Tthere are 3 new Pokémon species available for catching here at the moment: Shellos, Buizel and Pachirisu. The first two are both Water Pokémon, while Pachirisu is an Electric Pokémon.
{| class="expandable" align="center" style="background: #{{
Shellos begins with Water Pulse and picks up Mud Bomb after being trained for a few levels, at Lv. 11. These will be the main attacks of Shellos for a period of time, at least until you receive 03. With Shellos' mediocre offensive stats, Rain Dance (acquired at Lv. 22) may help out a bit. Shellos evolves into -type Pokémon Gastrodon at Lv. 30 or above, but beware that Gastrodon is rather slow, such that almost all other Pokémon can outspeed it. Gastrodon picks up Muddy Water at Lv. 41. This former signature move of Mudkip's evolved forms is a wide-range attack similar to Surf, but it may decrease opponents' accuracy like Mud Bomb does. It also doesn't affect your ally in Double or Multi Battles, yet it comes at the cost of reduced accuracy. Shellos family's possible Abilities are either Sticky Hold which prevents its held item from being stolen, or Storm Drain which draws in all Water-type moves from the enemies, but only matters in Double or Multi Battles. Upon evolution, Gastrodon gains a ton of HP and has its weakness to Electric-type attacks eliminated, turning into a full-on immunity instead, meaning that it is now only weak to Grass-type moves — however, it becomes extremely weak to those attacks. With Gastrodon's sluggish movement, it won't be able to fire an Ice Beam or a Blizzard (through TM usage) in time to cover its allergy, so make sure it stays away from Grass-type opponents. While Gastrodon's Physical Attack is slightly lower than its Sp. Atk, 26 is still a good choice to consider.
Comparing to Shellos line, Buizel family has decent Speed and is clearly more offensive, but is also more fragile. Buizel has Water Gun and Quick Attack to start with. It eventually learns Aqua Jet at Lv. 21. This attack is the Water-type version of Quick Attack and Mach Punch, while providing the same-type attack bonus effect, so replace Quick Attack with Aqua Jet immediately. Aqua Jet will become Buizel's essential move for a prolonged period throughout the game, because by the time you get your hands on 07, you'll already have all Gym Badges. Buizel evolves into Floatzel at Lv. 26 or above. If it evolves on time, Floatzel should learn the Dark Crunch promptly. It picks up Agility at Lv. 29 to make it significantly faster in battles. From this point onwards, Floatzel's Physical Attack will stand out more than its Sp. Atk does. Pay a visit to Move Reminder once you're available to do so — Floatzel can relearn Ice Fang this way to cover its weakness to Grass-type moves, but it is still pretty frail and thus you should only use this as a trump card. Buizel family's Ability is Swift Swim, which doubles its Speed when raining. The Buizel and Shellos lines display 2 different battle styles, so it's up to you for deciding which one suits your battle style more.
Following the tradition of introducing Electric mouse species, Pachirisu is an Electric squirrel. Pachirisu doesn't evolve, but it's even speedier than Buizel. However, its poor offensive stats will be an issue. Pachirisu begins with Bide, which fires back for double damage after absorbing hits for a couple of turns, as well as the familiar Quick Attack and Charm, which harshly cuts the opponent's Physical Attack and makes Growl redundant. It learns the Physical-based Spark at Lv. 13, but it won't be able to use it well like Shinx family does. It picks up Swift at Lv. 21 — despite the name, it isn't a prioritized move, but rather a sure-hit attack which hits both opponents. The Special-based full-field attack Discharge at Lv. 29, when compared to Spark, is more suitable for Pachirisu. Super Fang at Lv. 33 is useful for instantly cutting the target's HP in half. Finally Pachirisu acquires Last Resort at Lv. 37, but this attack is only usable after all of its other moves on-hand have been used. If you're comfortable on applying TMs to Pachirisu, Thunderbolt and Shock Wave are good options. Thunder can hit for massive damage, but it is only accurate when raining. Pachirisu may possess either Run Away, which guarantees escape in wild encounters even when being trapped, or Pickup, which allows Pachirisu to pick up items as long as it isn't holding one, but both Abilities have no effect in Trainer matches and Pachirisu may struggle a lot in your journey. Nevertheless, there is a legend of Pachirisu performing exceptionally well in an international tournament, which proves the fact that when treated with love and trust, along with proper training and battle strategy, the full power of a Pokémon can be brought out, regardless of its species. Whether Pachirisu or the Shinx family fits in your party more, it's once again up to your decision.
A fourth new species, which is a special Pokémon categorized as the "Balloon Pokémon", can be found only on Fridays. It won't appear until after Team Galactic is expelled from Valley Windworks. On the other hand, there is a golden tree nearby, which is a Honey Tree. You'll be able to interact with these special trees for Pokémon encounters in a moment. For now, get back into your main objective of rescuing the girl's father and punishing Team Galactic.

