Creating An Article
Hi, I'm new here, and I want to add an article on the Pokéblock Kit, but I have no idea how to add an article. Could you please help me? Also, how do you mark something incomplete\a stub? I cannot add to the Pokéblock Kit article directly as I do not have OR/AS. Splus13 (talk) 16:22, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
:Typically, you just search for the name of the article you want to create. If it doesn't exist, there will be a link there to create it. However, I don't think this needs its own article. It's something that can be added to the existing Pokeblock and/or items pages. == Stolen information ==
I haven't checked the other pages on the site, but this article of Clemont from the Heroes Wiki on Wikia is taken almost word-for-word from what we have on our Clemont page. Could someone look into this? :Also, I looked at their pages for Ash and Serena and while they're not identical, the Ash page in particular looks very similar to how ours was before some more recent edits. ::Staying at Clemont's page, this appears to be a rather substantial edit.  I haven't looked fully at how our page looked then, but if that was a copy and paste rip, that user needs to be exposed over there.  Of course, I don't know if that person is simply editing on both Wikis under different names and therefore it's his writing, in such a case, he can do whatever he wants...  CycloneGU (talk) 17:05, 3 January 2015 (UTC)

Volcanion
Going to pose this question out of curiosity after asking Force Fire, who indicated surprise at Volcanion moving to mainspace (which matches my reaction).  Why was that page deemed ready for mainspace?  Was it because it's generally complete or because everyone knows about it, so why not?
Also, Force Fire indicated the move pages might not be ready to be moved.  I respect that, but pose the same question to you on both Hoopa (with Hyperspace Hole) and Volcanion (with Steam Eruption) since you deemed Volcanion's page ready.  Both linked move pages, as you may notice, are in Relicant's userspace.  We should not link to userspace with mainspace pages (meaning the movelist should not link to his userspace, but the page instead be moved and THEN linked, if anything).  How are we going to handle those two moves?  I stress again that Force Fire says they aren't ready.  I suggest that if the Pokémon pages are ready, we need to put up supporting information for what we present or the pages should not be out there (and, in Hoopa's case in particular, it's been announced - so it needs to be out there).  Are we going to blot out the movelists until Hoopa is officially released and we can see the information in the game legitimately, or are we going to put both Hyperspace Hole and Steam Eruption up?  (The other three mentioned here are irrelevant, since they are not known as anything but in-game data ATM, but are also in the same userspace.)  We really have two options here; relocate Volcanion and Hoopa to userspace or relocate both needed move pages to mainspace, or at least half and half returning Volcanion to Relicant and bringing Hoopa's move (Hyperspace Hole) to mainspace.  I've also seen a reference to Hyperspace Fury, however, so the question is as to which move it really is, and only someone with a hacked Hoopa can take it to the move relearner to find out (and also get the missing Contest data).  If I can figure that part of my AR out, I might be able to use my Power Saves and add Hoopa or Volcanion, then revert to an older state when done.  Problem is I'm on a loaner ATM, so it'll be at least a week before I can do any of that.  CycloneGU (talk) 04:52, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
:I see by Recent Changes that you and Magnedeth have answered my question.  Thanks. =)  CycloneGU (talk) 05:21, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
::Hyperspace Fury is still missing.  I see this elsewhere, and I'm sure it's also at Serebii, but I'm not sure if you'd treat them as legitimate sources for our purposes.  It's in the second level-up table for Hoopa, as well, and is the only move missing.  CycloneGU (talk) 05:30, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
:::It's a page we're working on getting the information and getting the page made. And you're right, Serebii or any other fansite is not an accepted source under any circumstance. ::::Awesome.  Wish I had my Power Saves available (I will not put it on this loaner, though the accessory itself is right next to me LOL) so I could try to get a Hoopa and Volcanion Mystery Gift for contest data acquisition, but hey, what can ya do.  I can deal with that later.  The only thing missing aside from the one move itself is the contest data for the three known moves that are in the tables (the Hyperspace ones and Steam Eruption), and no one seems to have that, so that would be great to get in the tables and on the move pages themselves if we can.  I can try later if necessary to confirm it if I figure it out.
::::Also, I thought the move pages were set as admin. only for the time being.  How am I still able to edit the pages?  Was I put on a whitelist for them since I have been helping with the Pokémon pages?  (All the existing contest info came from me working on them.)  I know I'm not an admin. and the templates are still protected from my access.  CycloneGU (talk) 05:50, 12 January 2015 (UTC)

Froslass/Edits
Yesterday (February 16, 2015) I made an edit in Froslass' trivia section.  I noted that other than Frost-Rotom, Froslass is the only Ice-type to have more resistances and immunities than weaknesses.  I thought it was notable, so I added it.  When I came back to check on my edit to make sure it hadn't been removed, I found that my edit was gone.  I viewed the history of the page and I saw your reason for undoing this edit was that Froslass isn't the only Pokemon with these characteristics.  However, I  looked at Rotom's trivia, which stated that since the type-change, all of Rotom's forms (except Mow-Rotom) have or are tied for the least weaknesses of their respective secondary typings.  If Rotom-Frost has a mention, why can't Froslass?
On a side note, I apologize for edit-warring over the Gourgeist and Pumpkaboo pages.  I realize now that they are not the only Grass-types to learn damaging Fire-type moves.  Ludicolo can learn Fire Punch via ORAS move tutor.    Elephant1 (talk) 16:54, 17 February 2015 (UTC)Elephant1
:Edit: I realize that this information is irrelevant anyway, as Frost-Rotom has less weaknesses than Froslass, and Froslass doesn't have more resistances and immunities than weaknesses.  You can ignore my previous comment. --<span style="color:#58B058">E</span><span style="color:#58B058">lephant1</span> (talk) 20:39, 17 February 2015 (UTC)Elephant1

Edit Vandalism?
I tried to edit the page Pokémon in Serbia since it was full of completely incorrect information and when I was done. When I clicked Save page I got:
This action has been automatically identified as harmful, and therefore disallowed. If you believe your action was constructive, please inform an administrator of what you were trying to do. A brief description of the abuse rule which your action matched is: Vandal filter 2
So Administrator could anything be done about this?
Tditdatdwt (talk) 12:45, 5 September 2015 (UTC)
:The most likely cause is that you tried to remove too much information while not being autoconfirmed yet. I suggest continuing to constructively edit the wiki, and trying again later. Alternately, you can ask me or another admin to make the changes you attempted. == Odd Pokerus ==
Hello! I was wondering if you could help answer my question. I got a legit Xerneas with Pokerus and infected the Pokemon in my party with it. However, after more than 4 days the Pokemon in my party STILL have POkerus. Since I used a different Nintendo with a different time, I think that's what might cause the Pokerus to restart the Pokerus cycle again. If you could help answer my question, that would be great. Thanks!Leafeon6954 (talk) 05:40, 19 December 2015 (UTC)

Removal of Origin Information
I am very, very much against the outright removal of information from the origin section of Zygarde's page, and would instead recommend we take an approach which aims to condense the information and remove information which is already mentioned in the Wikipedia page, which - as you mention - we link to.
I argue this because of two primary reasons:
- Zygarde is largely unprecedented in that it has not one, but five different formes which need their inspirations explained. Because of this, the section on origin is naturally going to be much larger than that for most other Pokemon.
- Zygarde has a number of complicated mythological inspirations which need to be explained, and leaving out certain details fails to explain the importance of the mythological bases. For example, leaving out the information that Jörmungandr is an ouroboros, which symbolizes cycles (such as the cycle of life and death) is a mistake in my eyes because it is crucial information to understanding Zygarde's link between Xerneas and Yveltal. Instead of removing that information, the long-winding explanation I wrote can be shortened.
I can personally work on simplifying the information I wrote previously if that's alright. I had been concerned with adding all the information I could before, but my focus had changed towards condensation even before your edit. Frankly, even I recognized that the section was getting long and wordy, and I was going to work on getting everything neater.
So, basically, can I do what I was planning on doing before? <span style="background:#000000"><span style="color:#ffe700">Paᗧ•••</span><span style="color:#0000FF">ᗣck</span> </span> 16:12, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
:I'm not against condensing the information that was there. However, I do not think we need to re-add and condense everything. We are a Pokemon site, not a mythology site. The entire story behind a Pokemon's origin is not necessary to understand it. People wanting to now more or better understand Zygarde's origins are welcome to use the wikipedia links. You may add some of it back, but only that which is 100% necessary. Nothing should stray from the connection to Zygarde specifically. That said, please be aware that if it becomes to lengthy after your edit, I may still remove some of it. :::I'd like to join this game ( =P ). origin.
:::I've mostly put an introductory paragraph at the beginning to frontload the connection of Fenrir/Jormungandr/Hel being Loki's children; there's just no good way to spread that across the individual paragraphs for the three Formes without making the connection more difficult to pick out than it probably should be. After that, I also rearranged the paragraphs to go in "increasing" order, instead of in no consistent order. (I realize it might be logical to say that 50% is the "default" Forme, but I still think strictly increasing/decreasing is best. I also note that the Biology section actually has an order of 50%/Complete/10%...)
:::Pacack, I took some cues and left some out from the version on your page. The one thing I'd most like to comment on is, I don't know where you get that Helreginn was "gargantuan". (I just can't really find much, and nothing (halfway reliable) that says that.) Tiddlywinks (talk) 23:57, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
::::I do prefer Tiddlywinks' version, personally. I think it's a little bit more cohesive and contains less extraneous information. That said, I do think it's worth noting that Jormungandr encircles the earth and that Níðhöggr chews on the routes of the world tree. Reasoning being that they otherwise have little connection to Zygarde outside of being serpents. I think that's pretty much the only thing I would add, though. :::Regarding Helreginn, she is a Jötunn, also known as the "Frost Giants" in Norse Mythos. Regarding the changes and removals in Tiddlywinks' version of the page, I agree with a lot of them, but I do think it could be considered notable that Jörmungandr comes from Niðafjöll, the "dark mountains", in Norse mythos, because that may have helped to establish Zygarde's Ground typing and may have been the basis for the Terminus Cave (especially considering its root of "terminal"). That said, perhaps the information should be included on the Terminus Cave page instead?
:::Otherwise, the only criticism I have is that the sentences flow a little choppily, which is something that's easily fixed with some transition words. == Template:Pokémon Infobox and the Undiscovered egg group ==
Hi, I discovered the the infobox has the <code>egggroupn</code> parameter for specifying the number of egg groups a Pokemon is in. When it is set to 0, the template will show an additional note beside the hatch time calculation to show that the Pokemon cannot legitimately be obtained as an egg.
Should members of the Undiscovered egg group have that parameter be set to 0 to show that note, despite existing in the Undiscovered group itself? Chenzw (talk) 02:17, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
:I would also like to further suggest a change to the existing template. The new code is in Infobox Test, which adds a new parameter (currently named <code>flipname</code>) to correct for cases where the forme name goes after the species name (Zygarde, Hoopa). If a non-blank value is passed to <code>flipname</code>, the image caption and alt text will be rendered as <species name> <forme name>, instead of the old <forme name> <species name>. The new change to the template is backward compatible with all existing articles (so no changes to existing articles are needed), does not interfere with mega evolutions, and I have tested it on various existing articles by "substituting-previewing" the article with the modified template: Castform, Rotom, Deoxys, Charizard, Shaymin, Zygarde (with and without the new parameter), Hoopa (with and without the new parameter). I hope for your consideration in this matter, or at least some sign that the staff is looking into this change. Chenzw (talk) 03:12, 18 April 2016 (UTC)

