin-off games page has additional content, mostly from Pokémon Stadium, that is not currently at Pokédex. --Daniel Carrero (talk) 04:58, 18 October 2019 (UTC)

I had created a separate page named Pokédex (spin-off games) but User:Force Fire moved it to my userspace and reverted Pokédex to my previous revision. I wrote almost all the current section named "In the spin-off games", which now accounts for 27%+ of the size of Pokédex. But on the other hand, if for some reason the page shouldn't be split (for the sake of argument), keeping it this way works too. == Split ==
A lot or articles really just want to link to the content of Pokédex entries, but are stuck going to the top of this chonker of an article. (Most notably, every TCG Origin section ever). I think we can say the concept of a Pokédex entry is significant enough to warrant its own page It could mention text limits, common topics, the cards that give this mechanical relevance, the format based on the entries (151 Questions, but it's called a format), and the role in stories. The contents of Pokédex entry recycling would also instead be part of this article. Salmancer (talk) 03:48, 24 March 2024 (UTC)
:I've been also thinking that having a separate article for Pokédex entries could be a good idea. So as you said in the split template, looks like the idea would basically be splitting the current "Pokédex" into two articles: "Pokédex" and "Pokédex entry".
:I suppose the "Pokédex" article would most likely still retain most of the information currently available:
:* the list of Pokédex devices (the appearance of each model)
:* the ways to obtain the Pokédex at the start of the games
:* the list of characters who have Pokédexes in the games/manga/anime
:* the list of Pokédex cards in the TCG
:* the Pokédex evaluation (the people who comment about how many Pokémon you have)
:* the Pokédex completion (the Diploma and other rewards given for completing it)
:* the list of voice actors
:* the list of names for "Pokédex" in other languages
:* the anime and manga sections with the recaps about what happens to Pokédexes over the course of the story (for instance, saying if a Pokédex is stolen or breaks in the story)
:And the "Pokédex entry" can have this:
:* the kinds of information available about each Pokémon, including the entry text as well as the forms, weight, height, category, cry, map, etc. (as we know, they change depending on the generation)
:* the gallery with images of Pokédex entries
:* the text entry limits as you said
:* the fact that Professor Westwood V wrote the Pokédex entries in the anime
:* the fact that Pokémon cards have Pokédex entries
:* the list of official names for "Pokédex entry" in other languages (not currently found in the article)
:* the common themes of Pokédex entries, you said? (that part sounds interesting but probably subjective so I wonder how would that work)
:* the articles "Pokédex entry recycling" and "Foreign Pokédex entry" are related concepts that we may or may not want to merge into the "Pokédex entry" article
:I think it's not entirely clear if the Pokédex main page (the screen listing all the names of Pokémon) and the Pokédex search function would be completely explained in the "Pokédex entry" page. I think that these functions are important concerning Pokédex entries (they are ways to navigate the entries) but they are not entries. --Daniel Carrero (talk) 05:20, 24 March 2024 (UTC)

It seems that the TCG has given these things model numbers since the start... what ought we do about that, as far as mentioning it? TTEchidna19:09, 17 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
The issue is that the GSC Pokédex wasn't given a model number, and the RSE Pokédex wasn't even featured. Perhaps mention the model numbers straight after naming the Pokédex number, as such:
The first version of the Pokédex (model number HANDY505)...
The second Pokédex (model number HANDY808...
The fourth Pokédex (model number HANDY909)...
The fifth Pokédex (model number HANDY910is)... (Unsure about what to do with the sixth Pokédex, as it's still the same model, just new software, it seems)
Well, if model numbers are mentioned in the TCG, surely they must have been mentioned in either the games or the anime. I don't recall the TCG ever having been a primary source for something like that. Cipher(Talk)19:43, 17 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Pokédex model numbers are never mentioned in any English game pre‐Ruby and Sapphire; can’t comment for anything from GBA onward, but i think that’s highly unlikely as well. I suspect this is just a case of TCG canon—it is pretty cool though. IIMarckus18:38, 9 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
What do you want to do, and in what program? Show the left half of the page, or only the top left with the two versions of the new Dex? Because if we get it so that it only shows the Dex's, it would... only show what the two Dex's look like. If we did the whole left half of the page, it would show part of what it can do. Unless what's underneath them has nothing to do with them...R.A.HunterBlade01:22, 13 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