After defeating them, the man will give you the dropped Works Key and a jar of Honey. Follow the path between the flowers. You will find another golden tree, as well as a house. The Honey can be slathered on a golden tree to attract Pokémon, and after around 6 hours a Pokémon will appear, indicated by the Honey Tree shaking. There are 21 Honey Trees scattered throughout Sinnoh. After slathering honey on those trees, if they are left unattended for 24 hours, the Pokémon will disappear from the tree. Honey Trees are home to many unique Pokémon species that, except Wurmple family, are otherwise hardly found in the wild of Sinnoh. For example, Combee, Cherubi and Burmy can only be encountered on Honey Trees. While male Combee are much more common in the gender ratio, note that only female Combee evolves into Vespiquen at Lv. 21 or above. Cherubi evolves into Cherrim starting at Lv. 25. Cherrim is notable for gaining additional power if the weather is sunny, because it switches from Overcast Form into Sunshine Form under harsh sunlight, simultaneously triggering its Signature Ability Flower Gift to boost its Physical Attack and Sp. Def. Burmy is a bit more interesting such that its gender and form may affect the outcome of its evolution beginning at Lv. 20. Burmy is starts off with Plant Cloak, but may switch into Sandy or Trash Cloak depending on the location where it last battled. For male Burmy, regardless of its form, it will always evolve into the Mothim. For female Burmy, it evolves into Wormadam, which takes on the cloak when Burmy began its evolution and will keep the form permanently — the cloak also decides which secondary type Wormadam gains: Grass, Ground or Steel, to go with its primary Bug.
Rarer sightings include Aipom and Heracross, both originating from Johto. It's worth noting that Aipom has gained a new evolved form — Aipom now evolves into Ambipom upon learning Double Hit (at Lv. 32). Heracross has impressive Physical Attack and can be pretty powerful with its Fighting attacks, picking up Brick Break at Lv. 19, then learning the brutal Close Combat at Lv. 37. To top it off, its former signature move and the strongest Bug-type attack Megahorn can be acquired at Lv. 55. It can be a powerhouse as long as its stays away from Flying-type enemies, whom Heracross is heavily allergic to. Moreover, a few randomly-selected Honey Trees might contain Munchlax — the newly added base form of Snorlax, but it is notoriously hard to find, perhaps one of the most difficult in this game, such that even if you managed to locate a Honey Tree with Munchlax, there is only 1% chance that it will show up per each slathering of Honey jar. Furthermore, there is almost no telling which Honey Tree Munchlax will reside on, because only 4 out of all 21 Honey Trees may contain Munchlax, and which 4 trees house Munchlax are randomly selected at the point you begin your adventure. The only indication is that for those 4 specific trees, the afore-mentioned scarce sightings will also appear a bit more frequently. Upon levelling up with high friendship, Munchlax should evolve into Snorlax.

You can talk to the man on the field anytime you wish to purchase additional Honey from him for pdollar100 per jar. A wide ledge splits the entire Floaroma Meadow into southern and northern parts. Being incapable of jumping over the ledge, you are only able to explore the southern part for now — you'll have to return much later when you can use Surf on field and enter northern Floaroma Meadow from the other side, by crossing the river on Rt. 205. There will be a few grunts inside, including the Team Galactic Commander Mars — one of the three Commanders of Team Galactic. Make sure to take out her Zubat before it has a chance to use Toxic and badly poison your Pokémon, because the damage from bad poison worsens each turn. The difficulty to deal with is that Mars has a Level 16 Purugly with a high Physical Attack stat. Due to its weak defenses, a Monferno, or Machop should be able to defeat it by using some Fighting moves like Mach Punch or Karate Chop. Also using Staravia or possibly Shinx and Luxio can help because their (possible) Ability Intimidate reduces Purugly's Attack instantly. Purugly starts off the match with Fake Out, which always goes first and instantly forces your Pokémon to flinch out of your attack, wasting a turn unless you're using a priortized move as well, like Quick Attack or the afore-mentioned Mach Punch.