Right now, Chenzw, I can tell you that changing that template is not a trivial matter. I'm not sure when we might get to it, but we are mostly aware of the issue. ::::I guess there's not really any dramatic change happening just by setting egggroupn=0, so I think that should be fine. Only for actual Legendaries and stuff (Unown, I guess), though. ==About Mienshao==
Hi, I just wanted to understand why. I mean, I'm sure I wasn't Over-interpreting; it may not be as crucial as knowing in which animal it is based but it IS relevant to Mienshao's design.
Not many pokémon change colors this drastically when they evolve and usually they have their reasons to. The Tang Emperor and the 13 Shaolin Monks episode was really important to the Shaolin history so I don't think it is just a random trivia that coincidentally matches. If the main problem was the wording I'm sure you guys could fix it for me.
So, I'd like to ask you to reconsider accepting it.  ExLight (talk) 00:12, 8 May 2016 (UTC)
:There's a couple of problems. The first and foremost being that it's pretty just drawing from its color, when there's not much else to go and there could be lots of reasons it's purple. The other reason is that I did a quick skim of the wiki page you linked and couldn't find what you were referring to. So, to start, could you direct me to the area that refers to this episode? ::If you got any other reasons for it being purple I'd love to hear it. ExLight (talk) 13:39, 8 May 2016 (UTC)
:::I'm still not entirely convinced. As for other reasons it could be purple, just looking at the wikipedia article for the color purple will give you a couple of reasons, aside from the possibility of it simply being the color the creators picked.
*In China, purple represents spiritual awareness, physical and mental healing, strength and abundance.
*In Japan, purple is the color of privilege and wealth, the color associated with the Japanese aristocracy.
Both of which could fairly easily be applied to this Pokemon in particular. Though, again, it could have simply been a design choice. There are tons of purple Pokemon that may very well just happen to be purple. I just don't feel that the one solitary issue is enough to associate with Mienshao. Now, if purple had a more general relation to monks I'd be more inclined to agree. ::::Anyway, thanks for hearing me out, I really like to search into possible origins for Pokémon so it's kinda nice when people take their time to listen to it. I wonder if Mienshao's color might become a discussion topic someday. ExLight (talk) 19:00, 8 May 2016 (UTC)
Vandal Filter 2
Hi! I was correcting all of the learnsets of glitch Pokémon, and I was doing fine, until I saw that M p'u's was very messed up and inaccurate. So, I deleted the learnset and found it was very different, so I remade it, but it wouldn't accept the edit. I know the filter is for new users deleting a lot of text, but I was just wondering if you could replace the learnset with this:

By creating your account you are now able to edit pages, join discussions, and expand the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia. Before you jump in, here are some ground rules:

 • Be nice to everyone. It's in the code of conduct.
 • Make good edits. Preview them before you save to make sure they're perfect the first time around.
 • Use wikicode and link templates when adding content to a page.
 • Use proper grammar and spelling, and read the manual of style.
 • You can't create a userpage until you've added to the encyclopedia. It's a privilege. See the userspace policy.
 • Use talk pages to resolve editing disputes. Don't "edit war," or constantly re-edit/undo the same thing on a page.
 • If you have a question about something, be proactive. Take a look at our FAQ. If you're still stuck, ask for help. The staff won't bite.
 • Sign all talk page posts with four tildes (~~~~). This will turn into your name and the time you wrote the comment.

thank you

Thank you for the kind greetings. I came and joined this wiki comunity to help with the "Pokemon + Nobunagas Ambition" game. I am a huge fan of KOEI and their games, and while i dont know much about pokemon outside the cartoons, i thought i could help by proving information regarding the human characters in the upcoming crossover game

I hope i can be of service
Ixbran 07:35, 14 January 2012 (UTC)

I have a question

First of all thank you for the nice greeting, I apreciate it. Also I noticed that on your page it said your favorite Pokemon was Evee. I would like to add my favorite Pokemon (Chandelure) to my page, how can I do that? Carson 07:15, 23 January 2012 (UTC)

You're welcome! Do you mean the little tag on my page? First you have to make some edits to the mainspace, so you can gain the ability to create and edit your userpage. Don't ask me how many, I don't know. Once you can do that, add to your page. For more information, look here. Crystal Talian 07:28, 23 January 2012 (UTC)

Thank you

Yes, the tag is very nice, and thanks for letting me know! Carson 07:49, 23 January 2012 (UTC)

I can't find the mainspace

Sorry if I am bothering you, but I am new to Bulbapedia. Is there a link somwhere? Carson 08:02, 23 January 2012 (UTC)

You're not bothering me at all. "Mainspace" refers to most Bulbapedia pages that don't start with "talk:" or "user:". For example, the edit you made to Axew's article counts as a mainspace edit. Crystal Talian 08:08, 23 January 2012 (UTC)

it still will not let me edit my userpage

By the way I'm glad i'm not bothering you, I don't like to do that to people

Carson 08:22, 23 January 2012 (UTC)

You'll need to make several mainspace edits before you are able to edit your userpage. I don't know the exact number, but it is several. By the way, you don't need to create a new header every time you add to a talkpage. You can just click the "edit" button next to the header where the conversation started. You really only need to make a new header when starting a new conversation. - unsigned comment from Crystal Talian (talkcontribs)
Thanks, I will go make some edits now.

Also I was making a new header every time becuase I didn't know how to reply at that time Chandelure1166 08:39, 23 January 2012 (UTC)

No problem! And I figured it was something like that. I was just letting you know. =3 Crystal Talian 08:43, 23 January 2012 (UTC)

Can you help me?

Hello Crystal! I don't know If you remember me cause I joined maybe four months ago or longer but I was one of the users you welcomed. Since bulbapedia is so big and I'm a sotr of new user, I'm not exactly sure what to edit (I actually joined just to help with the tyrouge page due to the fact where tyrouge was wasn't completely said). So I was sort of wondering if you possibly have a simple easy task I could do to help out the wiki? --Minor Notes 23:00, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

Just one last question

Hello, Crystal! Thanks for the suggestion of what to do. I just have one last question: for the trainer classes would it be possible to put a appearance section? I mostly noticed appearance is basically only used for pokemon and not for the human characters but I looked at another stub for a trainer class and it listed a appearance for both characters but it was in the section where game information was usually located. Well thanks for your help, bye!

Urgent

Signature move

Where is the problem? KyleRGiggs 09:01, 12 July 2012 (UTC)

Wait until Force Fire replies to your question before reverting him. However, I believe the problem is that this is a move tutor move. It wasn't that only Blastoise could learn, but that the tutor refused to teach it to anyone else. Crystal Talian 09:02, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
I am not reverting him actually, please check what I revert. KyleRGiggs 09:13, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
Hitting "undo" is reverting. I did check before I said anything. However, the issue appears to have been resolved now. Crystal Talian 09:18, 12 July 2012 (UTC)

Using templates

Instead of copying the code of the template Protect, simply write the template as such: Protect. ht14 21:36, 1 August 2012 (UTC)

I thought I did? I didn't copy the code, at least. I wasn't sure what the what the template code was, so I mimicked the way you call a welcome template. I guess the "subst" was unnecessary. Ah, well. Noted. Thank you. Crystal Talian 21:39, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
Subst is only used for Welcome template. :) All other templates do not use subst. ht14 21:40, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
Got it. I'll be sure to remember for next time. Thanks! Crystal Talian 21:43, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
Sorry to butt in but, subst is usually used for message templates like and , not just for . I beleive that subst is what signs those automatic message templates for you. --Pokemaster97 23:12, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, I mentioned that. It's hidden, haha, but yeah, what Pokemaster97 said is true. ht14 23:32, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
Derp, I didn't notice the hidden part sorry XD --Pokemaster97 23:38, 1 August 2012 (UTC)

Then Let's Bring it Up With Staff

To the uneducated reader who knows nothing about Pokémon and is trying to decide which game to buy as their first, such entries as the one I attempted to correct can be very misleading. Anyone looking at the Butterfree or Metapod articles can easily see at the top of the article that it evolves from Caterpie, but cannot catch it in Black; however, the text in cases like Metapod suggests that a player who wants a Butterfree HAS to play White, and cannot trade the Pokémon from Black, thus requiring a player who wants to catch Reshiram (that was my deciding factor, I wanted the white legendary) to purchase White instead. This is completely misleading to an uneducated reader, and it is wrong to assume that everyone will understand that you can still evolve it in Black. After all, clicking a Caterpie link from Metapod's page already shows you can only catch Caterpie in White.

