Liza (Japanese: ジーク Sieg) is the caretaker of the Charicific Valley, which is made specifically as a natural paradise for wild Charizard.

History

Liza made her debut appearance in Charizard's Burning Ambitions. She knew of a Trainer's win at the Violet City Gym with a Charizard, and immediately deduced that Trainer was Ash. She invited them to come with her into the valley, encouraging Ash to ride his Charizard as transport, somewhat questioning why—as a Charizard Trainer—he's never flown upon his. She also questions the strength of Ash's Charizard, indicating only 'weak' Charizard display their power through Charizard's typical stream of fire, and that it needs some serious training.

Charizard wanted to train at the valley seeing the other powerful Charizard there but Liza refused after it lost to her Charizard, Charla. But seeing its determination to train there, she agreed.

Liza made a brief cameo appearance in the third movie with Charla and other Charizard from the Charicific Valley.

Liza later appeared in Great Bowls of Fire! bringing Ash's Charizard with her. It was revealed that she was good friends with Clair since they were young children. Liza often takes the Charizard from the Charicific Valley to Blackthorn City in order to train them.

Ash would also call Liza sometimes whenever he needed Charizard sent over.

In Charizard's Burning Ambitions, Ash leaves his Charizard at the Charicific Valley for training with Liza and the other Charizard. Liza will occasionally take Ash's Charizard elsewhere for training, and will sometimes reunite the Trainer and Pokémon.

Charizard (multiple)

Liza trains multiple Charizard that live at Charicific Valley; they are wild they never see humans because of the risk of Pokémon poachers. The Charizard battle and train to become stronger. She first shows them to Ash and his friends: some battling, some sleeping, some doing other activities. One large Charizard walks up to Ash's Charizard, Liza points that if he can defeat this Charizard he can live in the valley. Ash's Charizard is initially unsuccessful, but joins the group of Charizard at the end of the episode.

It was revealed in Great Bowls of Fire! that she often takes Charizard to Blackthorn City in order to train them.

Different Charizard have different moves; the large Charizard's only known move was Flamethrower.
