In HZ067, Hamber was mentioned during a report from Chalce to Spinel. According to her, Hamber began to suspect the events that led to Amethio's expulsion and began investigating what happened.

In HZ079, Hamber tasked Coral and Sidian with entering Area Zero.

In HZ083, Hamber rescued Amethio, Zirc and Onia, and returned them their Pokemon after they were caught by Spinel's security guards. At Amethio's mansion, Hamber informed the group of how he met and worked for Gibeon, how he mentored and trained Amethio, Coral, Sidian and Chlace, save for Spinel, as well as talking about Gibeon's past with Lucius and Rystal, from Gibeon's point of view. He expressed similiar views with Amethio in suspecting Spinel of betraying Gibeon to steal the Laquium crystals for himself. He then bid the group farewell as they headed to Laqua.

Hamber is loyal and respectful to the Explorers' leader Gibeon, talking to him in a respectful and reverent tone. Despite this, he is willing to indulge his own curiosity at times, as seen in Reunion at the Ancient Castle! where, instead of reporting Amethio's unsanctioned actions to his boss immediately, he decided to investigate Terapagos's appearance directly for himself. He is also a talented Trainer in his own right, with the ability to battle on even footing with Amethio as well as possessing a Tera Orb.

Although Hamber expresses some concern for his subordinates' safety when they undertake dangerous operations, he does not hesitate to be stern with them if they are acting improperly in Gibeon's presence or show dissention in the ranks. However, he is more considerate to Amethio, as he was willing to train him and gave him a Tera Orb for his efforts, and was somewhat hesitant to believe Spinel's claims that Amethio had betrayed the group.

Dusknoir is Hamber's only known Pokémon as well as his main partner. In Hamber's youth it was still a Dusclops, before it eventually evolved. In Reunion at the Ancient Castle! and Rivals in the Dark of Night!, Dusknoir traveled with Hamber to the ancient castle in Galar, where they confronted Diana to try to stop her escape, but the woman escaped.

In Respective Departures, Hamber used Dusknoir in a training battle with Amethio, during which it was revealed that Dusknoir could Terastallize into a Ghost type. With this great power, Dusknoir was able to defeat Amethio's Ceruledge.

Dusknoir's known moves are Shadow Ball and Shadow Punch.
