The episode begins with our heroes come to a river, in which {{AP|Pikachu}} and {{TP|Clemont|Dedenne}} immediately jump in. The heroes send all their Pokémon to join the fun. Dedenne approaches {{AP|Goomy}}, who is still scared of it. {{an|Clemont}} suspects there is more than just weakness to Fairy-type Pokémon. Still, they all have fun and swim in the river. Suddenly, {{TRT}} appears in their balloon and throw a net, catching everyone but Pikachu, {{TP|Serena|Pancham}} and {{TP|Clemont|Chespin}}. Pikachu uses {{m|Thunderbolt}}, but is countered by {{TP|James|Inkay}}'s {{m|Psybeam}}. Chespin uses {{m|Pin Missile}}, but is countered by {{TP|Jessie|Wobbuffet}}. Inkay repeats Psybeam, which hits the river. This causes a bunch of {{p|Lotad}} and {{P|Lombre}} to be angry, as they start attacking everything around. This hits the net, freeing the Pokémon. This also hits the balloon, causing {{TRM}} to fall into the river, while [[Jessie]] and [[James]] blast off.
Continuing their journey to [[Coumarine City]], {{Ash}} and {{ashfr}} stop at the lake for some relaxation. They send out all of their Pokémon to join in. Ash introduces his newly caught {{AP|Goomy}} to the other Pokémon as they all greet it. {{TP|Clemont|Dedenne}} tries to walk up to Goomy, but it hides behind as {{an|Clemont}} states that {{type|Dragon}} are weak against {{type|Fairy}}. {{an|Bonnie}} is sure that Goomy will be friends with Dedenne soon.


Everyone escapes from the Lotad and Lombre. Soon, {{an|Bonnie}} and {{an|Serena}} realize they got separated from Ash and Clemont. Bonnie is shocked to see Meowth with them. Meowth takes the responsibility, claiming he attacked them. He thinks he may be able to foil these twerps until James and Jessie arrive, allowing them to catch Pikachu and other Pokémon. Bonnie is skeptical of Meowth's words, but they head out to find Ash and Clemont. Ash and Clemont see Serena and Bonnie are gone as well. They call Chespin, {{TP|Clemont|Luxio}}, {{AP|Hawlucha}} and {{AP|Frogadier}} back. While {{AP|Fletchinder}} tries to search for the girls, Ash, Clemont, Pikachu and {{TP|Serena|Fennekin}} go away. As Serena, Bonnie and Meowth travel, Goomy falls off Pancham's head. They think it is hungry, so Bonnie and Dedenne find some leaves, though Goomy is still scared of Dedenne. Serena and Bonnie wish those two become friends soon.

Not letting them get away, Ash tells Pikachu to use {{m|Thunderbolt}}, but [[James]] sends out {{TP|James|Inkay}} to block with {{m|Psybeam}}. Clemont helps out by telling Chespin to use {{m|Pin Missile}}, but [[Jessie]] sends {{TP|Jessie|Wobbuffet}} to block with {{m|Mirror Coat}} sending the pins on the river. James tells Inkay to use Psybeam again, causing the river to move in waves. Some lily pads move, revealing {{p|Lotad}} and {{p|Lombre}}.


Ash and Clemont try to find Serena and Bonnie. Pikachu has an idea and releases electricity, which should reach Dedenne. Dedenne feels the jolt and knows where Pikachu is. Meowth realizes the twerps may reunite, foiling his plan. He touches Dedenne and gets zapped. Bonnie wonders what he is doing, so Meowth replies he can translate electricity, too. He points at a path, so they head out. Ash and Clemont arrive, but see Serena and Bonnie are not here, confusing Pikachu. Goomy chews Pancham's sunglasses and its ears, making it displeased. Meowth translates this, making Bonnie wonder how can he speak human language. Meowth starts the story, but Bonnie is not interested. Team Rocket appear, pleasing Meowth they arrived.
Annoyed, the Lotad and Lombre attack Team Rocket and send them blasting off again. While running away, {{an|Serena}}, Dedenne, Goomy, Pancham and Bonnie get separated from Ash, Fennekin, Pikachu and Clemont. {{MTR}} gets separated from Jessie and James, meeting up with Bonnie and Serena. Ash sends out his {{AP|Fletchinder}} to look for the others.