This is a task I'm willing to undertake myself as well, I'm just trying to establish a correct precedent. The existing one is entirely flawed. CycloneGU (talk) 01:04, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

I understand your concern, and I agree that it is a good point. The next time I have the chance to talk with staff, I will bring up your point, and we will let you know when a decision is made on the subject. Crystal Talian 01:10, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
Fair enough. Give me a heads-up on my talk page when that occurs; I constantly refer back to things here more often than anywhere else, so I'll see it. Let the staff know I'm willing to take this on myself as well, and if I do make an odd mistake somewhere, they're welcome to clean up after me where necessary. Hopefully that won't happen very often. =D CycloneGU (talk) 01:14, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

Name Translations

Hey Crystal Talian, I just saw your message and I just wanted to say, first, sorry about that, I'm not fluent in Japanese, and I was looking for something to edit, and I thought that I could do that by translating something from English to Japanese; second, that I didn't really know how the translations worked, which is why I translated the English names back into Japanese; and third, I don't own a Japanese copy of a Hoenn-based game (As I live in the US, and it's realtively hard to get one in and around where I live). The next time I edit a page on Bulbapedia, and any other site for that matter, I'll make sure I know what I'm doing before I start editing. I'll also make sure that the next I edit a page on the site, I'll make sure it will be not only tested personally, but also that it follows the conduct of Bulbapedia and that if it deals with another language that I'm not fluent in, I promise that I won't translate on this site until one of the following is true: A) I'm fluent in that language (I'm currently fluent in only English, but I'm working on becoming fluent in German) B) I use an offical site to translate (i.e. a govt. website) or C) If I'm thinking about editing, one of the above is true

I'll become fluent in any language, if needed. I am actually thinking about becoming fluent in Japanese, amongst a few other languages. One final thing, I wasn't really thinking about how the translating worked, especially with languages like English and Japanese, which have little to no connection. If you (Or another Bulbapedia staf member) have any problem with anything I edit, like this one, just feel free to edit that page back and tell me. Thanks for pointing that out, and telling me about how translating generally works. Thanks! Grayglove

A little help, please

I have been creating battlefield sections for the kingdoms of Pokémon Conquest and would like to create a battlefield page. It looks like I now have the right to create pages, so could you please tell me a bit about creating them? Sorry to bother you. The editing help doesn't help. LOL! Either way, I would really appreciate it if you helped me out. Eeveewithwings123 (talk) 21:50, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

You're not bothering me at all. As far as getting a page started, all you have to do is run a search for the title of the page you want to make, and click the link to create the page. As far as the content for that page, I suggest you look over the other Conquest pages and how they are written and set up, and then maybe go over the manual of style. Other than that, just go with your instincts. Good luck and have fun! Crystal Talian 03:07, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

Umm... I've been too busy to do the page yet (and a bit scared, I know it's stupid to worry about it, I'm just not that good at codes and all), but what would you use for a suffix to show that the article is for the conquest games and not any others? Thanks in advance!--Eeveewithwings123 (talk) 16:01, 21 January 2013 (UTC)

Since we don't have any other battlefield pages, a suffix isn't needed to distinguish it. But if you're wanting to make a different page that will need a distinction, the suffix would be (Conquest). I don't think it would be needed for any pages at the moment, though. Crystal Talian 00:28, 22 January 2013 (UTC)

I've suddenly lost my ability to create pages... Why? Eeveewithwings123 (talk) 14:24, 11 May 2013 (UTC)

Can you tell me what the name of the page you're trying to create is? And what message it gives you when you try to create a page? You may be trying to create a page under a protected namespace. Crystal Talian 07:11, 12 May 2013 (UTC)

A question

Hello Crystal! I have a question and I thought you would probably be able to answer it. Can any user, including the ones that are admins or higher, use obscenities on their user pages? I was just sort of wondering since I found this bureaucrat, User:Darkeiya, using a obscenity in a user box and that confused me since I thought Bulbapedia had rules against that.If you could answer my question I would greatly appreciate it. Minor Notes (talk) 03:51, 7 December 2012 (UTC)

There are rules against it in mainspace articles. However, so long as it is within reason and not specifically directed at a person (or group of people), its allowed on userpages and talkpages. So long as it is not excessive, it's nothing to worry about. Thank you for your concern, though. Crystal Talian 04:35, 7 December 2012 (UTC)

Thankyou for answering my question. The obscenity is directed at a villian in the game so does that change it or is it just different if it is directed at a living person?Minor Notes (talk) 16:04, 7 December 2012 (UTC)

Only a living person, as it would then be against the Code of Conduct. Crystal Talian 03:51, 8 December 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for answering my question yet again. Now take for instance the God the Christians believe is real and say that some one uses a obscenity and directs it at that God, would that have to be taken down since Christians believe He is real or would it simply be ignored since not everyone believes He is real?Minor Notes (talk) 23:38, 8 December 2012 (UTC)

That would be offensive to a particular group of people, so that would not be allowed. To put it simply, swearing is okay in the userspace and talkpages so long as it is not offensive to a person or persons. So, if someone is swearing at at game, a game character, or nothing in particular, then that is fine. On the other hand, if someone is directing that obscenity at a person, people, entity, or concept that insults or offends someone, it would not be allowed. If you think that something you want to say might offend someone, then don't say it. Crystal Talian 04:44, 9 December 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for your help Crystal! I thought by leaving you a message you might get back to me the next month (since I have had dreadful experiences on talk pages for articles and I thought this would be the same) but I was very surprised that you got back to me in less then a day. Thank you so much for answering my questions but I'm afraid I've got another one (I believe this one will be my last). Now say for instance a user takes a word that is less then a obscenity but is in the same category and then put the word God in front of it and then uses that word to insult themselves. Would that be allowed because they were insulting themselves or would that be not allowed for they would be insulting both God and themselves? I was wondering about that after seeing a user do that exact thing.Minor Notes (talk) 23:45, 11 December 2012 (UTC)

I really can't run through every possible scenario. The main thing is to avoid offending people. If you think you're going to offend someone, just don't say it. If you're worried about something someone else said, staff will get to it if it is a problem (and if the user hasn't already been banned). Bulbapedia does not discriminate against any race, religion, or ethnic background. If someone is openly expressing discretions against these groups they will be blocked indefinitely whether they use swear words or not. In the case of the provided situation, it would not be allowed as it may offend some people. Crystal Talian 00:45, 12 December 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for your help but I think I would just annoy the staff...Minor Notes (talk) 02:37, 12 December 2012 (UTC)

Moving Sections

Crystal i am new and i made a new section on a page and how do i move it to a new place(Icestar649 (talk) 22:22, 19 December 2012 (UTC))

Hello. First, please add new talkpage comments to the bottom of the page. I've moved this comment for you. To move the section you created, all you need to do is copy-paste it to the area of the page where you want to be (make sure you delete it from the original area so it isn't on the page twice). However, I would suggest simply putting the section in the correct area of the page to begin with. To bring up the whole page for editing, just click the "edit this page" tab at the top of page and add the new section where it needs to be. I went ahead and looked over the section you added, and removed it as it was not the right style for this website. Please work your grammar and do not use "you" when writing for articles here. I would suggest that you look over the manual of style, it'll help you out with some of the basics of editing here. Crystal Talian 22:59, 19 December 2012 (UTC)

If you are leaving the site and wish for your page to be deleted, staff will take care of that for you. The reason why you can't edit your page is because new users have to make a certain number of mainspace contributions before they are allowed to edit their userpages. I realize that you are not a new user, but you have not made any edits since this rule was put in place a long time ago. So, the restriction is having an effect on you as well. If you wish to stay, you simply need to make some contributions and you'll be able to edit your page again. Crystal Talian 22:41, 4 February 2013 (UTC)
Can you just delete my account for me then? That would be appreciated, I'm more of a reader, not a contributor. =) Bageese (talk) 01:01, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
We have deleted your page for you, but we can't actually remove the whole account. If you don't want to log into it, you don't have to do so. The only thing that will remain is your talkpage for archival reasons. Crystal Talian 01:13, 5 February 2013 (UTC)

"If there are six, it's not notable"

Technically, it's only five, since Deoxys differs via forme. Is five a small enough number out of 650 to be deemed notable? Sweeping statistics like this at a glance are of considerable use to people who play competitively. Jumpman16 (talk) 03:54, 11 February 2013 (UTC)

I'm afraid that five is still too many. We also don't typically include competitive based trivia. Crystal Talian 04:00, 11 February 2013 (UTC)

Article about Misty's Gyarados

Hello, im bringing this up because way article about Gyarados was written brings confusion among fans making it seem like things are based on assumptions rather than actual proof itself. Its listed on main page as Misty pokemon, but in article about Gyarados way its worded make it seem like its gym pokemon. Which many fans find confusing judging by comments you can read online.

Since going by canon and what was showed in anime from moment Misty earned its trust Gyarados was showed to be used and trained only by her. One of proof to this was revealed in episode "Togepi Mirage" when Misty stated how she trained Gyarados teaching it flamethrower. Like its been already brought up in article Gyarados seem to establish special bond with Misty , bond we never saw existing between him and Daisy, Violet or LIly. Before MIsty returned to gym earning its respect it was also showed how he didn't listened to anyone being out of control, until Misty intervened choosing to be her partner and nothing afterwards indicate how anyone else beside Misty use him befriending it.

Which is one of basic ways trainers acquire new pokemon.Otherwise if we are going to count only captured pokemon as ones which belong to someone, than same logic could be applied to Dawn Togekiss or Brock Onix which they received as gifts from others. Or all befriended pokemon others acquired on travels. In comparison all Brock pokemon are currently at gym, but that doesn't mean they belong to gym and new gym leader Forest.

Gyarados may be gym pokemon before(even though in canon such thing has never been stated), but that doesn't necessarily mean it still belongs to gym with canon treating it more as Misty's than gym pokemon. There are plenty other gym pokemon like Dewgong, Shelder, Goldeen etc but we don't see Misty taking them with her outside the gym, nor she was ever showed to be using them.Let alone being listed as her pokemon. Only Gyarados is being taken with her whenever she leaves gym being treated in similar manner like Corsola, Staryu and other pokemon which belong to her are.It was also showed how she is the only one training it, learning flamethrower in process. Likewise on every site whether its SPPF, or some Japanese poke site Gyarados is listed as one of Misty pokemon with only bulbapedia causing confusion listing it at same time both as Misty and gym pokemon?