If you look closely at the anime screenshot, it's pretty clear that the "dial" is simply pushed into the side of the Dex. It probably slides out when the trainer wants to use it. --Dual04:39, 30 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
That is the scanner that you can use to check what moves a Pokémon has while it's in the Poké Ball. That's what Paul uses for the first few Pokémon he's seen catching, such as the Starly, Ursaring, and Stantler. That's what the "This Pokédex, as shown in the anime by Paul, is able to scan a Poké Ball to see what moves the Pokémon inside it can use." quote is about. I didn't really know where to put this question so I thought I would put it here since it is related to the Pokédex. I know that both Kanto Pokédex (HANDY505 & HANDY909), The Hoenn Pokédex, and the Sinnoh Pokédex (HANDY910is) were all made into electronic toys for children but what about the other Pokédex like the Johto Pokédex (HANDY808) and it's remake? Were they made into electronic toys, in the case of the remake going to be made, too? Let me know either here or on my user talk page. I'm trying to find an answer for cosplay purposes. Thank you. --PikaPower!☆09:19, 21 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
The original Johto PokéDex was made into an electronic toy by Tiger Electronics. It was released with gold colouring rather than the red colour scheme used in the anime and was released as the "PokéDex Deluxe". It featured the spring-loaded hinges as seen in the anime, allowed the user to keep a diary, had an alarm clock and scheduler, could record a list of your top 10 favourite Pokémon and featured entries of the first 251 Pokémon in National Dex order. Have fun.

Couldn't it be sorted out into the different canons a la Pokémon pages? You know, a section for anime, a section for games, a section for manga, and a section for TCG? I think that'd really help the readability, and we'd get less contradicting information in each paragraph. I'd be willing to help out, but I've never overhauled a page before and this seems like it would be a fair-sized one. Dragoness23:39, 15 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
One way to start a rewrite, if you've never done one of this scale before, is to create a usersubpage. That way, you can work on the article and it won't disrupt the wiki. I think it's a great idea, and there are a lot of pages that could have a similar expansion. If you want, give it a try :) —darklordtrom23:51, 15 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Recent reversions
Latest comment: 12 October 20102 comments2 people in discussion
I reverted not only because the info is later in the page, but also because the one isn't even really true and the other isn't a summary at all, and both are badly worded. There are different regions and models of Pokédexes, but not types (unless you count the different colours in BW and the non-implemented ones in HGSS), and none of them are truly "special" to any region, especially when you take the National Dex into consideration, and the fact that they keep changing each dex. The second sentence can't even be considered a summary, since it's talking about info that changes in each generation and has misleading information since it implies you only get the weight when you obtain a Pokémon. Maybe if they were reworded into something that was correct or belonged as part of the summary then I could deal with it but as is both are redundant and essentially incorrect. The Gen IV Pokedex was meant to be able to view all of the the Pokemon's different forms and gender differences. All except Cherrim was not available for viewing.
When we get the full regional dex listing, it'll go on a page specifically for that in the same vein as the Hoenn Dex or New Unova Dex. Until then, I don't think it's notable. Maybe a more general note that Kalos will have a combination of old and new Pokemon (unlike the original Unova Dex), but that's all. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 22:55, 14 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Something I've noticed:
Almost all Pokémon can be rotated 360 degrees, through the form page...Except for Mega Gengar, which can only be rotated right to left.
What's up with that? -- Pringles02:59, 27 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
Kalos Pokedex VA!

Cmon, we all know Suzy Myers is the VA for the Kalos Pokedex. So how long do we have to wait before we can finally add her to the VA list? - unsigned comment from Bellsprout (talk • contribs)

