Physiology
Grumpig is a bipedal, pig-like Pokémon. It has large ears, a pink snout, and oval eyes. The lower half of its body is black, while the upper half is purple. There are black markings on its ears and arms, while its hands and feet are purple. Its tail is pink and curly. There appear to be three shining black pearls on its body: two small ones on its head, and a larger but nearly flat pearl on its midsection where the black meets the purple. These pearls are used to amplify its psychic powers, which allow it to control its opponents. The dance it performs while using its powers is very popular. It lives on List of Pokémon by habitat.
Grumpig is a Pokémon based upon a pig that is bipedal. The lower half of its body is black, while the upper half is purple. There is also black on its ears and arms, while its hands and feet are purple. There appear to be three shining black pearls on its body, two on its head and another on its mid-section where the black half meets the purple. These pearls are related to Grumpig's strong psychic powers. Its large ears are useful for hearing and properly directing the sound to the inner ear. It also has a pink snout on its face, along with human-like oval-shaped eyes and a mouth. One of its most notable features is its long and curly pink tail, that may have been what was used to bounce in its previous form, Spoink. It is unknown whether Grumpig is able to use the spring-like tail to its advantage aside from using the move Bounce.

In Generation III, Magic Coat was its signature move, but other Pokémon could still inherit it via breeding.

Gender differences
Evolution
None.
Grumpig evolves from Spoink.

Special abilities
(For specifics on this Pokémon's Evolution in the games, refer to Game data→Evolution data.)
Like Spoink, the pearls on Grumpig's body give it the ability to execute powerful Psychic attacks. An interesting ability of Grumpig's is being able to perform unusual dance steps to hypnotize its opponents; this is most likely since while performing Psychic-type moves while harnessing the energy of the pearls, it will automatically move in this odd way.

Behavior
Game data
As previously stated, Grumpig are known to perform odd dance steps. Interestingly, this dance has become popular among many humans. Much of Grumpig's behavior involves hypnotism and psychic power, which is most likely why it is known as the Manipulate Pokémon.

Origin
Origin
It is possible the inspiration for Grumpig came from the biblical phrase The pearls were supposed to represent wisdom given to an audience who wouldn't appreciate the teachings. Grumpig and Spoink appear to instead use those pearls of wisdom to enhance their mental powers. It is based on a pig.
Grumpig appears to be based on a pig. It may also be based on the Biblical phrase from Gospel of Matthew. The pearls were supposed to represent wisdom given to an audience who would not appreciate the teachings. Grumpig and Spoink appear to instead use those pearls of wisdom to enhance their psychic powers.

Name origin
Name origin
Grumpig's name is likely just a combination of grump and pig. Boopig is probably derived from ぶうぶう būbū, grumbling or oinking, or 豚 buta, pig, and the English word pig.
Grumpig may be a combination of grumpy and pig. It may also involve grunt (guttural sound of a pig).

Boopig may be a combination of ブーブー būbū (onomatopoeia for oinking) and pig.

Grumpig (Japanese: ブーピッグ Boopig) is a Psychic-type Pokémon introduced in Generation III.

It evolves from Spoink starting at level 32.

Biology

Grumpig is a bipedal, pig-like Pokémon. It has large ears, a pink snout, and oval eyes. The lower half of its body is black, while the upper half is purple. There are black markings on its ears and arms, while its hands and feet are purple. Its tail is pink and curly. There appear to be three shining black pearls on its body: two small ones on its head, and a larger but nearly flat pearl on its midsection where the black meets the purple. These pearls are used to amplify its psychic powers, which allow it to control its opponents. The dance it performs while using its powers is very popular. It lives on mountains.

In Generation III, Magic Coat was its signature move, but other Pokémon could still inherit it via breeding.

Evolution

Grumpig evolves from Spoink.

Trivia

 • Grumpig shares its category with Gothorita. They are both known as the Manipulate Pokémon.

Origin

Grumpig appears to be based on a pig. It may also be based on the Biblical phrase "...neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you" from Matthew 7:6. The pearls were supposed to represent wisdom given to an audience who would not appreciate the teachings. Grumpig and Spoink appear to instead use those pearls of wisdom to enhance their psychic powers.

Name origin

Grumpig may be a combination of grumpy and pig. It may also involve grunt (guttural sound of a pig).

Boopig may be a combination of ブーブー būbū (onomatopoeia for oinking) and pig.