Therefore i believe judging by what canon showed so far it would be more accurate to classify Gyarados as Misty rather than gym pokemon since unlike its case with other pokemon we reliably know belong to Cerulean, Gyarados is another story bring showed to have special bond only with Misty listening, training and being taken with her whenever she leaves gym. Move trivia

I don't think that "the only non-X-type Pokémon that can learn the move" trivia should be on the move pages, since you can see it easily just by looking at the move lists (which is why sprite trivia isn't allowed). For example, when you read the Poison Gas page, you'll notice immediately that Drowzee and Hypno are the only Psychic types without having to read the trivia section.--Den Zen 21:50, 25 March 2013 (UTC)

I considered that, but it really doesn't belong on Pokémon species pages either. Being the only one not of a type to learn it is potentially notable, but the major question is where to put it. It is easily visible on the move pages, but it's not really relevant on the species pages since it's more about the move than the Pokémon. I will look into the best place to put them tonight. Crystal Talian 22:09, 25 March 2013 (UTC)
I'm also dumbfounded as to why you reverted my edits. In my opinion, all those reversions and pseudo-reversions of yours should be reverted, as the trivia does not belong in the move articles (see my talk page), and if it is notable, then of course the species articles are the appropriate locations. Really can't follow the logic in the argument that the content is not relevant for the species articles. How is it not? I'd even say it's more about the Pokémon than the move. Do you think that the fact that Bagon and its evolutionary relatives are the only non-Fire-type Pokémon to learn Ember says more about Ember than the Pokémon? I don't. I'd appreciate it if you could just undo your brash actions, disregarding any face-saving that could be gained from arguing and making this "major question" more complicated than it has to be; there are two location options, one is inapproriate due to being beyond redundant, the other is not - species articles if notable, nowhere if not notable. That was the conclusion I reached when editing, reflected in my edit summaries, so if you want to oppose that, at least make up your mind before reverting. Also, it appears your reversions are made without regard to my grammar-fixes (compare your restored Flame Wheel (move) to what you removed from Rattata (Pokémon)), which is, you know, counterproductive. About Pupitar?

In the Pokédex entries of Pupitar in FireRed and Silver it describes Pupitar as fast, but it is not really that fast for a Pokemon at Level 30. And I would aalso like to add "despite its Pokédex entries it can be damage by steel-type.Gelato Gelato (talk) 05:34, 30 March 2013 (UTC)Gelato Gelato

Pokedex entries do not necessarily relate to in-game mechanics. The games can only do so much. Crystal Talian 05:36, 30 March 2013 (UTC)
How about in the trivia section of Escavalier: "Although Escavalier's Pokédex entry states that it flies around at high speed, its base speed is among the lowest of all known Pokémon, at just 20, nor can this species have the Ability Levitate.".Gelato Gelato (talk) 08:42, 30 March 2013 (UTC)Gelato Gelato
I will be removing that when I can get to it. Staff had a discussion a short while ago, and it was decided to remove trivia such as this. However, as there are currently over six hundred Pokémon, it is difficult to remove all the trivia at once. Crystal Talian 09:29, 30 March 2013 (UTC)

"Out of three Pokemon, so not notable"

Since this is noting a record, and not a peculiar trait, I don't see how this notability requirement enters into it. Would you remove the similar record from the Hydreigon article if it was shared with two other species? Yvnr (talk) 07:54, 30 March 2013 (UTC)

I can understand why you didn't respond to my message in the "Move trivia" section, since that wasn't entirely a question, and (judging from the current state of the articles) it seems like I got through anyway, but ignoring this question seems against the purpose of talk pages. How does this not merit a response? (A week has passed, and you've been actively replying to/handling subsequent talk page messages from other users.) Yvnr (talk) 10:33, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
I apologize for your wait, but I have not replied because there is not currently an answer to give. Stat trivia is under discussion among staff and a decision has yet to be reached. For the time being, trivia relating to highest/lowest stat is remaining on the site regardless of a tie or not. However, the majority of staff agrees that the tie for "lowest level required for evolution" is not notable. Neither are most other ties. However, since a few are still being discussed, I did not want to reply and give you the wrong information as that would cause problems later. Crystal Talian 02:51, 7 April 2013 (UTC)
Very well, thank you for informing me - no need to follow up here when you're done discussing. Yvnr (talk) 08:02, 7 April 2013 (UTC)

Regarding Mew's name origin

According to Webster's Universal English Thesaurus: mew vb confine, coop, encase, enclose, imprison;cast, change, mold, shed. That is why I said Mew's name origin comes from the word (don't worry I'm going to change it into verb when I edit)mew.Gelato Gelato (talk) 12:29, 30 March 2013 (UTC)Gelato Gelato

Just because a word can mean something, doesn't mean that it does in every case. The usage of the word in this way seems unlikely (and therefore not notable) in Mew's origin. Crystal Talian 04:32, 31 March 2013 (UTC)
..., for example:"The chameleon mew its color."Gelato Gelato (talk) 05:33, 5 April 2013 (UTC)Gelato Gelato
"Mew" is more often used in reference to birds moulting. Is that an example of your own, or one from another website? Because my research indicates that it only used to indicate a change in birds. An example from the Oxford dictionary: "the eyasses clung dully to their leashes as if they were mewing", referring to hawks in moult. The definition "to confine" is also primary used in reference to birds used for hawking. This has nothing to do with the Pokémon Mew. Crystal Talian 05:42, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
My own. Well cloud and sky are completely different in definition, but their synonymous because they come from the same latin word.Gelato Gelato (talk) 05:54, 5 April 2013 (UTC)Gelato Glato
The clouds are the sky are not synonymous simply because they come from the same word. You cannot use "sky" to mean "cloud" or vice versa. The word "mew" coming from the same word as "mutant" does not mean it should be added to Mew's page in the context of "change". This word used in this way has a strong connotation towards birds, which the Pokémon clearly is not. It is notable to have mutant in Mew's name origin, but that is already there. Cartoon Network

How reliable is Cartoon Network? They have BW123 as Farewell, Unova! Setting Sail for New Adventures!, and on the List of anime episodes, it's just Farewell, Unova!. — Reshi643 03:12, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

It would be better to check the official site for episode titles if possible. The absolute best source to use is the title card of the episode itself when it aired on TV, the second would be the DVD title card (they occasionally make corrections, which are usually mentioned as trivia), third would be the official site, and the Cartoon Network would be at the bottom of the pecking order. So while CN is somewhat reliable, we would prefer the use of a different source if possible. Crystal Talian 03:43, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

Reversion of Special abilities section initiative

I expected that edit to be reverted in a flash due to not being protocol or whatever, so here goes the discussion. Your comment: "I am aware other pages do this, but this not meant to be a list of moves learned (even rare ones) we try to limit this only to signature moves." I am not aware other pages do this, which pages do this? Of course it's not meant to be a list of moves learned, those are in the Learnset sections, what are you getting at? Summarizing which "rare" moves the various species can learn by leveling up, in their Special abilities sections, was clearly my intention, and if I may say so, an almost objective improvement of these sections, spot on in terms of subject matter. Full implementation would of course wait until a threshold has been decided and Generation VI has been launched. Instead of telling me that it's not protocol, and you prefer to only include "signature moves", why don't you explain why you think my initiative is not a good idea, which will improve these sections? Or in case you're not acting out of direct disagreement, refer me to whoever it is you think you're pleasing by reverting this initiative of mine. Yvnr (talk) 08:02, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

Many pages provide a list of "notable" or rarely learned moves. As for which pages, pretty much every Pokemon species page we have. Bulbasaur alone is a good example of what I mean. The problem here is that we do not want any moves other than signature moves or previously signature moves listed in a Pokemon's biology section. The reason they have not been removed yet is because of an upcoming change in the biology section. It'll be easier to make the changes together instead of making many individual edits. I actually did not remove your edit due to any protocol regarding changes. Although, as I have told you before, any change that will affect or be implented on a large number of pages should be discussed before it is implemented anywhere. New ideas should not be tested in the mainspace. Mainspace testing creates large inconsistencies across pages, as well as a couple of other problems. Please, if you have an idea for a change, bring it up with staff first or test it in your userpace. Thanks. Crystal Talian 12:20, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
The Bulbasaur article lists 13 moves, and uses colorful language. By my method, using a threshold, only 1 move (i.e. Seed Bomb (Bulbasaur does not learn Power Whip or Bullet Seed by leveling up)) would be listed, and it would not be presented in colorful language. As such, I think that is a horrible example, and focusing on these supposed similar instances in your reply derails the discussion - I don't know of any, so they played no role in my editing. You say that you (we) do not want any moves other than "signature moves" listed, but I asked you to explain this opinion, not repeat it. And I don't see how this initiative has to interfere with these "upcoming changes", which I have no idea what are about, as you ignored to elaborate on them back in April at my talk page, section "Examples in the Mainspace". It's not really testing, neither was the Tynamo edit, which you similarly reprimanded me on back in April; they're single edits, improving the encyclopedic article, breaking no rules whatsoever, not forcing other articles to follow suit, and even easy to revert. You're telling me to bring it up with staff first, and at the same time, you (a member of staff) refuse to actually discuss this initiative upon my invitation, right here. I don't know what to make of that, really. And I've used talk pages a lot, when my ideas involve large changes, but you can see for yourself how much that has achieved so far, even when people do agree with me. I feel like you have a habit of just removing content without addressing the idea itself, sometimes without even making sense. This is without mentioning your actions (or lack thereof) in relation to the matter "discussed" on your talk page, section "Move trivia". I've even got a section on my own talk page named after you, completely incognito, out of the blue, still clueless as to how that came about. If you have to disapprove of an idea, can't you at least engage in dialogue about the actual idea, or otherwise leave the reversions to people who are willing to do so? Yvnr (talk) 13:38, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
A Pokemon's moveset has nothing to do with its special abilities. If more than one Pokemon can learn a move by any means at all, then it is not special to that Pokemon. This is why we would ideally like to include only signature or previously signature moves. They are unique and therefore "special" to that particular Pokemon. "Single" mainspace edits such as your Tynamo and Munna edits are not actually singular. They set a standard. If we note something or display something on one page, we must be consistent and do it on all similar pages. So when you, or anyone else, adds references (as in the Tynamo edit) or set a certain standard (such as Munna) then all similar pages should do the same for consistency. Not to do so is unprofessional and, frankly, sloppy looking. If you wish to discuss topics like this more thoroughly, then you should create a topic on the Pokemon's or on the Pokedex Projects talkpages where it's easier for more members (and staff) to respond to it, rather than relying on my input alone. Crystal Talian 21:15, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
That's quite the bold statement; that the moves (manifestations of the powers a Pokémon possesses) a Pokémon is programmed to learn by leveling up (the most specific, direct manner of "distribution") "has nothing to do with its special abilities". The remainder of your argument hinges on equaling "special" with "unique"...may I suggest changing the section title in case that's the intended definition of the word? The can't-be-more-than-1-out-of-all-instances-argument, while often highly relevant, is not applicable to everything; you're dealing with more than 600 instances (similarities are bound to occur), and the information being cut due to enforcing this argument is not some new trivia point or whatever, but information concerning the exact subject matter of the target section. I still disagree regarding those two edit examples. They may set a standard, but that's not what constitutes the problem. What matters is whether that standard is an improvement to the site or not; if it is, consistency will eventually come around. Clearly, you wouldn't remove something good just because it makes the remaining articles look "sloppy"; you obviously remove the content because you find it adverse. This would be fine if you actually addressed/discussed the proposed idea, but your lack of involvement has been plainly obvious from this exchange. And that is unfortunate, so yes, if my ideas are to be dismissed, I would prefer "discussing them more thoroughly". With uninvolved, reverting patrollers like you around, I suppose there's no other way than proposing ideas via discussion pages, drawing from userspace page examples. If that's the way Bulbapedia is to be run, then so be it. Let's see how that goes. Case rested. Yvnr (talk) 17:54, 23 July 2013 (UTC)
For future reference, you would've saved about 6,500 bytes of futile discussion if you had told me right away that the Special abilities sections were being abandoned—without these, the initiative is irrelevant. Yvnr (talk) 07:08, 17 August 2013 (UTC)

