Northern Desert (Japanese: きたのさばく Northern Desert) is the 14th dungeon in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky located in the Arid Area. It is unlocked after the player returns the Water Float to Azurill and Marill and goes back to the guild.

Before clearing Quicksand Cave or after the credits roll, when this dungeon is cleared again, the player can choose to continue exploring in Quicksand Cave.

Gameplay

The jobs in this dungeon are ranked E, B, A and S by default, depending on the floor.

The first four floors are small-sized, the others are medium-sized. The first four floors can have 2 to 6 rooms (although floor 3 and 4 are biased towards higher number), while rest of the floors have 4-9 rooms. There's 1-4 items lying on each floor, mostly Poké. There's 1-2 starting enemies on first two floors, 2-3 on floors 3 and 4, and 2-4 on remaining floors.

The IQ Booster activates on even floors past 2nd. The turn limit is 1000. The enemies in this dungeon have 26IQ, granting them the Status Checker IQ skill. There's natural sandstorm on floors 6, 10 and 11 (with all of the dungeon's inhabitants except for Carnivine being immune to it by either typing or Ability), although it can also appear by Larvitar using the move.
