Trivia
* Lance & Dragonite were the first sync pair with a move that costs 4 slots of the move gauge.
* Lance & Dragonite were the first fair-exclusive sync pair. Consequentially, they were also the first fair-exclusive Dragon sync pair.
* Lance & Dragonite are tied with Cynthia, Steven, and as the sync pairs that have been featured in the most sync pair scouts. <!--as of January 11, 2025, they've been featured in 11 sync pair scouts-->
* Lance appears in both the Kanto chapter and the Johto chapter of the Villain Arc, but he plays a more significant role in the Johto chapter. This reflects how he was only an Elite Four member in the Kanto-based games, while he was the Champion in the Johto-based games and was involved in the main plot.
* Lance's appearance in the Champion Stadium Kanto Challenge is a reference to him being a member of Kanto's Elite Four in the Kanto-based games.
* All versions of Lance use special voice-over lines upon entering a team that contains certain Trainers (regardless of their partner Pokémon). Those Trainers include Ethan, Silver, Clair, Kukui (but not the Masked Royal), Raihan, and Leon.
** Lance also uses special voice-over lines upon winning a battle with Ethan, Silver, Clair, Raihan, or Leon in the same team.
* Lance is the first Trainer to form multiple sync pairs with Pokémon in the same evolutionary line to not be able to evolve one of said Pokémon—in his case, he forms separate sync pairs with Dragonair and Lance.
* Lance & Dragonite are the only sync pair to have received both horizontal and vertical sync grid expansions on the same day.
* Lance & Dragonite were the first Poké Fair sync pair to receive a sync pair-exclusive Lucky skill cookie.

Description The Indigo League Champion prefers his battles fair and square, and many find his caring demeanor very endearing.

Lance (Japanese: ワタル Wataru) is a Pokémon Trainer in Pokémon Masters EX, based on the character of the same name in the core series games. He forms a sync pair with Dragonite. This sync pair was first made available through a Poké Fair sync pair scout on December 26, 2019. This pair can be raised to 6★ EX from February 22, 2021.

Lance in his New Year's 2021 seasonal outfit forms a sync pair with Gyarados. This sync pair was first made available through a seasonal sync pair scout on January 1, 2021. This pair can be raised to 6★ EX from the day it was released.

Lance also forms a sync pair with his Dragonair. This pair is available through a limited variety sync pair scout and was first made available on May 9, 2023. This pair can also be raised to 6★ EX since it first released, though this pair lacks an EX style.

Lance also appears in his arc suit, again forming a sync pair with his Dragonite. This pair was first made available through an Arc Suit Fair sync pair scout beginning on September 1, 2024. This pair can be raised to 6★ EX since it first released.

Lance also forms a sync pair with Kingdra. This pair can be obtained by reaching Friendship Level 100 with Lance in the Trainer Lodge beginning on September 1, 2024. This pair can be raised to 6★ EX since it first released, though this pair lacks an EX style.

Dragonite is Lance's only known Pokémon. It appeared along with him at a stadium in Pasio. Alongside Steven's Metagross and Cynthia's Garchomp, it battled Korrina's Lucario, Cheren's Stoutland, and Misty's Starmie. Dragonite attempted to use Hyper Beam on Stoutland and Lucario after they were incapacitated by Garchomp, but Starmie successfully defended its teammates with Light Screen.

Dragonite's only known move is Hyper Beam.

Trivia

  • Lance & Dragonite were the first sync pair with a move that costs 4 slots of the move gauge.
  • Lance & Dragonite were the first fair-exclusive sync pair. Consequentially, they were also the first fair-exclusive Dragon-type sync pair.
  • Lance & Dragonite are tied with Cynthia & Garchomp, Steven & Metagross, and Sygna Suit Red & Charizard as the sync pairs that have been featured in the most sync pair scouts.
  • Lance appears in both the Kanto chapter and the Johto chapter of the Villain Arc, but he plays a more significant role in the Johto chapter. This reflects how he was only an Elite Four member in the Kanto-based games, while he was the Champion in the Johto-based games and was involved in the main plot.
  • Lance's appearance in the Champion Stadium Kanto Challenge is a reference to him being a member of Kanto's Elite Four in the Kanto-based games.
  • All versions of Lance use special voice-over lines upon entering a team that contains certain Trainers (regardless of their partner Pokémon). Those Trainers include Ethan, Silver, Clair, Professor Kukui (but not the Masked Royal), Raihan, and Leon.
    • Lance also uses special voice-over lines upon winning a battle with Ethan, Silver, Clair, Raihan, or Leon in the same team.
  • Lance is the first Trainer to form multiple sync pairs with Pokémon in the same evolutionary line to not be able to evolve one of said Pokémon—in his case, he forms separate sync pairs with Dragonair and Dragonite.
  • Lance & Dragonite are the only sync pair to have received both horizontal and vertical sync grid expansions on the same day.
  • Lance & Dragonite were the first Poké Fair sync pair to receive a sync pair-exclusive Lucky skill cookie.

Origin

Lance's design is based on his appearance in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. Dragonite is Lance's signature Pokémon in the core series games. Dragonite's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ultra Sun.

Lance uses multiple Dragonair on his team as an Elite Four member in the Kanto-based core series games. Dragonair's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ultra Sun.

Lance uses a Kingdra on his team during the rematch against him in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, as well as the Pokémon World Tournament in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2. Kingdra's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ruby.

Lance uses Gyarados during most of his battles with the player in the core series games. Gyarados's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ultra Sun.