Why?

Why did you delete my edit on emolga habitat because i thought it was a good edit. Im trying to do good additional edits so i can make my account auto-confirmed.--Oshawott213 (talk) 21:38, 8 August 2013 (UTC)

Because, if you look at the areas where Emolga are found, most of them are not forests. If you can show me some evidence that Emolga are particularly likely to be found in forests over other areas, I will happily restore your edit. However, you should not be focusing on becoming auto-confirmed. Your focus should just be good edits in general. Crystal Talian 21:47, 8 August 2013 (UTC)
Additionally, you should not add something back after it has been removed. If you have problem with the removal of one your edits, you bring it up on the talkpage. Do not simply put it on the page again. That's called edit-warring and is against the rules. Crystal Talian 21:50, 8 August 2013 (UTC)

Why remove Biology

Why are you removing most of the biology subsections like Habitat for all the Pokemon. I think it was nice to know where some Pokemon live and if they're incorrect don't remove the entire section like an idiot and update it with relevant accurate information. Removing it is a bad move. - unsigned comment from Xx dan xx (talkcontribs)

If you've read the message from the editor on the main page, you would know why. The staff has decided to condense and rewrite the biology section into one section as it was really all over the place. The habitat is still there, just combined into one paragraph with all the other things, the only habitat related thing removed were the habitat icons as they only apply to 365/649 Pokémon. And please don't insult a staff member, saying that they're removing things like an idiot goes against the code of conduct.--ForceFire 13:16, 19 August 2013 (UTC)

Shellder Biology and Biology for forme changing Pokémon

How are we suppose to go about bringing the biology of Pokémon with multiple formes up to code? Shellder has three different shells, two of which due to a parasitic relationship with Slowpoke. Then we have Pokémon like the Kami trio who have a normal form and a forme change. Is there a certain structure to follow? Yamitora1 (talk) 02:03, 21 August 2013 (UTC)

Pokemon like Kami trio will need a paragraph or so describing their separate forms. This can be done similar to how the Mega Evolutions were handled on Blaziken and Ampharos's pages. Shellder can be handled in the same way. Since the Slowbro and Slowking forms are so similar, a single paragraph should be plenty to describe both. Crystal Talian 02:16, 21 August 2013 (UTC)
Ok, thanks. I hope I did it right. Yamitora1 (talk) 20:07, 21 August 2013 (UTC)

As I said, simply removing the headers makes it difficult to tell which Pokemon have been appropriately brought up to date and which have not. It creates an unnecessary amount of complication. Crystal Talian 13:01, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
How was my edit any different from this one? --The Truth 13:49, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
It's not so much that the edits are different, it's the way I was looking at them. I looked at Scolipede without looking at the changes made. Also, I had the time to make corrections on Scolipede when I checked it - as you can see if you look farther ahead in the history. I looked at the differences on your edit, and did not have the time to make corrections. You're welcome to help with the project, it is just very much preferred that you bring the article as up to date as possible as opposed to simply removing headers. Biology Content

I've been adding Pokédex info to Biology sections of Pokémon such as Butterfree's ever since the new format was introduced. I assumed Biology would be split into 2 or 3 paragraphs: one of its physical description, another of its Pokédex data, and another of other data (anime-specific abilities, such as Bulbasaur's Bulba-by, etc). Unfortunately, we were never given a specific structure with which to write Biologies. Our only reference is Bulbasaur, whose Biology is structured as: physical description with some Pokédex info, anime-exclusive info, habitat and even more anime info. That list of data is clunky, inconsistent, and mixes anime canon with game canon.

It needs to be restructured. Too little source material (Pokédex) is shown, but info that is canon in only one media (the anime) is ever-present. It needs to be explicitly stated when info comes from anything other than the games. I chose to bug you about this since you seem the most active with this new little project. Thank you for giving attention to this. --IWannaBeTheVeryBest 14:04, 1 September 2013 (UTC)

The goal with the biology rewrite is to form cohesive, flowing paragraphs that are a culmination of all the biological information that we know and can confirm. Placement of the information should be based on the information itself, not its source. For example, if the anime reveals a special ability, that information should go in a paragraph about special abilities. If this means putting something from the anime in a paragraph mainly consisting of game data, then that's fine. When we say it needs to be clear where the information comes from, we are referring to the reference links. These links are used to confirm the validity of the statement, not to divide canons.
As for how many paragraphs and on what topic each Pokemon gets, that's going to depend entirely on the Pokemon. Some Pokemon have a lot of available information, whereas as others do not. In general, each Pokemon should have a paragraph on anatomy and/or physiology and a paragraph on abilities or other available data. However, some Pokemon have very little information and both of these topics can be combined into a single paragraph. Others will require more paragraphs covering other topics because we know more about them. It has to be done on a case by case basis.
Bulbasaur in particular has been looked over by a number of staff members, and it has been agreed that it is fine the way it is written now. Crystal Talian 00:47, 2 September 2013 (UTC)

Meowstick

Why aren't we allowed to keep this redirect?--The Truth aka Relicant 17:49, 14 September 2013 (UTC)

For one thing, we shouldn't encourage misspellings. If it had been misspelled in an official source, I'd say fine. But if the only place was a leak on fansite, I really don't think it's necessary at all. Yes, it's one letter off from the official spelling, I realize that. However, I don't see it being a common mistake. If it becomes an issue, we can discuss adding it back at a later date. But for now, I see no real reason to keep it other than to encourage misspellings. Crystal Talian 17:53, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
That's an alarmingly prescriptivist reasoning, don't you think? People who are going to misspell it are going to do so whether or not we have a redirect; not having one just means it'll be harder for them to find the page they want. Isn't that completely contrary to the point of being a community encyclopedia? Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 17:56, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
When, before it was deleted, he discussed that with me, I said the same thing. But then he gave me examples of the same stuff and said the list went on. And more things. Here's the conversation as a reference オリナル TheOriginalOne 17:58, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
I am well aware of the discussion that have been going on. And Pumpkinking, yes, people will misspell it regardless. However, we cannot account for every possible misspelling and this one has not proven itself common yet. If we have the redirect, it shows up as a suggestion on the search bar and that will certainly encourage it as a common misspelling. I'd rather wait and see if it becomes a common misspelling without our help. Crystal Talian 18:24, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
For the record, "encouraging misspellings" only counts when the redirect has "(Pokémon)" attached to it; that's not what's allowed. Several pokémon have misspelled redirects because, in moderation, they do no harm unless they're linked to without the p. Meowstick has been in circulation as the name of a pokémon since May (6,760 Google results), but since this a fan name and not a common misspelling (unlike Ninetails and Ratata, which people still get iffy over even years after their release), it falls under the rules of "Smugleaf": not unless an official publication used it. (Zoroaaku falls under alternate katakana reading.) Luna Tiger * the Arc Toraph 18:43, 14 September 2013 (UTC)

"More than one is not notable"

... Last time I checked, it was. Before T-tar gained a weakness we had trivia on the pages of all Grass/Psychic and Ice/Grass Pokémon stating they were part of a small group of Pokémon with seven weaknesses, which even today is the most weaknesses any Pokémon can have. Clawitzer and Lucario are the only two Pokémon capable of learning all the pulse/wave/whatever moves, so it's more exclusive than the seven weaknesses club and therefore notable. --The Truth aka Relicant 13:03, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

Those were removed under the same rule that means the pulse moves should be removed. Just because something wrong existed once doesn't mean it's OK and can be used as precedent; it just means either nobody noticed it or nobody bothered to take the time to fix it. I feel that they're fundamentally different: the Clawitzer and Lucario trivia are trying to say "these two are unlike all other Pokemon", which is unnotable because they are not unlike all other Pokemon, since they are like each other. The species names trivia are saying "these Pokemon have this in common", which is different from "these Pokemon are unlike others". In any case, if the species name trivia is ruled unnotable, be aware that there are dozens (perhaps over a hundred?) pages that you're gonna need to remove it from, since it's already on all Pokemon articles that have species names in common with other Pokemon. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 18:58, 25 October 2013 (UTC)
Just my two cents after reviewing the pieces in question, I believe they're both notable pieces of trivia. If a species shares a species name with other Pokémon, then it's okay if that has more than one, because it's still a unique trait that only a small selection of Pokémon share. As for the base stat trivia, it mentions how it's a similarity between the two Pokémon families, but it doesn't contradict the statement of the trivia point. --Pokemaster97 20:43, 25 October 2013 (UTC)
I'm going to respectively ask that others not give opinions on questions directed at me, please. A while ago when staff discussed trivia, it as largely agreed that trivia such as that regarding the Lucario/Clawitzer example is unnotable. Shared species trivia was considered notable. This is based entirely on previous discussions and a reviewing may be necessary, but for now the previous discussion is what the pages should reflect. Thanks. My apology for the gendering and non-singular use in some article sections

