Location of South Province (Area One) in Paldea. | ||||
Pokémon world locations |
South Province (Area One) (Japanese: 南1番エリア South - Area One) is a valley surrounding Los Platos in the South Province of the Paldea region. It is located west of South Province (Area Five) and east of South Province (Area Four). It connects to Cabo Poco to the south and Mesagoza to the north.
Places of interest
Cabo Poco
- Main article: Cabo Poco
The small settlement of Cabo Poco is where the player begins their journey.
Los Platos
- Main article: Los Platos
The small town of Los Platos is a settlement in the middle of the area. It is located on the road between Poco Path to the south and Mesagoza to the north.
Mesagoza (South) Pokémon Center
At the northern end of the area is a Pokémon Center that sits outside the Mesagoza's southern gate. The player encounters Nemona here on the way to Mesagoza on the first day of their enrollment at Naranja AcademyS/Uva AcademyV, where she challenges them to a battle. Nemona demonstrates the Terastal phenomenon to the player for the first time here. Additionally, a Pokémon League representative here asks the player to defeat four Pokémon Trainers in South Province (Area One) for a TM.
Grasswither Shrine
- Main article: Grasswither Shrine
The Grasswither Shrine is a mysterious, purple door that is located at the far southeast corner of the province, against a cliffside. Collecting all of the purple stakes allows access to the shrine, where Wo-Chien can be released and battled.

A colored background means that the Pokémon can be found in this location in the specified game. A white background with a colored letter means that the Pokémon cannot be found here. Probability weight indicates the likelihood that a Pokémon will spawn at a certain point in this location relative to others that can spawn there. A higher probability weight generally indicates that a Pokémon is more likely to spawn. Pokémon with the highest or lowest level requirements may not spawn in every possible location within this area. A bolded level range replaces the Pokémon's non-bolded level range after the player has completed The Way Home. |
Special encounters
After acquiring a Zapdos Treat from Snacksworth, Zapdos will spawn in this area as a static encounter. If defeated, it can be battled again after the game has been rebooted, provided that over one hour has passed in Nintendo Switch's internal clock since its defeat. It is coded to never be Shiny.
