Trivia

  • Tabunne is very similar to Chansey. They are both pink, are Normal-type Pokémon, learn healing moves, work in Pokémon Centers, neither have evolutionary chains revealed in their debut generation, and both have low encounter rates in both of their introductory games and names that reference luck or chance in some way.
    • However, Chansey are only female, and Tabunne can be either male or female.
  • It is the only Pokémon available in any tall grass of a region, similar to Magikarp which available in any water.

Origin

It seems to be based on a combination of a Leporid and a nurse or doctor, with its ears acting like stethoscopes.

Name origin

Its name seems to be derived from 多分ね tabun ne, meaning "maybe". Its name is likely derived from 多聞 tabun, "Many are heard".