Meowth tells them they were idiots for trusting him. Serena attempts to fight back, though Team Rocket is certain they will win, for Pikachu is not around. Pancham places Goomy on a rock, preparing itself for battle. {{TP|Jessie|Pumpkaboo}} starts with {{m|Shadow Ball}}, which Pancham dodges, but gets hit by Psybeam. Pancham retaliates with {{m|Stone Edge}}. Pumpkaboo uses {{m|Dark Pulse}} and misses, though Inkay {{m|Tackle}}s Pancham. Pancham gets hit by Shadow Ball, while Goomy observes and is frightened of the past, being reminded by this battle. Pancham uses Dark Pulse, hitting Inkay, who retaliates with Psybeam, confusing Pancham. Dedenne zaps Pancham, causing it to recover and teams up with it. Pumpkaboo uses Dark Pulse, so Pancham dodges, while Goomy remembers {{p|Ariados}} attacking it and goes away.
Meowth is able to trick Serena and Bonnie by acting good before being evil once more. Bonnie, however, is able to see through the ruse. Meanwhile, Pikachu and Dedenne try to use the electricity from their cheeks to try and find each other. Meowth decides to touch Dedenne's cheeks, but ends up getting electrocuted, much to the delight of Bonnie and Serena. Goomy begins to nibble on Pancham's ear and sunglasses. Pancham gets annoyed and Meowth translates Pancham's words for Bonnie and Serena.


Dedenne uses {{m|Thunder Shock}}, hitting Pumpkaboo. Pancham uses {{m|Arm Thrust}} on Inkay, while Dedenne Tackles it. Pancham uses Stone Edge on Pumpkaboo, followed by Dedenne's {{m||Nuzzle}}. Using Dark Pulse, Pancham blasts Team Rocket off. Serena and Bonnie realize Goomy walked away, so Dedenne finds its slimy tracks and goes after it. They find it slipped underground, so Dedenne goes in. Due to cramped space, it uses Thundershock, blasting the path away. As Team Rocket tries to make a new plan, Jessie is startled by Goomy, who came out of the rocks. She throws it away at James, who throws it back at her. Fletchinder, however, finds Serena and Bonnie and reports to Ash and Clemont, who soon find them.
Soon, Inkay appears and Meowth reunites with Jessie and James. Jessie is not happy with Meowth, addressing him as a "little scamp" and demanding to know where he had been. While Pumpkaboo, Pancham and Dedenne battle Team Rocket, Goomy flashes back to the destruction of its former home before sliding away. Dedenne goes down a hole to find Goomy, but it actually doesn't go down the hole, and gets spotted by Team Rocket. Jessie is unable to handle Goomy, and in the process, Fletchinder spots everyone. Ash and Clemont, along with Pikachu, Chespin and Fennekin, reunite with the rest of the gang. Serena hugs Fennekin, overjoyed to have her beloved Pokémon back.


They report Goomy got lost when they were fighting Team Rocket. Fletchinder flies off, trying to find Goomy. Meanwhile, Jessie binds Goomy, while James finds out Goomy may evolve into Goodra. They decide to keep Goomy and Jessie tries to cuff Goomy, who slips away. Pumpkaboo uses Shadow Ball on Goomy, who uses Rain Dance at Jessie. Jessie is displeased, for her hair is ruined. Pumpkaboo uses Shadow Ball, though Dedenne appears, countering the attack. Inkay tackles Dedenne, who uses Thundershock. Wobbuffet takes the hit and retaliates with {{m|Mirror Coat}}, hitting Dedenne back. Jessie throws another cuff to bind Goomy, though Dedenne knocks that away. Pumpkaboo uses Shadow Ball, but Dedenne takes the hit. Inkay tackles Dedenne, who does not give up, making Goomy admire Dedenne.
Meanwhile, Jessie has Goomy pinned down and James is looking at its final evolved form, {{p|Goodra}} on his computer. Goomy tries to get away and Jessie has Pumpkaboo use {{m|Shadow Ball}} on it. The attack is stopped by Dedenne, who shields Goomy. Goomy, seeing Dedenne fight for it, begins to lose its fear over the Antennae Pokémon. As it had done before, Goomy uses Rain Dance on Jessie. Bunnelby defeats Pumpkaboo with {{m|Mud Shot}} before Ash calls for the grand finale, instructing Pikachu to use Thunderbolt. Team Rocket is sent blasting off again.

With a Thunderbolt from Pikachu, Team Rocket is blasted off again. Bonnie picks Dedenne, who has been injured from Team Rocket's atacks. Soon, Clemont heals Dedenne, who stands up and its ear chewed by Goomy. The heroes are surprised Goomy is now fine with Dedenne around. Dedenne is pleased and shocks Goomy, symbolizing their new friendship.

One for the Goomy! (Japanese: デデンネがんばる！ヌメラのために！！ Do Your Best, Dedenne! Do it for Numera!!) is the 56th episode of Pokémon the Series: XY, and the 855th episode of the Pokémon animated series. It first aired in Japan on January 15, 2015 and in the United States on March 28, 2015.