You will talk to the scientist a little bit about how Team Galactic were using the windworks for something, just as his daughter — the little girl on Route 205, arrives and reunites with him. She also says that "the Balloon Pokemon" will come again. Drifloon is a -type Pokémon, evolving into Drifblim at Lv. 28 or above. Drifblim learns Ominous Wind at Lv. 32, which has a slight chance of increasing all 5 major stats (Physical Attack, Physical Defense, Sp. Atk, Sp. Def and Speed) at once. Shadow Ball comes late at Lv. 44, but it will be one of Drifblim's most reliable attacks.

Eterna Forest provides a seemingly diverse selection of Pokémon, but 3 of the available species (5 if counting both game versions) belong to the Wurmple family, which you might come across through Honey Trees too. Being a Bug Pokémon, Wurmple evolves pretty quickly, into either Silcoon or Cascoon at Lv. 7 or above — that means you can immediately evolve your freshly-caught Wurmple right away, but which one Wurmple evolves into is completely random. Silcoon and Cascoon then evolve again into the Beautifly and the Dustox respectively starting at Lv. 10. Both Buneary and Lopunny are pure Normal Pokémon, similar to the afore-mentioned Aipom family. You may consider postponing the catch until you can purchase Luxury Balls, but unless you're lucky enough to acquire these from Pokémon News Press at Solaceon Town (which is on your way to the third Gym), by the time you can purchase those, you'll be in the city for your final Gym Badge.

Both of them are very hard to capture, with their catch rates around those of Legendary and Mythical Pokémon (more so for Murkrow), so the Dusk Ball that you received back in Oreburgh City may come in handy. Just like Aipom, both of these Johto-native Pokémon have gained new evolutions, evolving into Honchkrow and Mismagius respectively through the use of a Dusk Stone, though you won't come across this item anytime soon.

Floaroma Town
![](https://staging.archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/thumb/b/b4/Floaroma_Town_DP.png/180px-Floaroma_Town_DP.png)
Once you reach Floaroma Town, you'll find yourself surrounded by flowers. Floaroma Town is known for its vividly scented flowers. It is also the first area in the game where you are able to pick and grow Berries. Pick the Berries in the front of the flower shop. If you go into the house next to the Flower shop on the left, talk to the little girl inside and agree with her statement, she will give you TM88 (Pluck).
The only important building at Floaroma Town is the Pick a Peck of Colors Flower Shop. Enter the flower shop and talk to the lady on the far left to obtain the Sprayduck, which is a watering can for watering Berries, shaping like a Psyduck. Also talk to the lady on the right, to get one random Berry each day. The lady at the counter will sell you Accessories for different amounts of different kinds of Berries.
Two Galactic Grunts are blocking the entrance to Floaroma Meadow, so make your way to the east and move onto Route 205 for now.

Route 205 (Part 1)
Walk for a bit and you'll see a little girl rushing up to you asking for help. She tells you that her father has been taken hostage by Team Galactic! Head east to Valley Windworks to rescue him!
You'll see the bridge towards Eterna Forest blocked by two other Galactic Grunts, so don't bother going north for now.

Tthere are 3 new Pokémon species available for catching here at the moment: Shellos, Buizel and Pachirisu. The first two are both Water-type Pokémon, while Pachirisu is an Electric-type Pokémon.
Shellos begins with Water Pulse and picks up Mud Bomb after being trained for a few levels, at Lv. 11. These will be the main attacks of Shellos for a period of time, at least until you receive HM03 (Surf). With Shellos' mediocre offensive stats, Rain Dance (acquired at Lv. 22) may help out a bit. Shellos evolves into Water/Ground-type Pokémon Gastrodon at Lv. Atk, TM26 (Earthquake) is still a good choice to consider.
Aqua Jet will become Buizel's essential move for a prolonged period throughout the game, because by the time you get your hands on HM07 (Waterfall), you'll already have all Gym Badges. Buizel evolves into Floatzel at Lv. 26 or above. If it evolves on time, Floatzel should learn the Dark-type Crunch promptly.