Okay, just made change which I think is larger then it should have been to the section; someone had written that the icon for the National Dex is the combo of the three Region icons, while it is just a Poké Ball in my copy of the game. Either someone had been speculating and added unconfirmed (and incorrect) information, or there are differences in international copies of the game with respect to this. I'm hoping the latter, since incorrect information is very annoying to deal with... --TruePikachu (talk) 00:02, 7 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
National Dex completed but only 714 Pokémon obtained in XY
Latest comment: 8 February 20142 comments2 people in discussion
I just got the crown symbol next to my national dex in Pokémon Y after obtaining Cresseilia. I still need Jirachi, Shaymin, Manaphy and Keldeo in my dex to complete it. Any ideas why this is?
When I went to the Prof, he also gave me the Shiny Charm. I am somewhat guessing it has to do with Mewtwo and the Legendary Bird, similar to the Kalos Dexes and Oval Charm. Yamitora1 (talk) 12:30, 8 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
Tom Wayland's Twitter told me that the Kalos Pokedex's English voice is really Suzy Myers. Can anyone tell that the Japanese voice for the kalos pokedex is either Megumi Hayashibara or Mariya Ise??? What does she sound like? - unsigned comment from Pansagetrent9 (talk • contribs)
Trivia about Red/Blue and Black 2/White 2

Is it noteworthy to mention that the game pairs Red/Blue and Black 2/White 2 are the only ones were all Pokédex entries between them are the same? - Mr. Flix (talk) 20:35, 1 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Since the new arc in the anime, this Pokédex had a different voice or had the same voice like the previous model?, it's considerated a Hoenn Pokédex? --HoopsterJohn (talk) 14:00, 30 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
I took screenshots of the Pokédex interface in XY and ORAS. I can't upload to the archives, so I guess I'll just leave them here for someone who can. 15avaughn (talk) 00:14, 25 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
Spin-off games
Latest comment: 18 October 20192 comments1 person in discussion
Actually, I just added the missing information from Stadium now. I think this Pokédex page looks pretty big, though. It's just a bit too large in my opinion. --Daniel Carrero (talk) 05:53, 18 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
Split

A lot or articles really just want to link to the content of Pokédex entries, but are stuck going to the top of this chonker of an article. (Most notably, every TCG Origin section ever). I think we can say the concept of a Pokédex entry is significant enough to warrant its own page It could mention text limits, common topics, the cards that give this mechanical relevance, the format based on the entries (151 Questions, but it's called a format), and the role in stories. The contents of Pokédex entry recycling would also instead be part of this article. Salmancer (talk) 03:48, 24 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
I've been also thinking that having a separate article for Pokédex entries could be a good idea. So as you said in the split template, looks like the idea would basically be splitting the current "Pokédex" into two articles: "Pokédex" and "Pokédex entry".
I suppose the "Pokédex" article would most likely still retain most of the information currently available:
the list of Pokédex devices (the appearance of each model)
the ways to obtain the Pokédex at the start of the games
the list of characters who have Pokédexes in the games/manga/anime
the list of Pokédex cards in the TCG
the Pokédex evaluation (the people who comment about how many Pokémon you have)
the Pokédex completion (the Diploma and other rewards given for completing it)
the list of voice actors
the list of names for "Pokédex" in other languages
the anime and manga sections with the recaps about what happens to Pokédexes over the course of the story (for instance, saying if a Pokédex is stolen or breaks in the story)
And the "Pokédex entry" can have this:
the kinds of information available about each Pokémon, including the entry text as well as the forms, weight, height, category, cry, map, etc. (as we know, they change depending on the generation)
I think it's not entirely clear if the Pokédex main page (the screen listing all the names of Pokémon) and the Pokédex search function would be completely explained in the "Pokédex entry" page. I think that these functions are important concerning Pokédex entries (they are ways to navigate the entries) but they are not entries. --Daniel Carrero (talk) 05:20, 24 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Ash’s Pokémon Training History on his Rotom Phone’s Pokédex
Latest comment: 18 April 20242 comments2 people in discussion
In which Journeys anime episode does Ash see the images of all his current and former official trained Pokémon that had already been registered throughout his entire Pokémon training history on his Rotom Phone's Pokédex? I forgot, did you know the name of this episode? Swampertguy (talk) 00:56, 18 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Heisei History of Pocket Monsters: From Tuesday to Thursday, and Then Sunday Are you maybe thinking of the recap New Years special Heisei History of Pocket Monsters: From Tuesday to Thursday, and Then Sunday? It aired a few months before Journeys and shows all of Ash's Pokémon at the time. Meeper12346 (talk) 14:51, 18 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