Blurb

When our heroes take a break on the way to Coumarine City, Team Rocket attacks! Everyone is separated in the chaos, leaving Meowth stranded with Serena and Bonnie (and Ash’s Goomy). While pretending to help, Meowth leads the group straight to Jessie and James! Serena and Pancham step up to take them on, and with the help of Bonnie and Dedenne, they’re victorious. But during the battle, Goomy gets frightened and goes off to hide.

Dedenne follows Goomy’s slimy trail through a rocky tunnel—and discovers the little Dragon-type Pokémon facing off against Team Rocket on the other side! Dedenne immediately leaps into the battle, protecting Goomy until it can no longer stand, and then Goomy finds its courage and stands up for Dedenne. Just when it looks like the two are about to fall into the villains’ clutches, our heroes show up to send Team Rocket blasting off once more. The new friendship between Dedenne and Goomy is cause for celebration, as the journey continues!

Plot

Continuing their journey to Coumarine City, Ash and his friends stop at the lake for some relaxation. They send out all of their Pokémon to join in. Ash introduces his newly caught Goomy to the other Pokémon as they all greet it. Dedenne tries to walk up to Goomy, but it hides behind as Clemont states that Dragon-type are weak against Fairy-type. Bonnie is sure that Goomy will be friends with Dedenne soon.

As everyone is having a good time by the lake, Team Rocket shows up in their balloon and releases a net catching everyone, but not Pikachu, Chespin, and Pancham. After the motto, the heroes see their foes getting away with the Pokémon. Not letting them get away, Ash tells Pikachu to use Thunderbolt, but James sends out Inkay to block with Psybeam. Clemont helps out by telling Chespin to use Pin Missile, but Jessie sends Wobbuffet to block with Mirror Coat sending the pins on the river. James tells Inkay to use Psybeam again, causing the river to move in waves. Some lily pads move, revealing Lotad and Lombre.

Annoyed, the Lotad and Lombre attack Team Rocket and send them blasting off again. While running away, Serena, Dedenne, Goomy, Pancham and Bonnie get separated from Ash, Fennekin, Pikachu and Clemont. Meowth gets separated from Jessie and James, meeting up with Bonnie and Serena. Ash sends out his Fletchinder to look for the others.

Meowth is able to trick Serena and Bonnie by acting good before being evil once more. Bonnie, however, is able to see through the ruse. Meanwhile, Pikachu and Dedenne try to use the electricity from their cheeks to try and find each other. Meowth decides to touch Dedenne's cheeks, but ends up getting electrocuted, much to the delight of Bonnie and Serena. Goomy begins to nibble on Pancham's ear and sunglasses. Pancham gets annoyed and Meowth translates Pancham's words for Bonnie and Serena.

Soon, Inkay appears and Meowth reunites with Jessie and James. Jessie is not happy with Meowth, addressing him as a "little scamp" and demanding to know where he had been. While Pumpkaboo, Pancham and Dedenne battle Team Rocket, Goomy flashes back to the destruction of its former home before sliding away. Dedenne goes down a hole to find Goomy, but it actually doesn't go down the hole, and gets spotted by Team Rocket. Jessie is unable to handle Goomy, and in the process, Fletchinder spots everyone. Ash and Clemont, along with Pikachu, Chespin and Fennekin, reunite with the rest of the gang. Serena hugs Fennekin, overjoyed to have her beloved Pokémon back.

Meanwhile, Jessie has Goomy pinned down and James is looking at its final evolved form, Goodra on his computer. Goomy tries to get away and Jessie has Pumpkaboo use Shadow Ball on it. The attack is stopped by Dedenne, who shields Goomy. Goomy, seeing Dedenne fight for it, begins to lose its fear over the Antennae Pokémon. As it had done before, Goomy uses Rain Dance on Jessie. Bunnelby defeats Pumpkaboo with Mud Shot before Ash calls for the grand finale, instructing Pikachu to use Thunderbolt. Team Rocket is sent blasting off again.

Ash and his friends then walk on to Coumarine City, with Dedenne and Goomy now being friends.

  • When Ash is showing the other Pokémon his newly captured Goomy, the muzzle on Serena's Fennekin is yellow instead of white.
  • When the Pokémon are falling out of Team Rocket's net, Fennekin's nose is colored white instead of black.
    • In the next frame, Hawlucha's feet are colored white instead of yellow.
  • Between escaping from the rampaging Lotad and Lombre and finding Dedenne protecting Goomy from Team Rocket, Bunnelby disappears.
  • When Pancham starts complaining about Goomy nibbling its ear, Pancham's mouth doesn't move at first, yet it is still making a sound.
  • When Dedenne is waking up and sees Goomy, its body is completely colored light-purple.
  • When Ash, Clemont, Pikachu, and Fennekin move out, Fennekin makes a noise but her mouth doesn't open.