Title says all. I'm not used to the more current Bulbapedia policies; I used to be an avid bulbapedia person a long time ago but I left for a long time due to personal life. I'll make sure to remember to remain gender neutral and singular in my edits. Thanks for the corrections! - 050294 (talk) 07:43, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

Sure, it's no problem. The switch to using all singular, gender-neutral pronouns is very recent. Crystal Talian 18:39, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

Mega Evolution

Crystal, though it wasn't source of power surge, they can still temporarily evolve into second/true final forms. --Samueljoo (talk) 01:59, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

They are neither "second" nor "true" final forms. Its a simple, temporary change. Its Mega Evolution, nothing more and nothing less. It should not be treated like a normal evolution, because it isn't. Crystal Talian 02:32, 12 November 2013 (UTC)
Crystal, Mega Evolution were additional evolution, so they can temporarily evolve into second final forms, not transformation. --Samueljoo (talk) 04:24, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

Having problems with a reverter

Hey there. I've been having constant issues with the user Relicant, who seems to bitterly revert without prior discussion on the talk page or change people's edits with rude messages. I came to you because I did not want to start an edit war of course but their rude and ridiculous behavior is a little tiring. - 050294 (talk) 22:36, 16 November 2013 (UTC)

Please don't attempt to antagonize me by making up blatant lies. I've never been rude in any of my edit summaries. Not towards you, and not towards anyone else. --The Truth aka Relicant 22:39, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
I have not "made up lies" and have in fact both witnessed ridiculousness in terms of you suddenly deleting things users have added for no reason other than "you don't see it" and have seen from you countless times that you have completely removed chunks from origin sections for personal opinion reasons. Considering you yet again reverted sections of origin as well as my reverts of your unnecessary reverts, I decided to take it up with an admin and be civil rather than having to constantly be reverted again with "yeah no" comments. - 050294 (talk) 22:43, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
Is this in reference to the recent revisions on Bunnelby and Diggersby's pages? Looking over the edit summaries, I wouldn't really call it rude. However, neither of you should be repeatedly removing and re-adding information. It should have been taken to the talkpage after the first removal and not re-added back. Even then, it could have been taken to the talkpage instead of being removed again. Honestly, I think the pair of you should be a little quicker to discuss things together instead of just trying to keep or remove information from a page. A discussion should be brought up the first time you have an issue with something, not the second or third. As it is now, I will look over the disputed information and make a decision on its validity. But next time, please bring up on the talkpage before re-adding or removing for a second time. Thank you. Crystal Talian 03:39, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
While it was triggered by the bunnelby/diggersby issue, I have seen this user doing this many times before (Spritzee/Aromatisse for example). I have told the user before to also please take it to the discussion page and they promptly ignored this, and that was quite a pain. I will admit maybe I should have brought it to the discussion page before bringing this to you, and I do apologize for that, but this user still has a track record for completely ignoring people telling them to "take it to the discussion page" multiple times and that, as well as their general rude snark to people for no reason, is a little uncalled for. Considering all of that was the reason I wanted to bring this issue to you, an admin. - 050294 (talk) 04:24, 17 November 2013 (UTC)

I understand your concern, and thank you for bringing it to my attention. I will discuss it with the rest of staff. Crystal Talian 04:30, 17 November 2013 (UTC)

A Bulbapedia Template

Don't know if it is right or not to ask but I seriously need it. You see we are developing a Pokémon Wiki for Subcontinent.Since we have just started it,we can't cover all articles. I want the permission of Bulbapedia Admins to make a Bulbapedia template just like Wikipedia template that redirects the reader to Wikipedia. By this way,we will be able to redirect our readers to Bulbapedia until we make our own page.I assure you that we will use it for non-profit use only. Please consider it.--Monfernape (talk) 17:53, 29 November 2013 (UTC)

The in the anime sections

Oh... So I guess trivia is not very important. Well maybe it will work. Thanks for answering my question. - unsigned comment from Ethan7 (talkcontribs)

Proper referencing to Pop culture

Hi, I would to know the reference guide to referencing pop culture. I ask this because it's quite obvious some Pokemon are referencing not only Pop culture, but media in general. For example, Zoroark and some bat pokemon have references to Hollywood monsters. But these monsters are not copyrighted and are of common knowledge. In Starmie's case, they are a reference to weird alien invaders. (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/StarfishAliens) Particularly, a reference to Starro, villain (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starro). This villain is space starfish that has mind control. Starmie is associated with space and has the psychic typing. This is not a concidence-it's a shoutout from the designers. - unsigned comment from ZoroFan (talkcontribs)

"Shout-out"s to specific pop culture characters without confirmation are completely subjective. Unless the designer's say "we were specifically referencing this character", then we cannot put in the origins sections. Sometimes a very, very general statement about themes commonly seen in pop culture are okay, but never a specific character or series. I don't see this as a valid reference in the case of Starmie. Coincidences can and do happen very often, and that's what many of these cases are considered to be unless they can be proven otherwise. Crystal Talian 22:13, 13 December 2013 (UTC)

Hi, this is about my Salamence edits. I figure it's close enough to the above in subject that I could use the same header.

I don't mean to attack/inconvenience you by arguing about it, I just feel strongly. As someone who struggled to understand what Salamence could be based on before first seeing the character in question, I feel that it has a place in the origins section. The only reason why I continue to try to get it in the article is because I assumed obvious references were alright to put in this section when I read the Tyranitar article.

Has it been stated that Tyranitar is based on Godzilla? Because according to its Bulbapedia entry, it "seems to be" based on Godzilla, with no citation. This has been allowed to stay in the article because

A. someone neglected to cite an interview stating it's based on Godzilla.
B. no one who takes the (entirely justified, that's not the issue I have) policy of avoiding including pop culture references as possible origins seriously has seen it yet.
C. it's common knowledge.

In cases A. and B., this information has no place in the Tyranitar article. In case C., I have a leg to stand on when arguing that my edit belonged in the article.

Again, I don't mean to give you a hard time. I'm not bringing this up to get the reference to Godzilla deleted because my own edit didn't fly, I'm doing it to fully understand Bulbapedia's policy. --cuckooshrike 03:03, 17 January 2014 (UTC)

Tyranitar's okay because it's directly referenced in its Japanese name: "Bangiras may be a combination of 野蛮 yaban (savage) or 蛮 ban (barbarian) and 嫌い kirai (hate). Giras may derive from Gojira, the Japanese name for Godzilla". I do, however, see your point. I will bring it up to the rest of staff. If its agreed that your basis is okay, I will add it to the article. If it is not agreed, the article will stay the way it is. However, I don't think we can go on a mere resemblance to a character - as that's something that very heavily depends on the person viewing. For example, to me it just looks like Salamance and Devilman both have simple bat-style wings, not that one is related to the other. Crystal Talian 03:10, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
Thank you for replying so quickly and for putting my edit up for staff review. --cuckooshrike 03:16, 17 January 2014 (UTC)

Shellder Venom

Slowking Pokédex Entry: Silver: When its head was bitten, toxins entered Slowpoke's head and unlocked an extraordinary power. PDPt: Being bitten by Shellder gave it intelligence comparable to that of award-winning scientists.

Clearly it had venom beforehand When it bit Slowpoke's head Not after it was attached to Slowking's head. Just like the spider that bit Peter Parker, it didn't bite spider man, it bit the man who would become spider man. Yamitora1 (talk) 10:33, 19 January 2014 (UTC)

But there is no mention of such a thing until after Shellder has changed to its spiral form. To me, it sounds like spiral Shellder has venom, but bivalve Shellder may not. Furthermore, there's no evidence that it uses said venom on any Pokemon other than Slowpoke. Until we get some really solid evidence one way or the other, I'd prefer it not be worded in a such a way as to suggest otherwise. Crystal Talian 18:54, 19 January 2014 (UTC)

Edits to Sylveon page

A few weeks ago, you told Fireball the Victini to stop changing the Sylveon page re:feline/etc. Not 24 hours after that, you undid another edit Fireball the Victini tried to make. Now, Fireball the Victini made basically the same edit again. When I tried to revert it (manually, due to an intervening edit), he undid my edit. I think Fireball the Victini needs a talking to (if not more). Tiddlywinks (talk) 01:51, 7 February 2014 (UTC)

Servine's biology

Regarding Servine's biology section, I'm confused as to what was 'unclear' in my rewrites. Would you care to clarify?

On a side note, I asked my older brother, also an avid Pokémon fan and who is a participant in an honor's English class, which sounded cleaner, better, and more professional (without revealing the authors of each version). He chose my rewrite. --FireGambit (talk) 16:04, 12 February 2014 (UTC)

Sure, I can certainly clarify. Since "green" in a color, adding "in coloration" is somewhat repetitive. "Thin" and "narrow" mean basically the same thing, so it was a small, unneeded change. "Beyond" can imply off to the sides or behind or even forward, while "behind" tells the reader specifically where they extend. The remainder really just made short, simple concepts longer, which wasn't really needed. I'm not trying to put down your brother's opinion or anything; both versions were well written. However, for the purposes of this site I feel the original was better suited. Thanks Crystal Talian 16:14, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
Hmm... I agree with what you said. However, some parts of my rewrite I feel should stay. For example, 'limbs' versus 'arms and legs' seemed more simple and concise. Using 'dirt-free' instead of clean helped with repetition, as 'clean' was used just in the last sentence; normally, this wouldn't be a problem, but reading through the section out loud made me realize how repetitive those two sentences sounded. Also, I really like the sound of 'This Pokémon hides in thick foliage or shadows to avoid attacks before retaliating with blinding speed,' haha. --FireGambit (talk) 16:20, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
After a quick review, I agree that you can make those first two changes. The last part is fine as it is, I think. Crystal Talian 16:26, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
Alright, thank you. --FireGambit (talk) 16:46, 12 February 2014 (UTC)

Question

I've had some of my biology rewrites be changed to be refer to the species in general, and you changed my Blitzle edit to be singular. So which should it really be? --FireGambit (talk) 19:58, 13 February 2014 (UTC)

