Growth (Japanese: せいちょう Growth) is a non-damaging Normal move introduced in Generation I.

Effect
Effect
Generation I
Generation I
Growth increases the user's Special stat by one stage. Growth will do nothing if the user's Special has reached six stages or a value of 999. The effect of Growth is ignored by critical hits.
Growth increases the user's Special stat by one stage.

Generation II and on
Generations II to IV
The effects of Growth are the same as the previous generation, however, it increases user's Special Attack stat instead.
Growth instead increases the user's Special Attack stat by one stage.

In the anime
Growth can be used as the first move of a Pokémon Contest combination, causing Absorb, Bullet Seed, Frenzy Plant, Giga Drain, Magical Leaf, Mega Drain, Petal Dance, Razor Leaf, Solar Beam, and Vine Whip to score double the normal appeal if used in the next turn.
Tangrowth. Tangrowth emits a green beam from its hands that gives a dying tree the energy to grow.

* Used by wild Tangrowth as well as several other Grass-type Pokémon in Promoting Healthy Tangrowth!.
Generation V
Growth now increases the user's Attack by one stage in addition to increasing Special Attack by one stage. In harsh sunlight, Growth raises Attack and Special Attack by two stages each.

Generation VI onwards
Growth's PP is changed from 40 to 20.

Growth can be used as part of a Contest Spectacular combination, with the user gaining an extra appeal point if the move Sunny Day was used in the prior turn.

If powered up by a Normalium Z into Z-Growth, the user's Special Attack stat rises by another stage.

Growth (Japanese: せいちょう Growth) is a non-damaging Normal-type move introduced in Generation I.

Effect

Generation I

Growth increases the user's Special stat by one stage.

Generations II to IV

Growth instead increases the user's Special Attack stat by one stage.

Growth can be used as the first move of a Pokémon Contest combination, causing Absorb, Bullet Seed, Frenzy Plant, Giga Drain, Magical Leaf, Mega Drain, Petal Dance, Razor Leaf, SolarBeam, and Vine Whip to score double the normal appeal if used in the next turn.
