Café
Café
In the northern part of town is a café the player pays to enter. Daily, patrons inside will show off a Pokémon that is indexed by the Pokédex if previously unseen. More Pokémon may be seen depending on where the player chooses to sit, including Legendary Pokémon. If the player has seen every Pokémon available inside the Café, the waiter will comment and ask if they are sure about paying to come in. If the player decides not to enter, the waiter will tell the player  that he will make the Café into something they will love by their next visit.

Similar cafés can be found in Cyllage City and Laverre City.

Every day, when the game time reaches 8 PM, the rings of the sundial start to spin one by one as the sun shines through the hole in the crystal.  Falling sparkles from the sky also make it look like it's snowing both around the sundial and in the town itself.  The sparkles stop after ten minutes, and the rings themselves stop spinning one by one just after 9 PM.

In the post-game, after the player defeats Serena or Calem at Kiloude City, the player learns that Professor Sycamore is waiting at the sundial with information on the Mega Ring (he will not appear until the rival is defeated). At the sundial, Professor Sycamore tells the player that he has discovered a way to level up the Mega Ring. He tells the player to touch the sundial with the Mega Ring; after doing so, he reveals that the Mega Ring will now resonate with Mega Stones that are underground.  He explains that you can only find those Mega Stones while the sundial is active between 8 and 9 PM; it will not work at any other time.

Old man's house
Old man's house
In the house two spots north of the boutique, an old man can be found depressed because of the death of his wife. He will ask the player to lend him any Pokémon level 5 or under to keep him company for the time being. After defeating the Elite Four, the player can return to the house only to find that the old man has passed away and left behind a Poké Ball containing the Pokémon lent to him, a letter thanking the player for their helping him in his last moments, and a Valuable item. However, if the player has a full team, they cannot take the Pokémon back until an open spot is made. Also, if the player has already defeated the Elite Four, they will need to do it again in order to receive the Comet Shard.

In addition, the returned Pokémon will have max number of Affection hearts in Pokémon-Amie (unless Pokémon-Amie has never been used). ===Memory Girl===
Memory Girl
Line 50: Line 54:
Next to the entrance of the Pokémon Center is the Memory Girl, a girl who can read the memories of experiences a Pokémon had with its Original Trainer (and its most recent owner if it was traded), as well as how the Pokémon felt about the experience. These memories range from meeting the Trainer for the first time, defeating wild Pokémon or Gym Leaders, using HMs outside of battle, exploring various locations, evolving, etc. A Pokémon's memory may change over time as it has new experiences with its Trainer.

In the anime, Anistar City was first shown in Rivals: Today and Tomorrow! on Serena's Town Map. Ash and ashfr arrived there in Tag Team Battle Inspiration! along with Shauna and Tierno.

Ash and ashfr will arrive in Anistar City in XY090 where Serena will compete in the Anistar City Pokémon Showcase.
A Pokémon Showcase Rookie Class was held in Anistar City in A Performance Pop Quiz!. Serena entered the competition together with Shauna, Jessie, and Nini. During the first round, which had a quiz about Pokémon as its theme, Serena was placed in the same group as Nini and Lily. She was the first Performer in her group to answer three questions correctly and, as a result, was granted a place in the Freestyle Performance. After the misunderstanding had been cleared, Ash and his friends, followed Olympia to the Anistar Gym, where she told the group about her visions about a future crisis for Kalos and a unique power for Ash's Frogadier. In the next episode, Ash had his Gym battle with Olympia and won, earning himself the Psychic. Afterwards the group left Anistar City.

Anistar City was seen again in Championing a Research Battle!, where Olympia informed Diantha about the upcoming threat to Kalos.

In Rocking Kalos Defenses! and Forming a More Perfect Union!, the Giant Rock, controlled by Lysandre, was heading from Lysandre Labs to Anistar City. Location of Anistar City in Kalos.

Anistar City (Japanese: ヒャッコクシティ Hyakkoku City) is a city located in the Kalos region.

Slogan

The starry city marking the hours. (Japanese: 星巡る 時告げの 街 The starry timekeeping city.)

Places of interest

Anistar Gym

Main article: Anistar Gym

The Anistar Gym is the official Gym of Anistar City, whose Gym Leader is Olympia and specializes in Psychic-type Pokémon.

Hidden Power Checker

After providing the player TM10 (Hidden Power), a man in the house next to the boutique will tell the player what type Hidden Power will act as for any Pokémon he is shown, provided that it can learn the move by TM.

Sundial

The Sundial to the north of the city is used in the post-game to upgrade the Mega Ring. This also allows the player to find the Mega Stones hidden throughout Kalos.