Singular. From our Bulbapedia:Project Pokédex page: "This section should include a full description, including gender and form differences and will be written with singular, gender-neutral pronouns, like in-game Pokédex entries, regardless of gender ratio." Crystal Talian 20:49, 13 February 2014 (UTC)
Thank you. Also, does that mean that my Quilladin rewrite was okay as it was? --FireGambit (talk) 02:07, 14 February 2014 (UTC)
As you can see here Quilladin is actually on the list of Pokemon I haven't checked since the Biology Revamp project. Since I still have to look over the whole thing, I haven't been checking smaller edits. Crystal Talian 02:20, 14 February 2014 (UTC)

Hey, thanks. Do you mean check the grammar and style? I have quite the back up of those to do. I'll get to them as soon as I can. If you're referring to the checklist, I went ahead and checked them off for you. In the future, you're welcome to do that yourself. Just change the first "no" in their rows to a "yes". I'll change second one when I actually do the style check. Crystal Talian 23:43, 14 February 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, I was just asking if I could check them off, haha. Thanks! Also, I did Kricketot and Kricketune, so I'll go mark the first box off for them also. --FireGambit Contribs 00:48, 15 February 2014 (UTC)

Project Pokédex

Hey Crystal! So, as you seem to be the resident expert on Pokémon pages, I have a question to ask: On Pokémon pages, I've seen some pages with a in-between the Pokémon navigation template, while others do not. for example, Koffing has a break template, while Florges doesn't. Which is correct? --FireGambit (talk) 01:29, 2 March 2014 (UTC)

Either is fine. It just depends on whether or not the break is needed. The templates ended up mashing into each other on some pages, and the break was added to prevent that. Crystal Talian 03:40, 2 March 2014 (UTC)
Cool beans. --FireGambit (talk) 00:58, 3 March 2014 (UTC)

"More than on is not notable"

I agree that if two random Pokémon had the same BST, it wouldn't be notable. However, Durant and Heatmor are rivals, like Zangoose and Seviper, so it would be noticable. The Seviper and Zangoose pages do the same thing. They say "Seviper and its rival Zangoose share several characteristics, such as being in the Field Egg Group, residing in the same Friend Area, and being the only two Pokémon with a base stat total of 458 (which is unique to only them)."

Can I re-add it with other similarities, similarly to Zangoose and Seviper? --JoeIsCool (talk) 02:01, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

I can stand by it with additional traits in common, yes. But rivals with the same BST alone isn't particularly notable. If anything, it's expected and not worth noting. Crystal Talian 04:09, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

Eelektrik

For the undo, I think it was fine to be there. It said to show useful info, and that might be considered useful to know, while still being related to the Pokemon topic (btw sorry if I didn't do the talk right, I don't understand it very well) --TheLegitFork (talk) 00:25, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

You did the talkpage just fine, don't worry. Reegarding the Eelektrik edit, it's not so much that the info is harmful, just that it isn't needed. It's not really relevant to the fact that Eelektrik has not weaknesses, and will become progressively more irrelevant as newer generations come out. So is it harmful? No, not at all. But is it needed? No, not really. Overall, it's just simpler to not mention it. Crystal Talian 04:53, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

Okayk, I get what you'e saying. Thanks --TheLegitFork (talk) 20:57, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

Lickitung

I only added that because it also said that on Aipom's Trivia section. I thought it was needed. --PKMNAdventurer (talk) 22:16, 4 July 2014 (UTC)

It's all right. I see it's now been removed from Aipom's page as well. Sometimes, trivia slips through the cracks, so just because its on one page doesn't necessarily mean its needed elsewhere. As a general rule, the ONLY time non-unique trivia is notable is highest stat ties and shared species names. Crystal Talian 04:09, 5 July 2014 (UTC)

trip condulker

he shown to use his weapons just as good of his kind. its is ability not skill unless he was able to do something with it to be different from learning.

ability is to be born with skill is to learn something new like he was able to use it to hit back the stone edge thats a skill --Terryberry94 (talk) 02:03, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

I am well aware of the difference between an ability and a skill, thank you. However, your grammar leaves much to be desired and that was the reason your edit was reverted. I strongly suggest you work on sentence structure as you continue editing. Thanks. Crystal Talian 02:06, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

So why did you put skill not ability Its should be "he able to use his weapons to swing back the stone edge as shown to be improsive skill"--Terryberry94 (talk) 02:09, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

Also I have promblem of speech please don't make fun of me The thing to me when say and type at the same type looks ok to me even though I reread it I'm soory--Terryberry94 (talk) 02:11, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

Because I reverted your edit. I simply restored the page to the way it was before. The additional sentence isn't necessary and as for changing the word skill to ability, well, that could be argued as well. I'm disinclined to use ability here since 1. Ability has a completely separate meaning in the world of Pokemon, and 2. having the weapon and being to use it effectively are two entirely separate things. To say it wields the weapon with skill is more or less the same as pointing out specific example. It's fine the way it is. Also, I am not making fun of you at all, and I'm sorry if you feel that way. I'm just trying to tell you that Bulbapedia prides itself on looking and sounding professional, so we ask that your edits have proper grammar. If we can't understand what you're trying to say or if the thought isn't communicated clearly, we're going to have to undo your edits. Crystal Talian 02:17, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

Its should be "he able to use his weapons to swing back the stone edge as shown to be improsive skill That's the difference since all pokemon has abilities this skill that was shown to reflect the stone edge.

Like ash frokie climbing the rock tomb a skill Ash pikachu combination attacks shown to be great skills I just don't understand what you mean--Terryberry94 (talk) 02:23, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

I just don't feel like that specific example is needed. That's all. A lot of Pokemon can knock attacks back, it happens all the time. I think the sections you're referring to are for combining two moves, which isn't the case for this Pokemon. This conversation is starting to turn circular, though, so we my just have to agree to disagree on it. Crystal Talian 02:30, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

Thanks(?)

Well, actually I had my point, I am new here so I was practicing. That is why I invented the new Pokemon, Banana, which is dual Fire/Grass from Generation X onward. I just wanted to now if could do the same that everyone does. But thank you, I guess, for telling me the purpouse of that section. Kuryn (talk) 06:31, 1 August 2014 (UTC)

You're welcome. However, editing without real purpose such as that creates unnecessary strain on our serves and clutters up the recent changes page. If you want to practice, I suggest making helpful edits pages and using the 'preview' option to make sure your edit turns out correctly before you save it. If you're wanting to create new Pokemon or such, I suggest using our Forums rather than the site itself. Crystal Talian 06:50, 1 August 2014 (UTC)

Attract trivia for Nincada and company

A while ago I noticed trivia points about more than two Pokemon sharing species names and decided to remove them since they weren't unique, but I soon discovered that these are apparently approved "exceptions". In the course of removing those species points, I also removed the Attract trivia on Ferroseed, Ferrothorn, Larvesta, and Volcarona (oddly, I apparently missed/skipped Nincada), but when Force Fire reverted my edits of the species trivia, he reverted more or less everything I had done in that period, including at least one edit where the Attract trivia was all I had removed. I don't know if Force Fire just didn't look closely at all of my edits or if he actually thought the Attract trivia was notable, but perhaps you can discuss it with him and, if it is after all apporpriate, remove the Attract trivia from Ferroseed, Ferrothorn, Larvesta, and Volcarona's pages as you did for Nincada. Tiddlywinks (talk) 09:15, 3 August 2014 (UTC)

As for my spree of reverts, the only reason for those accidental reverts is due to me assuming they are the same edits as I had checked a few of your edits and saw that they all were removing the species trivia. So I assumed they were all the same sort of edits (removal of the species trivia). The summary of "not unique=not notable" really didn't help matters as not all of them were the same piece of trivia. But nonetheless, apologies for the quick assumption.--ForceFire 09:58, 3 August 2014 (UTC)
Last time staff discussed trivia, shared species and highest/lowest stat ties were the only times not being unique was considered notable. More in-depth edit summaries would probably help all parties included, but there's really not a lot of room there for a long winded explanation. But you have the explanation here now, so my apologies for any misunderstandings. Crystal Talian 10:27, 3 August 2014 (UTC)
I understand. Thank you for the resposes. Tiddlywinks (talk) 10:51, 3 August 2014 (UTC)

Leavanny being able to learn Steel Wing

How come Leavanny being able to learn Steel Wing despite not having wings is not notable? Several other Pokémon that lack certain body parts that some attacks would need to have in order to be used are able to learn said moves. Some examples include Gastly with the three elemental punches, Wooper with Ice Punch, Shroomish with Drain Punch and Focus Punch, Alakazam with Iron Tail, Doduo and Dodrio with Fly and Steel Wing (although in Doduo's case, his wings are non-existent), and Elgyem and Beheeyem with Steel Wing. --PKMNAdventurer (talk) 01:56, 27 September 2014 (UTC)

You just pointed out exactly the reason why. It's not uncommon. It's not unique or out of the ordinary, and therefore not notable. Furthermore, it is possible to use other body parts for certain moves, as with using Peck with a horn instead of a beak. 02:17, 27 September 2014 (UTC)

Typically, you just search for the name of the article you want to create. If it doesn't exist, there will be a link there to create it. However, I don't think this needs its own article. It's something that can be added to the existing Pokeblock and/or items pages. Crystal Talian 08:13, 10 December 2014 (UTC)

Stolen information

I haven't checked the other pages on the site, but this[2] article of Clemont from the Heroes Wiki on Wikia is taken almost word-for-word from what we have on our Clemont page. Could someone look into this? AGGRON989 16:14, 3 January 2015 (UTC)

Also, I looked at their pages for Ash and Serena and while they're not identical, the Ash page in particular [3] looks very similar to how ours was before some more recent edits. AGGRON989 16:23, 3 January 2015 (UTC)
Staying at Clemont's page, this appears to be a rather substantial edit.
Thanks for letting us know. I'll make sure to pass this information along to someone who will deal with the stolen content. Crystal Talian 04:49, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
Barret]'s page too has stolen contest before modifications on ours was made. PattyMan 06:17, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

I see by Recent Changes that you and Magnedeth have answered my question. Thanks. =) CycloneGU (talk) 05:21, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
Hyperspace Fury is still missing.
It's a page we're working on getting the information and getting the page made. And you're right, Serebii or any other fansite is not an accepted source under any circumstance. Crystal Talian 05:43, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
Awesome.
Also, I thought the move pages were set as admin. only for the time being.

