Generations VI to VII
Grassy Terrain creates terrain that envelops the field and replaces the background environment and any other terrain that is already in effect. The terrain fades after five turns.

This terrain has the following effects on Pokémon that are on the ground and not in the Moves with a semi-invulnerable turn of a move.
This terrain has the following effects on Pokémon that are on the ground and not in the semi-invulnerable turn of a move.
*At the end of each turn, the terrain restores the HP of each affected Pokémon by 1/16 of its maximum HP.
* It boosts the power of Grass moves used by affected Pokémon by 50% (regardless of whether the target of the move is affected by Grassy Terrain).
*It boosts the power of Grass moves used by affected Pokémon by 50% (regardless of whether the target of the move is affected by Grassy Terrain).
* At the end of each turn, the terrain restores the HP of each affected Pokémon by 1/16 of its maximum HP.
* Causes Floral Healing to restore up to ⅔ of the target's maximum HP instead of the usual ½.
* The power of Bulldoze, Earthquake, and Magnitude is halved against affected targets (regardless of whether the user of the move is affected by Grassy Terrain).
* Nature Power becomes Energy Ball.
* Secret Power uses the animation of Vine Whip and has a 30% chance of causing the target to sleep.
* Camouflage causes the user to become Grass.

If Grassy Terrain is in effect, unless the target is in the Moves with a semi-invulnerable turn of a move such as Dig or Dive, the power of Bulldoze, Earthquake, and Magnitude is halved (even if the user or the target is not grounded).
Natural objects disappear and cannot be destroyed while Grassy Terrain is in effect.

If Grassy Terrain is in effect, Nature Power becomes Energy Ball, Secret Power uses the animation of Vine Whip and may cause sleep, and Camouflage causes the user to become Grass. Natural objects disappear and cannot be destroyed while Grassy Terrain is in effect.
When a Pokémon with the Ability Grassy Surge enters battle, Grassy Terrain is automatically created. When a Pokémon with the Ability Grass Pelt enters battle, its Defense stat is boosted by 50%.

Grassy Terrain also activates the Ability Grass Pelt.
If a Terrain Extender is held when Grassy Terrain is used, the terrain will last 8 turns instead of 5. If a Pokémon is holding a Grassy Seed while the field is Grassy Terrain, it consumes the Grassy Seed and its Defense is increased by one stage (even if it is not otherwise affected by the terrain).

If a Pokémon is holding a Grassy Seed while the field is Grassy Terrain, it consumes the Grassy Seed and its Defense is increased by one stage (even if it is not otherwise affected by the terrain).
If powered up by a Grassium Z into Z-Grassy Terrain, the user's Defense stat rises by one stage.

If a Terrain Extender is held when Grassy Terrain is used, the terrain will last 8 turns instead of 5.
Generation VIII onwards
Grassy Terrain now:
When a Pokémon with the Ability Grassy Surge enters battle, Grassy Terrain is automatically created which lasts for 5 turns (8 if the Pokémon holds a Terrain Extender).
*Boosts the power of Grass moves used by affected Pokémon by 30% instead of the previous 50%.

*Changes Terrain Pulse's type to Grass and doubles its base power from 50 to 100.
When powered up by a Z-Crystal into Z-Grassy Terrain, the user's Defense stat rises by one stage.
*Increases Grassy Glide's priority by one.
*Changes Pokémon with Mimicry to Grass.
Grassy Terrain is automatically created when Max Overgrowth is used or when a Pokémon with Seed Sower is hit by an attack.

Notes:
* Prior to version 2.42.0, the sync pair could also use the move Grassy Terrain. However, in version 2.42.0, their move Grassy Terrain was replaced with Grass Wish, likely because Leafeon cannot learn this move in the core series games.

Grassy Terrain (Japanese: グラスフィールド Grass Field) is a non-damaging Grass-type move introduced in Generation VI. It was TM88 in Pokémon Sword and Shield, and is TM137 in Generation IX.

Effect

Generations VI to VII

Grassy Terrain creates terrain that envelops the field and replaces the background environment and any other terrain that is already in effect. The terrain fades after five turns.

This terrain has the following effects on Pokémon that are on the ground and not in the semi-invulnerable turn of a move.

 • It boosts the power of Grass-type moves used by affected Pokémon by 50% (regardless of whether the target of the move is affected by Grassy Terrain).
 • At the end of each turn, the terrain restores the HP of each affected Pokémon by 1/16 of its maximum HP.
 • Causes Floral Healing to restore up to ⅔ of the target's maximum HP instead of the usual ½.
 • The power of Bulldoze, Earthquake, and Magnitude is halved against affected targets (regardless of whether the user of the move is affected by Grassy Terrain).
 • Nature Power becomes Energy Ball.
 • Secret Power uses the animation of Vine Whip and has a 30% chance of causing the target to sleep.
 • Camouflage causes the user to become Grass-type.

If powered up by a Grassium Z into Z-Grassy Terrain, the user's Defense stat rises by one stage.

Generation VIII onwards

Grassy Terrain now:

Grassy Terrain is automatically created when Max Overgrowth is used or when a Pokémon with Seed Sower is hit by an attack.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series

Grassy Terrain changes the dungeon status to Grassy Terrain which speeds up natural HP recovery (to 1.5% per turn), boosts the power of Grass-type moves by 50%, and reduces the damage taken from Earthquake, Bulldoze and Magnitude. This only affects Pokémon on the ground and cannot coexist with other terrains. Grassy Terrain lasts for 10 turns

Notes:

 • Prior to version 2.42.0, the sync pair Scottie/Bettie & LeafeonEgg could also use the move Grassy Terrain. However, in version 2.42.0, their move Grassy Terrain was replaced with Grass Wish, likely because Leafeon cannot learn this move in the core series games.

Description

Games Description
SMD The power of Grass-type moves goes up. It also speeds up HP recovery.*
It changes the floor to the Grassy Terrain, where Grass-type moves become more powerful and HP is naturally restored faster. It also halves damage from moves such as Earthquake, Bulldoze, and Magnitude. But it has no effect on Pokémon in the air.*