Every day, when the game time reaches 8 PM, the rings of the sundial start to spin one by one as the sun shines through the hole in the crystal. Falling sparkles from the sky also make it look like it's snowing both around the sundial and in the town itself. The sparkles stop after ten minutes, and the rings themselves stop spinning one by one just after 9 p.m.

He explains that those Mega Stones can only be found while the sundial is active between 8 and 9 PM; it will not work at any other time.

Old man's house

In the house two spots north of the boutique, an old man can be found depressed because of the death of his wife. He will ask the player to lend him any Pokémon level 5 or under to keep him company for the time being. After leaving behind a Pokémon then entering the Hall of Fame, the player can return to the house only to find that the old man has passed away and left behind a Poké Ball containing the Pokémon lent to him, a letter thanking the player for their helping him in his last moments, and a Comet Shard. In addition, the returned Pokémon will have max number of Affection hearts in Pokémon-Amie (unless Pokémon-Amie has never been used). However, if the player has a full team, they cannot take the Pokémon back until an open spot is made.

Memory Girl

Main article: Memory Girl

Next to the entrance of the Pokémon Center is the Memory Girl, a girl who can read the memories of experiences a Pokémon had with its Original Trainer (and its most recent owner if it was traded), as well as how the Pokémon felt about the experience. These memories range from meeting the Trainer for the first time, defeating wild Pokémon or Gym Leaders, using HMs outside of battle, exploring various locations, evolving, etc. A Pokémon's memory may change over time as it has new experiences with its Trainer.

Photo Spot

A Photo Spot can be found to the right of the sundial, where the player can get their picture taken by Phil the Photo Guy in front of the sundial.

Anistar City in the anime

In the anime, Anistar City was first shown in Rivals: Today and Tomorrow! on Serena's Town Map. Ash and his friends arrived there in Tag Team Battle Inspiration! along with Shauna and Tierno.

Shauna and Jessie also managed to give the correct answers to Pierre's questions, thus advancing to the second round as well.

In the Freestyle Performance, Serena delivered a performance along with her Braixen and Pancham, Shauna performed with her Ivysaur and Flabébé, and Jessie used her Gourgeist to try and dazzle the crowd. At the conclusion of the round, the audience members used their Glow Casters to vote on the performance they enjoyed the most. After the voting was over, it was revealed that Serena was the Performer who received the highest number of votes, thus winning the Anistar Showcase and earning her second Princess Key.

In Cloudy Fate, Bright Future!, Ash and his friends met up with Professor Sycamore again, who was researching the Anistar Sundial in relation to Mega Evolution. They were attacked by one of Olympia's apprentices, Carrie, who had misinterpreted one of Olympia's visions that featured them all. After the misunderstanding had been cleared, Ash and his friends, followed Olympia to the Anistar Gym, where she told the group about her visions about a future crisis for Kalos and a unique power for Ash's Frogadier. In the next episode, Ash had his Gym battle with Olympia and won, earning himself the Psychic Badge.

Ash and his friends followed the Giant Rock to prevent it from having contact with the Sundial, which would cause the whole world to be wiped out if they merged. However, Ash and friends along with all the Kalos Gym Leaders helped stop Lysandre along with Zygarde Complete Forme, which in turn destroyed the Giant Rock, protecting the Sundial, which saved also the entire Kalos region as well.

X & Y arc

The Anistar City sundial first appeared in Connecting with Gardevoir in Korrina's flashback to when she searched for the Mega Stone for her Lucario.

The city itself debuted in Hawlucha Attacks when X and his friends traveled there under the request of Professor Sycamore. Upon arriving, they saved Sycamore from a swarm of Hawlucha sent to attack him by Essentia, after which he used the sundial to power up X and Y's Mega Rings, allowing them to search for Mega Stones anywhere between 8 PM to 9 PM.

In Pinsir Changes, Y's Xerneas was stolen by Essentia, forcing X and Y to battle her in order to take it back, while Shauna and Tierno left to search for Mega Stones for X's Pinsir and Y's Absol. Once they returned, X and Y Mega Evolved their Pokémon to fight Essentia and Xerneas. Soon afterwards, Zygarde arrived and interrupted the battle, but was captured by Essentia shortly after it attacked. Though Essentia escaped with Zygarde, Xerneas was returned to Y's control.

Trivia

 • Anistar City has similarities with Mossdeep City in Hoenn. Both are where the seventh Gyms of their regions are located, both have Gym Leaders who specialize in Psychic-types and give TM04 (Calm Mind) when defeated, and both have a connection with outer space.