Moving the page is restricted to admins, to keep it from being mainspaced too soon or moved back without permission. Editing the page is open to all users. Crystal Talian 06:03, 12 January 2015 (UTC)

Oh, move restriction. That makes sense. Cheers. =) CycloneGU (talk) 06:03, 12 January 2015 (UTC)

Edit: I realize that this information is irrelevant anyway, as Frost-Rotom has less weaknesses than Froslass, and Froslass doesn't have more resistances and immunities than weaknesses. You can ignore my previous comment. --Elephant1 (talk) 20:39, 17 February 2015 (UTC)Elephant1

Things Ima Ask

I have asked Force Fire about this, but he suggested to talk will other admins, so i choose you (that sounded like your my Pokemon :P) I realized the code for a Eternal Flower form in Floette's info box is added, but is "unused". Can i change the code so it is shown will all the other flower formes? Another thing is: there are some stuff that haven't had any official confirmation, but still exist in the wiki. Should I make a notice template where it says about it an article containing content that is unofficially revealed? (like Volcanion) Deltamon3 (talk) 22:13, 8 March 2015 (UTC)

never mind the template one, realized about the thing where you do a test template and wait for approval, so just answer the eternal floette question Deltamon3 (talk) 00:41, 9 March 2015 (UTC)
Since we're not sure of a release for that particular Floette, I would leave it out of the template for the time being, personally. Crystal Talian 05:19, 18 March 2015 (UTC)
but Hoopa Unbound is in the infobox and it hasn't been realesed yet. I don't understand that. Deltamon3 (talk) 22:46, 18 March 2015 (UTC)
I am just personally not comfortable adding that Floette form in the template yet. You're welcome to bring it up with another admin or Kogoro, the EiC. Crystal Talian 04:39, 19 March 2015 (UTC)

Voice Actor help

I have a problem. It's Clemont's Luxio I keep trying to find out if Sarah N. Was voiced in the English version but I didn't get her and ForceFire said Luxio's VA is unknown. Could you help figure out if Luxio was really voiced as Sarah or a different actor?Okay I'll make sure of it!--JasonL 00:59, 10 March 2015 (UTC) JasonL (Talk)

I wish I could help you, but the anime is kind of out of my expertise. I suggest talking with Jo the Marten or Kenji-girl. Crystal Talian 05:20, 18 March 2015 (UTC)

My Luvdisc edit

I'm really confused. Why is a citation needed for the edit I made? It happened in an anime side series episode, so doesn't that make it canon? AGGRON989 10:47, 6 May 2015 (UTC)

You need to state that it was in the anime and link to the episode in question. Anything not already on the species page (e.g. in a Pokedex entry) must have a citation. As stated here: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Bulbapedia:Project_Pok%C3%A9dex/Structure . Crystal Talian 04:38, 7 May 2015 (UTC)
All right, thanks! AGGRON989 02:01, 8 May 2015 (UTC)

Edit Vandalism?

I tried to edit the page Pokémon in Serbia since it was full of completely incorrect information and when I was done. When I clicked Save page I got: This action has been automatically identified as harmful, and therefore disallowed. If you believe your action was constructive, please inform an administrator of what you were trying to do. A brief description of the abuse rule which your action matched is: Vandal filter 2 So Administrator could anything be done about this? Tditdatdwt (talk) 12:45, 5 September 2015 (UTC)

The most likely cause is that you tried to remove too much information while not being autoconfirmed yet. I suggest continuing to constructively edit the wiki, and trying again later. Alternately, you can ask me or another admin to make the changes you attempted. Crystal Talian 16:04, 5 September 2015 (UTC)

Kyogre/Groudon trivia

My trivia is true, so why did you revert it? Crunchdog29 (talk) 22:31, 29 October 2015 (UTC)

True doesn't equal notable. Mascots is really too small a group for that kind of trivia. Crystal Talian 22:59, 30 October 2015 (UTC)

Glitch in trivia

Why did you undo it? In Clefairy it was like that before I did all these edits. I just dont understand it: what is not okay with these edits? Lokki (talk) 17:25, 15 November 2015 (UTC)

Mostly, it's just not notable since it's more about the glitch than the Pokemon. If there's something like that on Clefairy's page, I'll go remove it from there as well. Additionally, any time you plan on making that many edits of the same kind, you should really check with a staff member first. Crystal Talian 02:35, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
Ok, thanks! Lokki (talk) 12:39, 17 November 2015 (UTC)

Odd Pokerus

The different time settings may have caused this. Pretty much anytime the game detects a change in time it resets timed events. I'm not 100% sure on that, but that has been my experience. Crystal Talian 13:40, 19 December 2015 (UTC)
I decided to just wait for a few more days with the new time, but it still isn't working, and my Pokemon STILL have Pokerus. Glitch maybe? But I was just wondering, sometimes when I hatch eggs I put my team with Pokerus into the PC so I could hatch eggs. But I always put my team back before midnight. When a Pokemon with Pokerus is inserted into the PC, does it reset? I'm sorry for taking up your time with my worries, but I really hate the thought of having a glitch in my game. If you could maybe help me with this problem, them thank you so much!Leafeon6954 (talk) 19:37, 26 December 2015 (UTC)
Very sorry for the late reply, especially when I'm not about to be very helpful. I'm afraid I just don't know what's going on with your game. I'm not exactly an expert on glitches. I suggest looking for help in the forums if your problem hasn't been solved yet. Crystal Talian 01:04, 8 March 2016 (UTC)

Userspace

How many edits to you have to make to get the userspace? (Note, sorry if I didn't use the talk page right, first time doing it on Bulbapedia) DeinoVulpixfan18 19:33 20th March 2016 (UK time zone) (DeinoVulpixfan18 19:34, 20 March 2016 (UTC))

It's a hidden number that even I don't know the answer to. You should focus on making good edits and not worry about your userspace. Good luck! Crystal Talian 00:51, 21 March 2016 (UTC)

Paᗧ•••ck 16:12, 16 April 2016 (UTC)

I'm not against condensing the information that was there. Crystal Talian 00:01, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
I have a first edit of the draft on my userpage. It has now been reduced to four paragraphs and 426 words (it was previously 738). For the sake of comparison, the current origin page is 403 words and six paragraphs. Paᗧ•••ck 23:03, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
I'd like to join this game ( =P ). User:Tiddlywinks/Zygarde origin.
I've mostly put an introductory paragraph at the beginning to frontload the connection of Fenrir/Jormungandr/Hel being Loki's children; there's just no good way to spread that across the individual paragraphs for the three Formes without making the connection more difficult to pick out than it probably should be.
Pacack, I took some cues and left some out from the version on your page. The one thing I'd most like to comment on is, I don't know where you get that Helreginn was "gargantuan". (I just can't really find much, and nothing (halfway reliable) that says that.) Tiddlywinks (talk) 23:57, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
I do prefer Tiddlywinks' version, personally. Crystal Talian 01:03, 18 April 2016 (UTC)
I've edited the Origin with the suggested additions. Feel free to fix any mistakes I've overlooked or whatnot. Tiddlywinks (talk) 01:25, 18 April 2016 (UTC)

It looks good to me. Crystal Talian 01:50, 18 April 2016 (UTC)

Regarding Helreginn, she is a Jötunn, also known as the "Frost Giants" in Norse Mythos.
Otherwise, the only criticism I have is that the sentences flow a little choppily, which is something that's easily fixed with some transition words. Paᗧ•••ck 04:00, 18 April 2016 (UTC)

Template:Pokémon Infobox and the Undiscovered egg group

Hi, I discovered the the infobox has the egggroupn parameter for specifying the number of egg groups a Pokemon is in.

I would also like to further suggest a change to the existing template. The new code is in User:Chenzw/Pokémon Infobox Test, which adds a new parameter (currently named flipname) to correct for cases where the forme name goes after the species name (Zygarde, Hoopa). If a non-blank value is passed to flipname, the image caption and alt text will be rendered as <species name> <forme name>, instead of the old <forme name> <species name>.
Adding another #if is not the best idea. I've gone ahead and noted a couple updates that are needed on the infobox's talk page where hopefully they'll be easy to find/remember. Right now, Chenzw, I can tell you that changing that template is not a trivial matter. I'm not sure when we might get to it, but we are mostly aware of the issue. Tiddlywinks (talk) 03:55, 18 April 2016 (UTC)
Oh... an override parameter is indeed more lightweight :P In the meantime, are you able to answer my previous question about egggroupn, or should I move it to the template's talk page instead? Chenzw (talk) 04:46, 18 April 2016 (UTC)
I guess there's not really any dramatic change happening just by setting egggroupn=0, so I think that should be fine. Only for actual Legendaries and stuff (Unown, I guess), though. If they have relatives that can produce an Egg (like the baby 'mons or Nidos), then they shouldn't have that note. Tiddlywinks (talk) 05:06, 18 April 2016 (UTC)

About Mienshao

There's a couple of problems. Crystal Talian 12:22, 8 May 2016 (UTC)
This episode isn't on Wikipedia but I can give you some other links about this and about the Purple robe:
http://tinyurl.com/htymfho
http://tinyurl.com/h5hqkjl
http://tinyurl.com/hl8ckhu
http://tinyurl.com/3mb3g53
http://tinyurl.com/hrbsjov
If you got any other reasons for it being purple I'd love to hear it. ExLight (talk) 13:39, 8 May 2016 (UTC)
I'm still not entirely convinced. As for other reasons it could be purple, just looking at the wikipedia article for the color purple will give you a couple of reasons, aside from the possibility of it simply being the color the creators picked.
 • In China, purple represents spiritual awareness, physical and mental healing, strength and abundance.
 • In Japan, purple is the color of privilege and wealth, the color associated with the Japanese aristocracy.

Crystal Talian 14:28, 8 May 2016 (UTC)

I see. Well, I do understand your point and I don't really have any concrete evidence to back me up, do I?
Anyway, thanks for hearing me out, I really like to search into possible origins for Pokémon so it's kinda nice when people take their time to listen to it.
