Trivia
- Hoiiga shares many similarities with Kakuna. Both are Bug/Poison, both are based off cocoons and both belong to a three-stage family of Bug/Poison Pokémon.
- However Hoiiga has a diverse moveset, while Kakuna has a very limited one.
Origin
Hoiiga, like its species states, is based on a centipede. However, its rolled up appearance and color scheme is more similar to that of an Oniscidea or Oniscomorpha. When in danger, these arthropods in these two orders will curl up into a ball. It may also be based on a car tire.
Name origin
Its name derives from ホイール hoīru, wheel.
