Shadow Ball is Mewtwo's standard special move in Super Smash Bros. Melee. It is chargeable and moves in a zigzag fashion. Lucario, who debuted in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, uses Aura Sphere, which functions similarly.
Shadow Ball inflicts damage and may lower the enemy's Special Defense by one stage.

Super Smash Bros. series
Shadow Ball is Mewtwo's standard special move. It is chargeable and moves in a zigzag fashion. Mewtwo holds its hands the same way it does in Mewtwo Strikes Back when forming a Shadow Ball, but the ball itself has a unique design. The blue color of the ball resembles how it looks in Gold. In Super Smash Bros. Melee, while Mewtwo charges, any enemy that touches the charging Shadow Ball gets damaged. This was changed in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U, where it no longer can damage opponents while charging. Mewtwo also uses Shadow Ball on its opponent when throwing them Forward throw.

Lucario, who debuted in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, uses Aura Sphere, which functions similarly.

Pokémon Conquest
Pokémon Conquest
Shadow Ball is the only move of Gengar, Drifblim, Mismagius, and Dusknoir.

UNITE
In Pokémon UNITE, Shadow Ball is Gengar's and Hoopa's first move.

Gengar can obtain the move by reaching level 7 as Haunter and upgrading Will-O-Wisp into it instead of Sludge Bomb. The user hurls a shadowy ball forward in a line – damaging, slowing, and reducing the Special Defense of enemies hit. This ball pierces through wild Pokémon. At level 13, its damage increases.

Hoopa can obtain the move by upgrading Astonish at level 6 into it instead of Phantom Force. The move has the user unleash a shadowy blob in front of itself, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon it hits and decreasing their movement speed and Sp. Def for a short time. If the user then hits the same opposing Pokémon with a move or boosted attack within a set amount of time, it deals additional damage to the opposing Pokémon and leaves them unable to act for a short time. When using this move, if there is a nearby ally Pokémon linked by Trick, this move will also unleash a shadowy blob at the same target from that ally’s location. At level 12, the shadowy blob will now explode before it disappears. Opposing Pokémon hit by the explosion are affected as if they were hit by the shadowy blob itself. In Unbound form, this move is replaced by Hyperspace Fury.

With some exceptions, Pokémon learnsets match those from the core series games:

Super Smash Bros. series

Shadow Ball is Mewtwo's standard special move. It is chargeable and moves in a zigzag fashion. Mewtwo holds its hands the same way it does in Mewtwo Strikes Back when forming a Shadow Ball, but the ball itself has a unique design. The blue color of the ball resembles how it looks in Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal. In Super Smash Bros. Melee, while Mewtwo charges, any enemy that touches the charging Shadow Ball gets damaged. This was changed in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U, where it no longer can damage opponents while charging. Mewtwo also uses Shadow Ball on its opponent when throwing them forwards.

Lucario, who debuted in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, uses Aura Sphere, which functions similarly.

Pokémon UNITE