In the entrance to Valley Windworks building, a Galactic Grunt will be blocking the door. Defeat him, and he will lock the door. What to do?
The grunt said that Works Key is required to open the door and the grunts blocking the Floaroma Meadow have the other Works Key, so backtrack to Floaroma Town.
Back to Floaroma Town
Heal your Pokémon before proceeding.
Head back to the northwest corner of Floaroma Town. The grunts are gone. Head inside.
Floaroma Meadow (South)
Make sure that your Pokémon are healed before proceeding.
You'll see two Galactic Grunts hassling a man for honey. Talk to them to fight them. You are going to fight them back-to-back, not in a Double Battle.

For male Burmy, regardless of its form, it will always evolve into the Bug/Flying Mothim. For female Burmy, it evolves into Wormadam, which takes on the cloak when Burmy began its evolution and will keep the form permanently — the cloak also decides which secondary type Wormadam gains: Grass, Ground or Steel, to go with its primary Bug-type.
Rarer sightings include Aipom and Heracross, both originating from Johto. It's worth noting that Aipom has gained a new evolved form — Aipom now evolves into Ambipom upon learning Double Hit (at Lv. 32). Heracross has impressive Physical Attack and can be pretty powerful with its Fighting-type attacks, picking up Brick Break at Lv.

You can talk to the man on the field anytime you wish to purchase additional Honey from him for $100 per jar. 205. When you are ready, proceed to Valley Windworks again.

Due to its weak defenses, a Monferno, or Machop should be able to defeat it by using some Fighting-type moves like Mach Punch or Karate Chop.
|

|
After the battle, Mars is furious over her loss, but knows that it makes no difference as they collected enough data already. You will talk to the scientist a little bit about how Team Galactic were using the windworks for something, just as his daughter — the little girl on Route 205, arrives and reunites with him. She also says that "the Balloon Pokemon" will come again. The scientist adds that there is a Balloon Pokémon that comes on a certain day of the week, but he apparently has forgotten which day it is and what the name of the Balloon Pokémon is.
The Balloon Pokémon is actually Drifloon and it will come every Friday from now on. (If Team Galactic is expelled on a Friday, Drifloon will not appear until the next Friday.) Drifloon is encountered at Lv. 22, which is probably a few levels higher than your party at this point. Drifloon is a Ghost/Flying-type Pokémon, evolving into Drifblim at Lv.

Proceed northwards across the bridge. The wild Pokémon found here are the same as those in the grass patches outside Valley Windworks, albeit with different encounter rates. Climb up the stairs and follow the elevated path while facing enemy Trainers to reach a house that you can use to heal your team if necessary. Then go down the stairs and follow the one-way road. Fight a few more Trainers and grab 2 plants of Berries. The river leads to Fuego Ironworks and another part of Floaroma Meadow, but you cannot cross the stream yet. Come back when you receive your fifth Gym Badge.
Now head back to the house and heal, then go north. There are 2 ledges on the northwest, which indicate the exit from Fuego Ironworks. Ignore them and head further north. You'll find the entrance to Eterna Forest and a path blocked by 2 trees. Since you can't use Cut outside of battle yet, your only choice is to head into Eterna Forest to reach the other side of Route 205.

Being a Bug-type Pokémon, Wurmple evolves pretty quickly, into either Silcoon or Cascoon at Lv. 7 or above — that means you can immediately evolve your freshly-caught Wurmple right away, but which one Wurmple evolves into is completely random. Silcoon and Cascoon then evolve again into the Bug/Flying Beautifly and the Bug/Poison Dustox respectively starting at Lv. 10. All wild Wurmple here are already at or above the threshold for its final form.
The Rabbit Pokémon Buneary is a new addition which evolves into Lopunny when levelled up with sufficient friendship. Both Buneary and Lopunny are pure Normal-type Pokémon, similar to the afore-mentioned Aipom family. Unfortunately among all Pokémon evolving via friendship, Buneary is the hardest to evolve because its base friendship is 0. You may consider postponing the catch until you can purchase Luxury Balls, but unless you're lucky enough to acquire these from Pokémon News Press at Solaceon Town (which is on your way to the third Gym), by the time you can purchase those, you'll be in the city for your final Gym Badge.
The last Pokémon species is only available overnight. Depending on your game version, you may rarely come across either the Dark/Flying MurkrowD, or the Ghost-type MisdreavusP.
